Puck Previews: Bruins, Blues seek streak; Lappy back in Denver

Here are your Puck Previews: Spotlighting the key games in NHL action, news and views as well as general frivolity. Make sure to stop back here for the nightly Three Stars when the games are finished. Preview: Boston Bruins at St. Louis Blues, 8 p.m. EST. OK, so a three-game winning streak isn't exactly shattering NHL records. But for two underperforming teams like the B's and Blues, it's a pretty big deal, and one of them will have a three-gamer for the first time this season aft...

Marc Savard returns to the Bruins

This is very good news for the Boston Bruins who are starved for goal scoring. Also, it helps me because I get one of my fantasy hockey players back in my hockey pool. Of course sitting in 8th place in a 10 team league isn't all that impressive.

Marc Savard, out of the lineup since Oct. 17 against Phoenix, will be back in uniform tonight after recovering from a broken left foot. Savard will center the No. 1 line between Marco Sturm and Byron Bitz.
[Bruins Blog]

Can these two men rescue the Bruins from panic mode?

There have been two positive developments for the Boston Bruins in the last few days, which is a welcome change from their pedestrian 8-8-4 start; good for 20 points and 11th in the Eastern Conference, which is a shock to the system for a team that was 11-3-4 at this point last season. Good News No. 1: Bill Belichick decided to go for it on 4th-and-2 against the Colts, which caused the mass mobilization of all Boston sports media assets in order to dissect the call down to the quarter-inch.
Savard and Bruins in contract talks.

The Boston Bruins better think long and hard, without Marc Savard in their line up they are having a tough time scoring goals, frankly they are not very good and are very boring to watch. This past season the Bruins let Phil Kessel go to Toronto and this ill advised move will probably turn out to be a horrible transaction, because the Bruins can't score goals. Players with Marc Savard's talent and skill don't come around very often.

Time running out for Savard-Bruins pact

The agent for star center Marc Savard says contract talks continue with the Boston Bruins, but time is also becoming of the essence.

"We continue to discuss regularly," agent Larry Kelly told ESPN.com Monday night at the Hockey Hall of Fame. "Both sides are interested in getting something done. But obviously there are issues we are working through."

The longer it takes, the closer Savard gets to July 1, when he would become an unrestricted free agent. It's clear from what Kelly said that the clock is ticking.
Bruins' top scorer out 4-6 weeks with broken foot

The Boston Bruins scoring leader Marc Savard will miss four to six weeks with a broken left foot. The team's announcement Wednesday did not say when Savard injured the foot. The forward has led the team in scoring each of the past three years. He did not miss a game last season, when he had 25 goals and 63 assists for 88 points. He has four goals and three assists this season. The team recalled 32-year-old forward Trent Whitfield from Providence.

by Adam GretzFiled under: Bruins, NHL Fans, NHL VideosFanHouse's Adam Gretz takes a look at his top 50 players in the NHL. No. 24 is Boston Bruins forward Marc Savard. In perfect 20/20 hindsight, the New York Rangers and Calgary Flames might regret their decisions to trade Marc Savard. One of the players at the forefront of the Boston Bruins' return to relevance the past two years, Savard was traded twice early in his career for what turned out to be (again, in hindsight) underwhelming...
