Q-School: 5 Things you need to know

That's a wrap. Q-School as we know it is finished. This final edition featured the standard storylines that this unique event has built its reputation on. Here are 5 Things you need to know from Monday's play at PGA West:

1. TAKE ME TO YOUR LEE-DER: Dong-Hwan Lee walked away with the $50,000 winner's check. His countryman, Si Woo Kim, also earned a PGA Tour card. This is the third consecutive year multiple Koreans have graduated Q-School; no country, other than the United States, has accomplished that. Lee shot 67 Monday to finish at 25-under 407, one shot ahead of 2010 European Ryder Cup team member Ross Fisher and Web.com Tour player Steve LeBrun.

Lee's victory will give him good status on the PGA Tour's West Coast Swing. Kim, who tied for 20th, won't be able to take advantage of his status for several months, until he turns 18 on June 28. That will leave him just seven weeks, and a handful of events, to try to retain his card.

Lee, 25, is a two-time Japan Tour winner. He served i

Nervous time: Q-School's final day

Five rounds are finished at PGA Tour Q-School. Just one remains. The leaders have to tackle PGA West's Stadium Course on Monday in order to earn PGA Tour cards. It's the more difficult of the two layouts in use this week, and while it yields plenty of birdies, there's also plenty of trouble. Water lines several holes, including the island-green, par-3 17th. It should be a fun finish, at least for spectators. Here's 5 Things you need to know after the fifth round. Steven Bowditch, who shot an 8-under 64 Sunday, is at 23-under 337, one ahead of Kris Blanks. Derek Ernst, Steve LeBrun and Edward Loar are two shots back.

1. FUN TIMES AHEAD? Billy Horschel earned PGA Tour cards at two previous Q-Schools (2009, '10). He can offer perspective about what awaits players Monday.

"Tomorrow is never fun, especially if it's your first time," Horschel said. "I don't care who you are. Anyone who says otherwise is just putting on a front. Sometimes you have to do that to psych your

PGA Tour beats mopping the floors

The fourth round of PGA Tour Q-School is in the books. The fortunate souls are only 36 holes from their PGA Tour cards. Here are Five Things you need to know from Saturday at PGA Tour Q-School as we moved past the halfway point:

1. Good training

Lee Dong-hwan says the approximately two years he spent in the South Korean military was good for his golf career. Sure, he could only practice when on leave, a four-day vacation every two months, and it took him six months to recover his game. But being away from his profession for so long made him regain his love for it.

"It definitely helped me because I like golf so much, I took for granted how precious it was," Kim said through a translator after his Saturday 64 at Q-School. "To be forced to miss something you love, I had the strong urge to come back and play."

Lee is on the verge of earning the right to ply his trade on the world's biggest stage. At 19-under-par 269, he has a two-shot lead with two rounds remaining at PGA Tour Q-Scho

5 Things: Q-School drama tees off

No one wants to arrive at Q-School underprepared, but what can you do when you were a continent away just three days earlier?

A handful of European Tour players are plying their trade in this final Q-School that will offer PGA Tour cards. They played their home circuit's season finale, last week's DP World Tour Championship in Dubai, before arriving at the California desert.

Many took a 16-hour direct flight from Dubai to Los Angeles on Monday morning, arriving in California around 1 p.m. A 140-mile drive through L.A.'s famed traffic followed, getting them to La Quinta after dark Monday evening.

"The traffic in Los Angeles in horrendous," said Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano, the world's No. 33 player. "I didn't have a GPS so that was quite an accomplishment, getting here without getting lost."

Earning a PGA Tour card is his next goal. Five of the 60 players who competed last week in Dubai are at Q-School. Four of those five are ranked in the top 60 in the Official World
