Tony Parker Says Sore Hamstring Could Tear ‘Any Time Now’

SAN ANTONIO — Spurs guard Tony Parker said Saturday the strained right hamstring that wore him down this week could tear “any time now” heading into Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat.
But he’s giving no thought to letting the injury properly heal.
“If it was the regular season, I would be resting like 10 days,” Parker said. “But now it’s the NBA Finals. If it gets a tear, it’s life.”
It would also deal a major blow to the Spurs’ chances of winning this title.
Yet despite the blunt assessment of his hamstring, the All-Star told reporters he is getting stronger on the eve of San Antonio’s final home game Sunday night. Parker said he is confident, staying disciplined with treatment and still aspires to be “close to 100 percent” by tipoff.
That’s exactly how the 31-year-old point guard looked to start Game 4 on Thursday night, two days after straining the hamstring in a blowout win. But Parker faded badly after a sizzling start, going scoreless in the second half while

Spurs' Parker: Sore hamstring can 'tear any time'

SAN ANTONIO (AP) -- Spurs guard Tony Parker says his sore right hamstring can tear "any time now" heading into Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Miami Heat.

Parker said Saturday he would take about 10 days to rest if this were the regular season. But with the series tied 2-all heading into San Antonio's final home game Sunday, the All-Star says, "If it gets a tear, that's life."

Parker strained the hamstring in a Game 3 blowout victory for the Spurs. He returned with a dazzling start in Game 4 on Thursday night, only to not score in the second half. Parker says he grew tired as the Heat pulled away to reclaim home-court advantage.

Despite the blunt assessment of his hamstring, Parker says he feels he's getting stronger.

Tony Parker's goal is to be 100 percent by Sunday

AT&T Center - Heading into Game 4, San Antonio Spurs' Tony Parker was not admittedly 100 percent. In Game 3, he suffered a left hamstring injury and was a game time decision before Game 4.

Parker did end up playing Game 4 and finished with 15 points, 9 assists, off 7-16 shooting in the loss. Solid numbers but not the numbers Parker usually produces considering he played through the gimpy hamstring.

"It was weak. I didn't know what to expect. So the first three, four minutes I was testing it and the first half it felt okay," said Parker.

"But overall I'm just happy I didn't make it worse. That was the goal, to not try to get hurt, because Pop (Gregg Popovich) was not really happy, meaning I wanted to play and took a little risk. So I'm happy I'm not worse."

A risky move indeed by Parker. Without Parker for an extended amount of time in the Finals, and San Antonio does not have a great shot at title No. 5 for the franch...

Spurs' Parker will play in Game 4

Spurs guard Tony Parker said he will play in Game 4 of the NBA Finals after his availability was in doubt because of a mild right hamstring strain.

Parker wouldn't address his injury at practice Thursday other than answering ''I'll be ready to go'' to multiple questions about his health. The All-Star was hurt early in the second half of Game 3, which the Spurs won to take a 2-1 lead over the Miami Heat in the best-of-seven series.

The question now is whether Parker will show any signs of being sore or ailing against the Heat. An MRI taken Wednesday revealed a Grade 1 strain, the mildest level, but Parker had been uncertain about his status until Thursday morning.

Despite Parker getting hurt Tuesday night, the Spurs still walloped Miami 113-77.

''They're going to play a lot better,'' Parker said at the Spurs' morning shootaround. ''They're going to come out very aggressive, very physical. It's a big game tonight. We're going to have to be

MRI reveals Parker hamstring strain

Tony Parker underwent an MRI Wednesday morning on his injured hamstring, and the results are in.

Parker posted, in French, on his Facebook page that he has a slight "stretch" in his hamstring.

"I just had MRI. Result: I suffer from a slight stretch to the hamstring. We'll see tomorrow how I feel, I really hope to play!" Parker posted, the San Antonio Express-News translated and reports.

The Spurs have yet to announce an official statement on Parker's injury.

Parker left Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Tuesday night in the third quarter to have his hamstring examined. He returned to the game and played the first two minutes of the fourth quarter before leaving the game, along with the rest of the Spurs veteran stars, as the Spurs pulled away from Miami en route to a 113-77 win.

"I just wanted to make sure the doctor said I was OK and then I played two minutes in the fourth quarter and we were up big so (coach Gregg Popovich) didn't want to take a risk,'' Parker s

Parker to get MRI, Game 4 status uncertain

If the Spurs want to take two more games from the Heat in the NBA Finals to win their fifth championship, they may have to do it without their star point guard.

Tony Parker tweaked his hamstring in Game 3 on Tuesday night and now his status for Game 4 is up in the air.

"We'll see," Parker said after the game, reports the San Antonio Express-News. "I felt something on my hamstring, so I don't know, I have no idea. We will do an MRI tomorrow. Hopefully it's nothing big and it's just a cramping, or got tight on me. I don't know, it was just a weird feeling. I just wanted to make sure the doctor said I was okay and then I played tow minutes in the fourth quarter and we were up big so Pop didn't want to take a risk. We will see tomorrow"

Parker left the court midway through the third quarter to be examined. He started the 4th quarter for the Spurs, but after San Antonio broke the game open, Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich pulled his veteran stars to get them some ex

Parker to have MRI for hamstring

Tony Parker says he “felt something in his hamstring…a weird feeling,” during Game 3 of the NBA Finals and hopes it was cramping, but will undergo a precautionary MRI Wednesday morning. His status for Game 4 on Thursday is uncertain. Parker, who finished with a quiet 6 points and 8 assists, left during the third quarter and went to the locker room and later returned to play just one minute in the fourth of the 113-77 win. Spurs guard Tony Parker said he is uncertain if he will be able to play with hamstring injury in Game 4 and he will have MRI in morning. — Marc J.
Parker's epic shot gets 'Mix Tape' treatment

You can bet there was more than one "old timer" watching Game 1 of the NBA Finals with some of the current generation.

When Spurs guard Tony Parker hit his amazing game winner on Thursday night, said "old timer" probably threw out comparisons to Harlem Globetrotters legend Curly Neal ... which was probably met with serveral "who" responses by those under 30.

But if he had said "The Professor," ... now we know what you're talking about!

And now, a video has posted online, mixing the exciting final seconds of Game 1 with the sounds of the "And 1 Mix Tape Tour."

And the results are hilarious.

The scary part is that the And-1 hype man is not that much different then the over-the-top voice of the Miami Heat, Michael Baiamonte.
