Stats guru and Red Sox senior advisor for baseball operations Bill James has very various theories on what it takes be a major league closer. As you'll read, Joel Piniero exhibits those qualities. Then again, Bill James also "put forward a theory that the team could get by with a four-headed closer by committee -- with disasterous results." Only time will tell.
