Avalanche 4 - Blackhawks 3; Game Highlights

If there's one thing we should know by now about this Avalanche squad, it's that a 2-goal deficit means the game is just getting started. With five minutes left on the clock and a 2-0 deficit, a lot of fans must have been thinking "If we can get just one goal, this game will be ours." I know I did.Look up in the sky...Who better to reward our faith than another gap-toothed favorite, Ryan O'Reilly. In what was thought to be Matt Duchene's year, Ryan O'Reilly has s...

Post-Vegas Rumours

So I have returned from my beautifully relaxing trip to Las Vegas, and return to provide you all with the latest rumours.Let's start in Toronto, where I am hearing a package of Stempniak and one of White/Van Ryn could be on the move for a 2nd Round Pick (2010 or 2011, depending on what the team has available). One team I've heard interested in this sort of package from the Leafs is Nashville. Both Montreal and Ottawa continue to look for a little bit more help on the blueline. While th...

30 Teams/30 Days: Colorado Avalanche

Outlook:
Once a dominant franchise, the Colorado Avalanche have taken a step back in the post-lockout era. Granted, the team has seen their share of injuries, but the Avs have also seen their fare share of departures as well.
Joe Sakic, the team’s leader since they were located in Quebec, has retired after 20 seasons with the organization. While it was time for Sakic to hang up the skates, he was certainly the face of the franchise, and his presence on and off the ice is irreplaceable.

Preview: Introducing the 2009-10 Colorado Avalanche!

NHL season previews often sell you an impressive bill of goods before you realize, at the end of the season, you're holding an empty box. Which makes using advertisements and infomercials the appropriate template for Puck Daddy's 2009-10 NHL Season Previews, presented each day throughout September.Last Season's Ad Copy: Fifteenth in the Western Conference and fifth in the Northwest Division (32-45-5, 69 pts.). Good enough to get their name pulled for the third overall pick in the ...

BT's 2009-10 NHL Season Preview: Colorado Avalanche

As we work our way out of the Southeast division and across the NHL to the Northwest, we get to a team who was once ranked among the NHL's elite.
Some injury-ravaged key players, free agency and a starting goalie void that's been growing larger ever since Patrick Roy's retirement, the Colorado Avalanche have fallen on hard times as of late.
With their recent draft standing and some savvy work with their prospects, the Avs hope to be back to their winning ways and challenging for t...

Avs Talk

from Adrian Dater of All Things Avs,

- I believe the Avs are still trying to move one or more of their older, higher-paid defensemen (though not Adam Foote, he’s got a no-trade). Scott Hannan is one of them I believe, and while he also has a no-trade clause, the Avs could ask him to waive it if they feel they get the right deal. Stay tuned.

- Alex Tanguay still will not become an Av again. And Generalissimo Francisco Franco is still dead.

Midweek Musings

The NHL season is finally starting to get interesting, and it?s time to break it down on a blog that won?t bring you unsubstantiated rumours about former NHL stars signing with the Oilers. - It?s nice to see the Ottawa Senators starting to resemble a hockey team again. After a 1-0 loss to Los Angeles and a 4-3 shootout loss to Boston to open the Cory Clouston era, the Sens have reeled off five victories against a pretty reputable schedule of teams (vs. BUF, at BUF, at PHI, at MIN, at NAS). If...
