As Walt Jocketty spends his time in Chicago, cozying up to the other GMs for a long Winter's nap season of dealing, he appears to have two priorities on his mind: shortstop and catcher. The Reds had reportedly been trying to deal with the Brewers ...

Is Marco Scutaro a Fit in Boston?

MLB Trade Rumors posted its list of the 50 top free agents including where they think each one will end up. They have Holliday going to the Mets, Lackey going to the Yanks and Bay returning to Boston. They also include Marco Scutaro going to the Red Sox:

Marco Scutaro - Red Sox. It's difficult to place Scutaro, because not many teams with shortstop vacancies will be willing to pay the three years and $18MM+ he'll likely demand. The Sox would be getting the best available short...

Why They Hate J.P.

From an article on TSN.ca, about why the Toronto Blue Jays should pass on Marco Scutaro:"In other words, the Blue Jays need to tread carefully before they offer a contract to a 34-year old player who is coming off what author Malcolm Gladwell would classify as an 'outlier' season - formally known as a career-year. ... To make an example that is recently relevant to the Blue Jays would easily be the signing of Frank Thomas. Let's be clear, I'm not comparing Thomas to Scuta...

There isn't all that much for Blue Jay news this morning, but before I get to what there is: I forgot to check out our World Series predictions right after it ended, likely due to sadness that the Yankees won. Looking back I see that Masterkembo was the only one to guess Yankees in 6. Good job sir.
Two more Jays have filed for free agency. Marco Scutaro and John McDonald. I'm sure Barajas will soon to so soon too. The Jays have exclusive rights to negotiate with them until ...

Free Agent at the End of the Season: Marco Scutaro

Marco Scuataro has always been thought of as a nice player. Before this year, Scutaro was thought of as nothing more than a backup middle infielder, who could play some solid defense, hit for some power, and come up with the occasional clutch hit.But this season, Scutaro was given the chance to play everyday at short for the Blue Jays and he's taken the opportunity and run with it. Scutaro has emerged as a tremendous shortstop and leadoff hitter and he's set new career highs (so far) ...

3 umps get behind plate as Rays lose vital game

Marco Scutaro scored the winning run on a wild pitch after Rays closer J.P. Howell loaded the bases with three walks, and the Toronto Blue Jays rallies to beat Tampa Bay on Wednesday night in a game in which two umpires were injured.

Rod Barajas hit a tying pinch-hit homer off Howell (6-4) with one out in the ninth. After the three walks and with rookie Randy Ruiz up, Howell uncorked a wild pitch that bounced high and away from catcher Gregg Zaun, allowing Scutaro to score without a play.
