I don't usually venture into the world of MLB around here, it doesn't interest me as much until October, but the All Star Game gives me reason every year. My normal irritation is with way these teams are picked...Popularity Contests...Especially with home field advantage for the World Series being decided by the winner. I always wondered why MLB would grant control of such an important thing to the least informed group of people, The Average Fan. I shudder when I think that if my Diamondbacks make the World Series they will have their fate partially decided by the same masses that keep Maury and Jerry Springer on the air.

We all know that the Chicago White Sox were swept by their cross town rivals this past weekend! What most of you don't know (unless you're from Chicago) is that the "cry babies" on the south side couldn't go back to the Cell without having some crass parting words for the Chicago Cubs organization and their fans! Listed below are some parting comments made by Ozzie Guillen & crew before they offically crawled their way back to "The Cell" with their Bibs, Rattlers & Diapers on! Ozzie Guillen: "The rats at Wrigley Field have gotten bigger, they must be lifting weights". A.J. Pierzynski: "Cubs Fans are all idiots". John Danks: "Their Clubhouse smells like someone urinated in it"! Too bad the rest of the organization didn't have a s much class as their GM Kenny Williams! Ummmm....wow. I guess there really isn't anything else left to say. The only thing that was missing was Carlos Zambrano and AJ Pierzynski breakdance fighting in the background.

Several Cubs have hit Vazquez quite well. The Cubs roster as a whole has hit 13 home runs and 14 doubles off of him. Only one White Sox player has more than 9 at bats against Dempster. Orlando Cabrera is 9-28, Thome is 2-9 and AJ Pierzynski is 3-4 with the only home run the Sox have against Dempster.

Wrapping up this weekend's event we saw one of the great rivalries in sports. I'll admit the first couple years of interleague play it was a made for TV event. Cub fans didn't care about the Sox and the same was true of Sox fans. The Cub fans were much, much happier watching the Cubs take down the Red Birds in the Lou than watching them defeat their southern bretheren. Then something happened. Everyone expected a rivalry that wasn't there. Then after a couple years when the Second City Series/Red Line series was ....

This kind of thing happens every year. Fantasy managers are barking about quick, and slow, starters, and message boards are aflame with arguments. Anyone remember Chris Shelton? Unless you're a diehard Motor City Kitties fan, there is only one reason you should have ever heard that name, and it's ridiculous, unsustainable early-season production. The following things will not happen this year: - The Detroit Tigers will not lose 135 games. - The Arizona Diamondbacks will not win 122 games. - Mark Reynolds will not put across 202 RBI. Neither will Joe Crede. - Carlos Pena will not hit 81 home runs. - Johnny Cueto will not finish the season striking out more than 11 batters per nine innings. - No one will finish the season batting .400, even though six batters (Chipper Jones, Jason Kendall, Justin Upton, Nate McLouth, Chone Figgins, AJ Pierzynski) are currently doing so. Them's facts.
