Game Preview #6: Toronto Raptors @ San Antonio Spurs

The Maglev has left the station. You'd better get used to it, Findog.
After the last 2 games went horribly awry, the Spurs need a win to tread water. Let me just say it up front: I think they'll get that win tonight. But how will it go down? That's why we watch.
Join us after the jump for your preview.

In the last game, we learned that the new-look Spurs are capable of playing defense, thanks in large part to the efforts of Kei...

Editorial: Why Tony Parker's Injury is Good for the Spurs

Just a little caveat about the title of this post: Tony's ankle injury is good for the Spurs only if it's short-term, like he says.
The ankle injury that Parker sustained on Friday night in Portland could end up being the best thing to happen to the Spurs in the early part of the season. Yes, I know he's the leading scorer. That's kind of my point.

So, why do I think the injury to Tony is such a good thing? Well, there's actually a couple of ...

I love watching NBA games live. It gives you such a unique perspective and feel for the game. You can better understand the flow of the action and how certain players impact the game positively and negatively. When you remove yourself from the constant stat updates and the announcers dictating the narrative of the game, you can start to see things that you maybe haven't noticed before. Spacing. Rotations. Passing lanes and angles. The pure athleticism and artistry of the players. Last nig...

NBA Live 10 Regular Season Simulation #1: New Orleans Hornets at San Antonio Spurs

Well, it has arrived: the regular season of the National Basketball Association. Frankly, it has been a long, long wait. I posted a poll last week to see which opening-week Spurs game you fans would like to see simulated, and it was unanimous--the NEW ORLEANS HORNETS!
NBA LIVE 10 uses Dynamic DNA to keep the game fresh, meaning the game reflects up-to-date roster changes, injuries, player tendencies (defense, shooting), and team tendencies.
Today we take on N'awl...

Roger Mason Wallpaper.

Since there seems to be a wallpaper craze going on PTR, I decided to contribute my own. My photoshop skills are a bit rusty, so any constructive criticism will be appreciated. The wallpaper itself is a bit busy, but I think it's nice enough for maybe an office setting or to use at home. It came out pretty well, although the contrast is a bit too dull and the tonal range a bit flat, but other than that I'm happy with the final result. Of course, you can download it as you please.

The Bright Side of Manu Ginobili's Injury | DAILY SPORTS SELECT

Spurs fans, I don't mean to sound insensitive to your plight, but I'm a San Antonio fan, too. After the initial shock of learning about Manu Ginobili's season-ending leg injury, I realized that not all is lost in the long run, depending on what kind of moves the Spurs make. The off-season of 2009 will be a good time for the franchise to get younger - and Manu to get some real rehab and rest.Bruce Bowen, Kurt Thomas and Michael Finley are basically as good as done. After doing some ...

SA Gunner Capitalizing On Large Role

Roger Mason Jr. likes to shoot.
He really loves to heave the rock up there. For his career, the fifth-year veteran takes more than 12 shots per 36 minutes (six of which are threes). With Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili ailing in the Spurs' backcourt, Mason is getting the chance for the first time to play big-time minutes, and he isn't shying away much from his usual flinging pace.

Mason played 30 minutes in the Spurs' 25-point victory over Utah on Friday night, and his shooti...
