Talking About Pitch Counts

ShysterBall had a post yesterday about the science of pitch counts, citing an article that suggested that teams should look a little more closely at how their pitchers tire during the game. Sometimes a simple pitch count doesn’t tell the whole story.

However, the most interesting part of the post to me was a section that highlighted a couple of guys and their ridiculous pitch counts. First was Washington’s Tom Cheney, who in 1962 threw a complete game…in 16 innings. ...

No Beard, Just ‘Stache

For years the Yankees have had a no facial hair below the lip policy and with the transition from The Boss to Hal Steinbrenner people have wondered if the rule is still in effect.
Well aparently that answer is yes.
CC Sabathia showed up to camp this week sporting a neatly trimmed beard and apparently Brian Cashman [...]

Giants Fans Might have a Ray of Hope Coming

Well this is a shocker.

Rumors from the Baseball Winter Meetings are that big time and big bellied pitcher CC Sabathia has officially said 'No!" to the New York Yankees mega $140,000,000 offer. And the rumors are that he is very close to joining the San Francisco Giants. Seriously.

Red Sox to meet with CC Sabathia

Boston bigwigs are going to have a sit-down with CC Sabathia and his agent this week. I wouldn't get too worried (I personally don't want him) because I think this is mainly just a maneuver to drive up the price for the Yankees and Angels. If both of those teams throw $150 mil at Sabathia then it seems doubtful they'll do the same thing for Mark Teixiera. That equals one less team in the race for Teixiera's services and a better chance for the Red Sox to scoop him up.

Makes perfect sense to me.

Did the Knicks just help the Yanks?

From Buster Olney: Sabathia, in the end, may take the largest offer that he will receive -- and in the end, the largest offer will come from the Yankees. But other factors, such as friendships, will be a factor in how Sabathia decides, and the Yankees might have gotten very lucky on Friday. The ...

Giants, Angels After Sabathia

According to Tom Haudricourt, the Giants and Angels will enter the bidding for free agent pitcher CC Sabathia. The Yankees and Brewers already have offers on the table, and the Dodgers are still considering making him an offer. Several insiders believe Sabathia has not pounced on the Yankees offer because of his preference for the NL, so if the Giants make a solid offer, he could jump on it. Sources with knowledge of Giants plans have informed me that the Giants will make Sabathia an offer that will pay him more annually, but not as much in total contract. So a five year deal worth 100-115 million dollars makes sense.
This story was approved by MLB Rumors.
