Former San Antonio Spurs power forward Malik Rose was one of the most respected players on the team with his hustle and energy on both ends of the floor. Now a Philadelphia 76ers' commentator for their games, Rose still keeps tabs on his former team and teammates who are on their final run for the franchise's fifth championship. On what's the most important issue for the team's title dreams, Rose told Hard 2 Guard Radio: They’re always going to have that nucleus with Tim, Tony and Manu- those guys know the system and they know each other…they do a good job of surrounding those guys with good role players. Was Kelly Tripucka Too Honest for MSG?

Last week it was reported that Kelly Tripucka and the MSG Network have decided to part ways. Tripucka has been with the network since 2008 and served a duel role as studio analyst and backup to Clyde Frazier with the play-by-play. Knicks fans who watched the pre and postgame last season know he meshed well in the studio with Al Trautwig and Alan Hahn. Hahn played the new-age writer turned TV pro who understands the blogosphere and was at the front line of the fans passion. Tripucka was the former old school player- a bit curmudgeonly- but knowledgeable about the game from an X and O standpoint. Trautwig played the referee and interjected his dry sense of humor. The MSG studio seemed to portray as fair and balanced a view as possible under the media-conscience Jim Dolan. Now it appears Tripucka is gone and no replacement has been announced. NY Knicks and MSG Decide Not to Bring Back Kelly Tripucka

MSG has decided not to bring back former NBA player, Kelly Tripucka, to their broadcast team. Tripucka, a New Jersey native, appeared with Alan Hahn and MSG veteran Al Trautwig on the pre, post, and halftime shows. Tripucka was not fired, but it was decided that he would not be rehired by the network. Tripucka’s replacement has not been announced but there are a few candidates that would make sense to occupy his vacant seat. Malik Rose has done some work for the network, but he does not have much other experience on camera. Baron Davis has been hired by the team to perform a variety of jobs, so I would not be surprised to see him on camera. He also intends to get into the entertainment and possibly political arenas, but I doubt he will be a full-time fill-in. Don’t be surprised if you see Larry Johnson take a role with the TV crew. Chris Ballard of Sports Illustrated penned a wide ranging piece on Tim Duncan after spending some time with the future Hall of Famer. The piece attempts to shed light on a man that even after all these years of playing the NBA is still very much an enigma. What about this big three? Don’t get it twisted by the title because more than anything the fact that nobody wants to see this Spurs team is a huge sign of respect because we include several NBA teams in this mix. Yesterday Spurs Greg Poppovich was asked about how he feels about everyone saying his team is old. For San Antonio Spurs fans that miss former Spur Malik Rose in the broadcast booth and are wondering where he went off to, he’s now doing color commentary for the Philadelphia 76ers. Sixers Streak Continues With Win Over Raptors

The Philadelphia 76ers boosted their record to 5-2 after their 97-62 win over the Toronto Raptors. This is their best start to a season since 2000-01 when they bursted out to a 10-0 record. There was plenty of hype around this team during the offseason. Many believed it was just a marketing ploy to sell tickets, but so far in the young season, the Sixers are proving that they may be for real. Marc Zumoff and Malik Rose continually say it on air at seemingly every opportunity they have but it's true: every night it is a different Sixer that heats up. From Jrue Holliday to Andre Iguodala and Jodie Meeks to Evan Turner, the Sixers have so many weapons on their team, making it difficult for opposing teams to match up. Malik Rose to join 76ers broadcast team

Former San Antonio Spurs player and color commentator Malik Rose has found a full time gig in the broadcasting world. Rose will be returning to his home city of Philadelphia to become the Philadelphia 76ers' full time broadcaster according to the 76ers official site. Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia, the leader in local sports coverage, today announced that former Drexel University standout and two-time NBA Champion Malik Rose joins Marc Zumoff and Meredith Marakovits on the Sixers broadcast team. Comcast SportsNet and The Comcast Network will air all 66 regular season games with “Sixers Pregame Live” and “Sixers Postgame Live” airing before and after every regular season game. Over the last few seasons Rose would mainly fill in for Sean Elliot when Elliot wouldn't make lengthy road trips such as the infamous Rodeo Road Trip. The Sixers have a new addition to their broadcast team - former Drexel University standout Malik Rose. Rose also played for several NBA teams after being drafted by the Charlotte Hornets in the second round of the 1996 draft. [CSN Philly] Rose will join Zumoff for all Sixers broadcasts. Zumoff, who won his 13th Emmy this year, enters his 18th season as the Sixers television play-by-play announcer and his 30th as a part of the 76ers broadcast team. Marakovits is in her second season as a sideline reporter for the Sixers and this season she will cover the team both at home and on the road. Eric Snow has relinquished his role as color analyst for the 76ers to spend with time with his family in Atlanta. Rose is a Philly guy, and was clearly excited about the opportunity.
