The Warriors absolutely need to land Elton Brand if they want to stay competitive. But even if they land him, the old, exciting, run-and-gun Warriors are dead.

History Repeats Itself: Golden State Warriors Love to Let Good Players Go.....

I dont know what it is with the Golden State Warriors. It seems every time they have a pretty decent team all the good players leave either through horrible managment, personal interest or in some cases conflicts. Im going to list Players that Golden State has gotten rid of in the past couple of decades and what not, to show that Golden State likes to get rid of good players...

Starting with

1) Mitch Richmond

2) Tim Hardaway- was he fun to watch or what

3) Rony Seikaly

4) Chris Webber

5) Joe Smith

6) John Starks

7) Latrell Sprewell- supposedly is coming back to Golden State (no i actually dreamed of that last night, pretty homo)

8) Gilbert Arenas-Buttbuddy of Antwan

9) Antwan Jamison-BUttbutddy of Gilbert

10) Jason Richardson-

11) Baron Davis

Other notables and primarily big men they got rid of where Erick Dampier, Danny Fortson, Manute Bol, Tom Gugliotta Donyell Marshall, Crowd favortie Earl Boykins, Speedy Clak Clak Clak Claxton....

With regards to the notables: I dont believe they are all good, Im just saying they did have big bodies back in the day and probably why Warriors been playing small ball lately. But Fortson and Dampier were pretty solid as much as I hate to say it back in early 2000's now Dampier is soft like Diapers and Fortson is pretty solid backup.

If their are more feel free to say:::Its just sad how Baron left womp womp.

(Here is my follow-up article to the '07-08 Slam Dunk stats). Which players throw down lots of dunks, but still have solid 3-point range? Which players rack up steals and blocks, but don't commit a ton of fouls? The ones with the most Divergent Skills of course!

The "Divergent Skills Gauge" was created by USA Today several years ago. The leaders are some of the most athletic & versatile stars in the NBA. Click below to see who made the cut.

*As an added bonus, you get to see why the Warriors are the most versatile team in the league (w/ a Mac Mall song to back it up) and why the Knicks suck so bad!

Ranking the Top 30 Shooting Guards by Total Value

This is the second of five installments of my position-by-position rankings, where I consider the four major factors that affect a player's total value: talent (statistical performance), affordability, age and potential. To see a more detailed explanation of my approach, give my point guard rankings a gander.

To summarize a player's stats, I'll use the NBA Efficiency statistic, which is defined as:

EFF = ((Points + Rebounds + Assists + Steals + Blocks) - ((Field Goals Att. - Field Goals Made) + (Free Throws Att. - Free Throws Made) + Turnovers))

Essentially, the order of this list depends on the answer to the question - would you trade Player X for Player Y, assuming the goal is to win a title in the next three seasons, while also building a strong franchise for years to come?

On with the rankings:

1. Kobe Bryant, Lakers

Age: 29

EPG: 26.8

Contract: three years, $69.1 M ($23.0 M per)

His salary is astronomical, which makes it difficult to rank him ahead of the almost-as-effective-for-half-the-price Manu Ginobili, but Kobe is probably the league's best one-on-one player and is the only guy who can match Manu's fire and competitiveness.

2. Manu Ginobili, Spurs

Age: 30

EPG: 19.9

Contract: two years, $20.6 M ($10.3 M per)

Ginobili should still be effective for the next three years, so his very reasonable contract makes him a reasonably close second to Kobe. His game has no holes and he is one of the best players in the league in the clutch.

3. Brandon Roy, Blazers

Age: 23

EPG: 19.4

Contract: three years, $12.2 M ($4.1 M per)

Who would you rather have - Roy for $4.1 million per season or Dwyane Wade for $15.8 million? I'd take Roy and spend the difference elsewhere. He's a terrific combo guard that has helped to bring the Blazers back to respectability.

(See the rest of the list after the jump.)

NBA: The All-Athletic Team

The other day I decided to start browsing through YouTube looking for some basketball videos.

That's when I saw it, a video of Jason Richardson's best dunks throughout his career. As I watched, I realized how easy he made everything look, like he was dunking on a Fisher Price basket. Tons of impressive windmills and off the backboard slams, weren't enough.

I wanted to see more.

As I watched video after video, I started wondering, who are the most athletic players at each position? After giving my question some thought, my All-Athletic team was born.

Without further ado, here's what I came up with:

Toothless: Why the Charlotte Bobcats Aren't Making Progress and What Needs to be Done

It takes time to build an NBA team from the ground up. Every expansion franchise struggles, and winning 33 games in just their third season was an accomplishment for the Bobcats. But the lack of progress this season despite trading for a veteran scorer has been extremely disconcerting.

Day 159 of 170: The Bobcats are no match for the Celtics' C-Minus Team

The Biggest Loser: By this point in the season, Jason Richardson (2.0) owners know to expect games like this from him every blue moon. Richardson was 4-12 from the field and 1-7 from three. He scored 9 points with 1 rebound and 4 assists as the Bobcats got torched by the Celtics backup squad.

Raptors vs. Bobcats - The Day After

Yikes. When the Bobcats are posting points on you not once, but twice in a week, you have defensive issues. Wait, you have defensive issues, rebounding issues, transition issues…I'm talking Bobby & Whitney in the 90s sized issues. But before we get into the Raps and their shameful loss to the Bobcats, let's take a minute to remember the man that was Rasho. The man who got POSTERIZED by J-Rich tonight. I mean, I'm no Bobcat lover, but that was a big time dunk. I don't know how many better dunks I've seen this year. Actually, let's roll with this for a bit. Coming down the lane, there was no doubt what Jason Richardson was going to do. He saw the opportunity and took it, throwing down a dunk with such force and reckless abandon, he looked like a guy who forgot he was playing for Charlotte. Let's also give J-Rich a former Raptor claw for his MoPete-worthy circus shot to set up the and 1. We pretty much saw everything from Richardson tonight, 27 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists and he even found time to throw in a couple of steals. That's a guy taking full advantage of the opportunities presented to him. We saw from Richardson, some of the aggression that the Raptors lack night in and night out. His performance tonight was essentially him saying, "I am going to keep attacking these open lanes until somebody stops me." No Raptors answered the challenge.

Since returning to the starting PG role, we have seen a new TJ Ford. One who hasn't been forcing the issue, a TJ who has actually looked in control for the most part and has been attacking when defenses have shown that they can't keep up with his pace. It has been good to see TJ come back and play the kind of ball we know he can. 14 assists tonight for TJ, which is good to see, but for God's sake, if you can't control the ball when the game is on the line, if you turn it over without even making a move, you're not going to win any fans in Toronto. If you want to be the starter and want to be the man running the team, then you have to be able to close the game out when it is on the line. Sure, on more than one occasion, we have seen TJ seal games down the stretch, but ones like this are going to stand out. Starters CLOSE games. That's what he needs to get into his head. Starters CLOSE games.

The Raptors had 3 different ways they could have ensured their playoff spot tonight. If they beat Charlotte, they were in. If Washington won, they were in and if Jersey lost, they were in. So of course, the Raptors couldn't just win their game, they had to lose to an inferior team and then watch the other two scenarios fall into place. Maybe going into the playoffs, the Raptors strategy will be to have their opposition just win for them. Count on them making more mistakes than they do. Getting into the playoffs by backing in is sort of like showing up for a party that you weren't really invited to, but everybody there knows you and they know that you crashed the joint. We've been saying it for a while, but along with getting tougher, the Raptors have to have some pride. When you have your team's fate in your own hands, you have to step up and show everyone that you're ready for the playoffs. The Raptors clearly aren't.
