Avalanche all banged up

The Colorado Avalanche players are falling faster than an Avalanche. First Peter Forsberg re-injured his groin during Thursday's morning skate and was unable to play that night. It looks as though he will be out of game 2 as well as he is listed as questionable. Next on the list is Wojtek Wolski, he had to leave game 1 after a collision with Detroit center Johan Franzen and may not be able to return at all in this series due to an upper body injury. Lastly it looks like the flu bug that hit goalie Jose Theodore before game one is gone as he was back practicing with the team Friday. Theodore was sick enough to leave game one after he was pulled and head straight to the team's hotel to get some much needed rest. As for Detroit they get a player back for today's game, Brad Stuart will be back on the blue line after he missed the first game because he flew back to San Jose to be with his wife and newly born son.

Forsberg is the Key for Avs

Peter Forsberg is the key to the Avalanche beating the Detroit Red Wings in the Western Conference Semi-Finals. Detroit has enjoyed playing the Avs this season going 4-0 against them while outscoring Colorado 11-2. However all of these games were played before Forsberg even signed a deal that brought him back to the mile high city. Even though he has been sidelined with a groin injury and probably needs more rest than any other player in the game, the Avs were 8-1 with him in the lineup in the regular season and 4-2 against Minnesota where he had a goal and 4 helpers in the 6 games. We'll see if Forsberg and company can get some rubber behind the tandem of old goalies and overcome the Presidents Trophy winners to advance to the next round.

Can Forsberg handle the playoff grind?

With the Avalanche missing the playoffs last season for the first time since the move to Colorado, they didn't want a repeat performance this year. So what upper management did was bring back some familiar faces that were key parts to the Avalanche success in the first few years in Colorado. Those faces would be Adam Foote and Peter Forsberg. Forsberg signed a deal on Feb. 25th and the very next day Adam Foote was traded from Columbus for a couple of future draft picks. Since they went back to the future the Avs have been 13-5-1 and Forsberg has 14 points in only 9 games. The question for Forsberg is whether or not he will be able to withstand the grind of the NHL playoffs. He has missed games for a variety of different reasons and the schedule isn't very favorable for him, as the Avs have to play back-to-back games, games 3 and 4.

Should Flyers Sign Lindros?

The flyers are slipping fast in the east, and couldn't land Peter Forsburg due to their 10 game losing streak, they need a boost, and could use a vetren leader. The question i'm asking is should they forget the past and resign Eric Lindros. Bob Clarke is gone and Lindros still has some game left. Instead of Lindros just disappearing, he can skate away into the sunset with the team he started his career with. All im asking for is one more run. GO FLYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is why we didn't want him: Forsberg still can't play

The Colorado Avalanche are quickly learning a lesson that the Flyers and their fans already knew: when healthy, Peter Forsberg is a great player, but when he's hurt, he's a real headache. In Forsberg's last few months with the Flyers, we never knew what we were gonna get from him. He would sit out a few games, play a few, and then sit out again. The Flyers were constantly asked the question of whether Forsberg was going to play, and it had to grow tiresome for the organization. Now the Avalanche are having the same experience.
