Future Free Agent Mistake Power Rankings

The annual tradition is back for the first time! The Giants will certainly make a free agent mistake soon, and the following rankings are an attempt to determine which mistake is the likeliest. This is not for wagering purposes, though what I don't know doesn't hurt me.
And I'm not really in an especially bad or cynical mood today, but grumpy and cynical is all this idea seems to evoke....

Does Hank Blalock deserve a look at 1B from the Mets?

I was just listening to some hot stove talk on MLB.com during which they were discussing free agent Hank Blalock. At just 29 years old, Blalock represents a young, experienced option for the Mets. He had a tough stretch in...

Would another lefty hitter like Hank Blalock, right, be the best fit for the Pirates?

Straight to the point today: one thing I find a bit strange about the idea of the Pirates pursuing Rick Ankiel and/or Hank Blalock is that both those guys are left-handed, whereas most of the Bucs' other options at first base and right field (Garrett J...

Pirates Kicking The Tires On Ankiel & Blalock

The Pirates are believed to have already made contact with Scott Boras about two of his clients, free agents Rick Ankiel and Hank Blalock, according to Dejan Kovacevic of The Pittsburgh Post Gazette. The team's preference "is for a short-term contract aimed at allowing the player a chance at full-time duty to revive their careers."
With Andrew McCutchen in center and Lastings Milledge serving the default leftfielder, the idea is that late-bloomer Garrett Jones would play e...

What the f^ck

Awesome article I just read off the Yahoo site....(article here) It foretells the future by indicating that the Rangers are firing Hank Blalock. Ron Washington quoted as saying they "just don't see any playing time for him". I have a soft spot for franchise players. It tells me that this guy likes the game and may not all be about the money. So here we are, mathematically eliminated again from any possibility of post season play and the retarded antics from the Hick's office...

Does Hank Blalock make sense...

The 28 y/o left handed hitter player is a free agent at the end of the year and MLBTR speculated that the Mets could take a look at him.Blalock was originally a 3B who solely played the position for his first six seasons, after suffering through two injury plagued seasons (2007-2008) he reluctantly moved to 1B. This season he played strictly 1B and apparently 3B is not an option, his shoulder will not allow him to make the throw across the diamond. Prior to his shoulder injuries Blalock was a...

Free Agent at the End of the Season: Hank Blalock

If I could sum up Hank Blalock's career so far in a word, there's no doubt that I'd choose disappointing. It's disappointing to see a player of Blalock's ability fail to live up to his potential (in large part because of injuries). You have to remember just how great Blalock's first two seasons were with the Rangers; he tore the cover off the ball and looked like a guy, who could hit 40+ HRs a year and become the Rangers third baseman for at least the next decade. But t...
