The Colorado Avalanche activated defenseman Adam Foote and center Matt Hendricks from injured reserve Saturday. To make room on the roster, Colorado placed defenseman Kyle Cumiskey on IR because of a foot injury and waived defenseman Tom Preissing. Foote missed five games after sustaining a jaw injury on Nov. 17 at Calgary. He was placed on IR on Nov. 27, retroactive to Nov. 17. The Avalanche captain has three assists with a plus-6 in 21 games this season.

DENVER – The Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club announced today that defenseman Adam Foote has been named team captain for the 2009-10 season. “I’m honored to be named Avalanche captain,” said Foote. “I’ve been with this franchise for the majority of my career and I know what the standards are here.
