Flames stay unbeaten with late goal, shootout win

Nigel Dawes and Olli Jokinen scored in the shootout to give the Calgary Flames their second comeback victory in Edmonton this season, a 4-3 victory over the Oilers on Thursday night. With Edmonton holding a 3-2 lead, Calgary pulled goalie Miikka Kiprusoff and scored with 1.5 seconds left in regulation when Jay Bouwmeester's shot from the point was tipped in by Rene Bourque. Daymond Langkow and Dawes also scored in regulation for the Flames (4-0), who beat the Oilers 4-3 on Saturday.

Wild in the running for Jokinen?

Apparently the Minnesota Wild are in the running for Olli Jokinen but I can't believe that the Doug Risebrough would be smart enough to pull it off based on some of his past moves and last summer decided that he wouldn't trade James Sheppard for Olli Jokinen. I would like to see him in a Wild uniform he would look good on the same line as Mikko Koivu, especially if Gabby doesn't resign.
Olli Jokinen's name is still connected to the Montreal Canadiens. Jokinen is believed to be being considered by at least four teams around the National Hockey League: the Canadiens, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Calgary Flames and the Minnesota Wild. Don Maloney and the Phoenix Coyotes have a decision to make - is the price in return as good right now as it should be to make that move or do you wait until the draft? But the Montreal Canadiens are believed to be very much in the mix.

If you haven't heard, Richard Zednik of the Florida Panther got a serious cut to the neck by his teammate Olli Jokinen. He's in stable condition and is in surgery. Here's the video: If you are squeamish I wouldn't watch but MSG did a nice job not showing all the blood.

Harking back to memories of 1989, Buffalo once again witnessed the scariest injury in hockey as Richard Zednik suffered a cut jugular vein after being hit in the neck by falling teammate, Olli Jokinen on Sunday night. Players immediately waved for training personnel. As the trainers entered the ice, they waved for the stretcher, but it was not needed.

In what would be an unwelcomed bit of bad news to the NHL, Olli Jokinen has been questioned in relation to former NHL player Jere Karalahti's drug ring, which was busted recently by Finnish authorities. Jokinen has refused all opportunities to comment, as Karalahti's case is an ongoing legal matter.
