Weekly Poll: Will the Huskies Make the NCAA Tournament?

This is one of the hottest topics of debate among Husky Basketball fans right now.

I believe the Huskies will make the tournament based on what they've shown so far. They were able to compete against a tough Florida team, even though they lost.

The players are starting to mesh together with all the newcomers; Isaiah Thomas and the other freshmen are finding out what their roles are and are starting to fit into them. Pondexter is starting to breakout, and Brockman is as good as advertised.

Barring any major injures, the Huskies should enter Pac-10 conference play with a 10-3 record because of their relatively soft non-conference schedule.

The Pac-10 does not look as strong as it was last year, opening the door for the Dawgs to end up in the top half of the conference. A weak conference schedule gives them a better chance of making the tournament come March.

On the other hand, some point to the Kansas game as a sign of bad things to come for the Huskies. They cite offensive inefficiency, turnovers, 3-point shooting, and free throws all as concerns for the Dawgs. They believe these things and a tough Pac-10 will prevent the Dawgs from making a splash in March.

What do you think? Can the Dawgs make the Tournament or is too early to tell?

REPORT: Abdul Gaddy to UW....Well Almost....

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! The 2nd best point guard from the Class of 2009 is going to play for the Huskies next year after de-committing at Arizona for the 2nd time after Lute Olsen's abrupt retirement.
This report is far from confirmed but Husky Digest is a pretty reliable source. Jim Basnight at Husky Digest links Gaddy's desire to play with incoming freshman Isaiah Thomas in his likely commitment to the University of Washington.
If this report stands true, then expect an official committment to be made soon before the high school season starts up. Highly-touted recruits usually like to get their college choice out of the way before the beginning of the season.

Gaddy's commitment would mean that the Huskies could possibly have one of the most talented backcourts in not only the Pac-10 but in the Nation going into the '09-'10 college basketball season. Venoy Overton, Isaiah Thomas, and Abdul Gaddy would form a formidible triplet of talent.

Update: Seattle Times is reporting that UCLA and UW are his finalists.

Carl from Aqua Teen Hunger Force has also released a diatribe about how crappy the 2007 World Series was. While I can't help but agree with his feelings about the Colorado Rockies, the part about the Red Sox is just sad. The real highlight though might be his thoughts on Isaiah Thomas (who must be devastated the Yankees are still getting all the press even though basketball season has started). Is it as good as his end-of-season comments on the Mets and Yankees? We'll let you decide….
