BEAT THE HUSKIES.

While sifting through memories of recent UW-OSU match-up memories, I think this one jumps to the forefront for almost every Beaver fan:

This video not only reminds me of how much I'll miss seeing Lyle Moevao rock the number three, smile after a touchdown and thump his chest after earholing Fusky defenders, but also how much this team is going to miss a lot of these seniors. Good luck to all these guys and BEAT THE HUSKIES!

No Rotation for Katz

With the season ending injury to Lyle Moevao, the question arose this morning at the weekly press conference in the Valley Football Center as to whether Oregon St. would look to work Ryan Katz, now the backup to QB Sean Canfield, into a rotation to get him some snaps, but Coach Mike Riley ruled that out.

We are not planning any sort of rotation. We will (continue to) do whatever we have to that gives us the best chance to win the game at hand. We will try to get him a lot of work in pr...

Lyle Moevao On Crutches

Senior Oregon St. Quarterback Lyle Moevao had defensive lineman Matt LaGrone fall on the back of his foot. As a result, the Beavers' #2 QB is on crutches, and scheduled for an MRI this afternoon.
Coach Mike Riley said he may know after practice if Moevao will be out for an extended period.

Can you believe that? I feel bad for him.

The injury elevates redshirt freshman QB Ryan Katz to the #2 spot on the depth chart until further notice, and Peter Lalich to #3. Riley said he woul...

Could Moevao be Oregon State's starting QB next year? - Pac-10 - ESPN.

ESPN's Ted Miller discusses the possibility of Beavers' QB Lyle Moevao getting a 6th year of eligibility for 2010 from the NCAA.
The best-case scenario, of course, is Canfield stays healthy, Moevao gets a sixth year and Katz gets ...

Connor's thoughts on the Arizona Game

The Wildcats defeated the Beavers 37-32 on a brilliantly sunny day in Corvallis. Here are my thoughts on the game.QuarterbackSean went 31-47 with 2 touchdowns and 2 intereceptions. But once again, Sean did not have a good game. His throws were not sharp and forced too many balls. He was lucky that only two got picked off. He did a better job this week of throwing the ball away, but still took too many sacks.
Look, Sean is a fine QB, and if he was our only choice we would ...

Lyle Moevao has been cleared to throw for several weeks, but he remains on a "pitch count" and hasn't regained all of his strength in his throwing arm. He is expected to be game ready by OSU's second or third game. (Photo by Ethan Erickson)

Day One: Nohawks, baby

Fall Practice is underway in Corvallis, as the Beavers wrapped up their first practice yesterday at the Tommy Prothero athletic complex. According to several reports, the practice went as planned without any major injuries or anything else to report of. The players practiced without shoulder pads, which will be added later in the week.
Until the players trade the shorts for girdles and put the pads underneath their jerseys, expect things to stay fairly low key, with the coac...

PAC-10 Position Breakdown: Is There a QB Showdown at Oregon State?

Two experienced quarterbacks return to Corvallis for their senior years. Both have winning records in their careers and each has won a bowl game with the Beavers.
Sounds like a spring QB dual for the ages, right? Wrong. Unfortunately a surefire competition for the starting job never had the chance to develop.Redshirt senior Lyle Moevao underwent surgery to repair damage to his shoulder in February and has been shut down from practicing until August. Moevao was the starter for most of last se...

Navy is on top of Wake Forest??

Mississippi might knock off Florida???

USC lost to Oregon State????

Oregon State-USCOkay, so we knew that last outcome because it happened on Thursday night. And we shouldn't have been that surprised when upsets happen in college football because, well, upsets happen in college football.

Bea-lieve it! Rodgers and Rodgers Show Leads Oregon State Past Top-Ranked USC

So much for USC being the undisputed best team in the country, eh?
For the second straight time, USC went into Corvallis, fell behind big, rallied, and came up short as the top-ranked Trojans fell 27-21 to Oregon St., a repeat of their 33-31 loss two years ago.
In 2006, USC fell behind 33-10 in the third quarter before drawing with 33-31 and then missing on a two-point conversion that would've sent it overtime.
This time around, the Trojans fell behind 21-0 at halftime and rallied w...

Thursday Matchup: USC Trojans v Oregon St Beavers

Today we feature the lovely co-ed matchup featuring the USC Trojans (-24.5) and the Oregon St Beavers. Quarterback Mark Sanchez has been putting up Heisman like stat completing almost 70 percent of his passes, for 510 yards, with seven TD's. With skill players on the outside like WRs Damian Williams (10 receptions, 140 yards, two TDs) and Patrick Turner (six receptions, 105 yards, one TD), as well as standout youngster Joe McKnight (9.2 yards per carry) in the backfield the Trojans are fa...

Big Ten Week 2 preview

I was going to do a more in depth preview, but my look at Northern Colorado from the summer should suffice. We have a decided advantage in every aspect of the game. It will simply be nice to head to West Lafayette on Saturday and be back in Ross-Ade Stadium for what should be a gorgeous afternoon. Other than that, it is the type of game that can only raise questions instead of find answers.

The rest of the Big Ten is in action against a rather mediocre slate of games. The conference didn't do itself any favors by losing its only difficult games last week, and nearly dropping another one it shouldn't have when Minnesota struggled with Northern Illinois. We could have an 11-0 week this week, as the only difficult game should be Minnesota at a confidant Bowling Green team. That is far from a guarantee since the Falcons beat the Gophers last season in an overtime thriller at the Metrodome. It is the only time a Big Ten team visits a MAC team this year.

Northern Colorado (0-0) at Purdue (0-0)
