You have to feel for Nets fans. With the team dressing just 8 players, their team played with heart and never gave up, but at the end of the game, they were still 0-7. We might go 0-82. The starters once again got off to a slow start and once again it wasn't until the reserves came in that the team picked up. Sheed, in particular was the spark plug to jump start this team. Sheed seems to be a perfect fit for this team and appears to be relishing his role off the bench. He finished with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block in 23 minutes. In the 2007-08 season, the Celtics began the season with 8 straight wins. Last season, all they could muster were 2 wins before they notched their first loss. Last night's game against the Bulls was amazing to watch. The Celtics just methodically dismantled the Bulls on both ends of the court. Here are a few numbers from last night's game. I can't blame Mo Williams for losing his cool. His Cavaliers are getting embarrassed by an undermanned Celtics team.

The Celtics lead this one 56-48 at the half, minus Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Glen Davis. The lead would be 18 if the referees weren't in awe of Shaq and giving him ridiculous calls.

Two of the Cavs big additions, Jamario Moon and Anthony Parker, are getting manhandled by Marquis Daniels.

Celtics caught in bus ride from hell

If you're reading this right now... just head over to Shelden Williams' twitter page and follow along with the Celtics bus ride from hell as they try to go play the Knicks. So far, I've been able to piece together that there's an extra long bus, insane traffic because of Barack Obama being in NY, and a detour that has left the Celtics stuck and in traffic asking people to move out of the way so the bus can move.

Shel is getting a big kick out of it.

Shelden's fresh start

The hardest role on this team to define might be that of Shelden Williams. Is he an insurance policy? Does he fill a Leon Powe role where his minutes depend on matchups?

Whatever it is, Shelden is keeping it simple... and looking at it like a fresh start.

“They want me to come in and play defense, rebound the basketball, be able to go out there and do the little things,’’ Williams said while preparing for tomorrow’s exhibition season opener against Houston in Hidalgo, Texas. “That’s what I’m trying to do. It’s kind of like being a freshman at Duke all over again. You already have a great group of guys, and with the tradition we have here . . . so I just have to come in here and find my niche, and go from there.

“This is a very veteran team. They have a lot of years on me, so I’m picking their brains and going from there.’’

It's going to be interesting to see how Shelden fits in with this club. Sheed and Big Baby are clearly ahead of him off the bench. But if Baby goes into any kind of slump or if matchups dictate the C's need to go bigger... then Shelden will get some time. Maybe coming in without the expectations of being a lottery pick will help him stay focused on the jobs he mentioned. Honestly, he can make a nice little career out of just playing D and rebounding... and that's all we need out of him here in Boston.
