And the Dominoes Begin to Fall: Myers Says His Phillies Career is Over

Wow. That happened a lot faster than I anticipated. One of the key pieces of the Phillies magical run over the past two seasons is reportedly done as a Phillie.
"I officially won’t be a Phillie next year," Myers told the Inquirer's Jim Salisbury. Ruben Amaro Jr. met with Myers today and told him his time in Philadelphia has come to an end and thanked him for his work.

"I was just like, 'OK, thanks for putting up with my (stuff),'" Myers said. "He...

Is It about the trade or the production?

Boston Red Sox GM Theo Epstein has been an iconic hero to Red Sox fans all over this great land. For me it started when he visited Curt Schilling at his Arizona home back on Thanksgiving of 2003 and refused to leave until Schilling agreed to be part of the ole town team. With two World Series titles under his belt i still have to wonder if Theo is more interested in getting a diamond in the rough in a deal then the production of his baseball club. Now reading that last sentence most will s...

Curt Schilling Not Done Promoting Curt Schilling

Sure, Curt Schilling has all the trappings of a politician: he's a smug, self-righteous blowhard with a penchant for fondling other people's wives. But is he shameless or delusional enough to gun for Teddy K's vacant Senate seat? Maybe so. Schilling announced on his blog earlier today that he does have some "interest in the possibility." Of course, Curt is a Republican, has no political experience and would be running in a Democratic state in the footsteps of a deceased ...

Curt Schilling's 38 Studios Appoints New CEO

Former Red Sox, D-Back, and Phillies pitcher Curt Schilling's 38 Studios (www.38studios.com) on Friday announced Jennifer MacLean as the company's new CEO. MacLean was senior vice president of business development.
The announcement comes at the departure of Brett Close as president and CEO. In this role since 2007, Close led the vision and development of the company and its intellectual property, Project Copernicus, and its largest iteration, a massively multiplayer online game.
“I've had the privilege of building 38 Studios to become an established force of IP creation and entertainment,” said Brett Close. “I leave with confidence in the future success of the company and have no doubt its products will excite gamers worldwide.”
Curt Schilling, founder and chairman of 38 Studios stated, “I'm proud to appoint as head of our company such a deserving and extraordinary member of the 38 Studios team. As the new chief executive, Jen will continue the journey in delivering on our vision of creating new entertainment experiences. Brett's leadership over the last three years has well-positioned 38 Studios for the next phase of the company's development. The entire 38 Studios team wishes Brett much success in all his future endeavors.”
Prior to joining 38 Studios in March 2008, MacLean was vice president and general manager of games at Comcast, the largest cable company in the United States. Chairwoman Emeritus of the Independent Game Developers Association, named by Gamasutra as one of the “Top 20 Women in Games,” and listed by Next Generation as one of the game industry’s “100 Most Influential Women,” MacLean has more than fifteen years of extensive experience in online content and interactive entertainment and holds an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School.
“It’s an honor for me to have the opportunity to further contribute to 38 Studios’ future,” stated MacLean. “38 Studios has a high level of responsibility to our consumers and the industry and I will ensure we deliver on that promise. I’m excited about leading the incredible developers here and expanding our strategic vision of allowing customers to interact with our products and stories where, when, and how they want.”
38 Studios, an entertainment and IP creation company, was founded in 2006 by Schilling, and is developing an original fantasy IP driven by the creative and artistic visions of pop-culture icons R. A. Salvatore and Todd McFarlane.

Curt Schilling's surgery goes well

Curt Schilling is like a super hero in a comic book. Just when you think he's down for the count, he finds some way to throw himself back into the picture and vanquish his foes.

Curt underwent his shoulder surgery yesterday and Dr. Morgan said that #38 can begin some light throwing in as little as 4 months. The rotator cuff hadn't torn like they thought it did and the surgery was declared a success. Schilling could be pitching off a mound by January at the earliest.

Not to spit in the face of Red Sox management and doctors but wouldn't the situation have been solved if they had let Curt undergo the surgery months ago?

We Need to Put Pressure on Schilling

Getting back home with a "W" from Fenway would have been nice but we can't worry about that now. We know what we are up against and there is not one guy in this clubhouse who doesn't think we can get the job done. Getting back home is going to help, we have responded at home all season and led the league in home wins for a reason. Beyond that, we need to play our game. You saw us play our style of ball in Boston in Game 2 but we just couldn't finish the deal. I think you will see this team come out strong today and hopefully carry some momentum through the series.

We need to get pressure on Schilling today. A polished guy like him is going to be prepared for each of our hitters. We need to recognize what he is trying to do out there and capitalize on any mistakes. Getting baserunners early and applying the pressure with our speed is how we do that. That's our game and that's how we are successful.

As I said before, getting home helps. The fans here have been great all season, actually they have been great as long as I can remember. We need to feed off the energy from the home crowd and perform on the field.

There isn't too much info on the company he's starting, but I did enjoy this quote from the New England Sports Hub that pretty much sums up what to expect from the Red Sox pitcher. "Curt will be fat and happy playing his own version of Everquest."
