Houston Texans offensive lineman Chester Pitts was free on bail Friday one day after he was arrested and charged with speeding off during a traffic stop near Reliant Stadium [Pitts free on bail after arrest]. Pitts was released from the city jail early Friday after posting bail, according to a jail attendant. He is scheduled to appear in court Monday. Pitts is facing a charge of felony evading arrest in a motor vehicle, Houston Police Department spokeswoman Gabe Ortiz said. 2. Smush Parker was on the Miami Heat inactive list again Friday night, while the team investigated an altercation earlier in the week between the guard and a valet parking attendant [Parker still not with team…]. Ed Jovanovski has been linked to another trade rumor involving the New York Islanders. He has been approached by the Coyotes to consider waiving his no trade clause. Even though the Coyotes have plenty of defensive help and a bright spot in an ailing franchise, Keith Yandle might be a season away from arriving to NHL form and Matt Jones and Travis Roche still need seasoning in playing the position at the NHL level. Therefore, moving Jovanovski is a little premature.

While the opening days of free agency were more than a little deflating for Islanders and Devils fans - especially given the splash made by the rival Rangers - both organizations appear to be bouncing back nicely after a disappointing start out of the gate. The Isles have signed Ruslan Fedotenko and could be looking at Ed Jovanovski and Mike Comrie. The Devils meanwhile locked up Dainius Zubrus and former-Ranger Karel Rachunek.
