Jersey Fouls: Ham-berger, Redskins Ovie and Heatley hate

Jersey Fouls is our ongoing exploration of the rules and etiquette for proper hockey jersey creation and exhibition. If you spot what you think may be a foul in your arena, e-mail a photo to us at puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com for inclusion in future installments. The doors at Wachovia Center are evidently large enough to accommodate the Philadelphia Phillies bandwagon, as Puck Buddy Melissa L. sent over this multi-sport Frankenjersey (OK, Franken-T-Shirt ... we think) Foul from a Philadelphia Flyer...

50MC's 2009-2010 Fearless Fantasy Forecast: Nikita Filatov

With Fredrik Modin out for the next four to six weeks due to an MCL strain, Nikita Filatov is surely to make the Columbus Blue Jackets, right?

Anything is possible with Ken Hitchcock at the helm. As well as Filatov has played this training camp, Hitchcock has a tendency to slowly bring up young players. He does not give his rookies much playing time or give them much responsibility.
However, with the slew of injuries and a changing of the guard in Columbus, Hitchcock may be forced to not onl...

Tough Preseason ContinuesJust saw the video of the ugly fall that Tom Sestito had at the end of his fight with Nashville's Jordan Tootoo. The league has to crack down on the chinstraps to try to prevent injuries like this one. Ten staples needed to close the gash on the back of his head. The video shows his helmet easily pop off when trying to duck under Tootoo's arm.Add this injury to hard luck Fredrik Modin and the preseason is looking grim. Modin's right knee collided with that...

Trades at the DeadlineGM Howson sought to make a move to shore up the glaring weakness of the team - at the center position. The Jackets traded injured goalie Pascal Leclaire and a second-round pick in the 2009 draft to Ottawa for winger Antoine Vermette. Known to be a solid two-way player who possess great speed, Vermette has only nine goals and 19 assists in 62 games this year and is under contract for next season. Howson commented, “He’s a 20-goal guy who’s not having a 20-goal year. Hopef...

A New Beginning?

Blue Jackets 5, Oilers 4 (Box Score) - Highlights 5-6-2, 12 points (4th division, 10th conference) In the spirit of the Browns' new beginning tonight, I thought I'd take this opportunity to highlight what might be a similar new beginning. I would take the same results, anyway. The Blue Jackets ...
