Bigfoot Silva is the Tim Boetsch of the Heavyweight Division

We all remember what happened to Tim Boetsch, the man who somehow found himself amongst the best middleweights in the world even though he didn’t deserve to be there, not too long ago. Through means of luck and not so much skill, Boetsch beat top contenders Yushin Okami and Hector Lombard. He’s not better than either of these guys, but due to a few bizarre circumstances, Boetsch’s hand was raised.

Okami dominated Boetsch throughout the majority of the fight but got caught with an uppercut to the chin late in the third round, which Boetsch capitalized on to get the win. Then he faced Hector Lombard, who would have run through Boetsch had not been for the infamous octagon jitters that have caused many highly-touted prospects to choke in their UFC debut.

Surely enough, karma came full circle for Timmy a few months later when multiple injuries he sustained during his fight with Costa Philippou allowed the Cypriot to earn a TKO on a downed and helpless Boetsch.

Luck does not strike th...

UFC 156 Moment in Violence: 'Bigfoot' exposed 'The Reem'

My partner in crime and @SoundandFuryMMA co-host Dan Rose made a great point during our first podcast this past Friday. He mentioned names like Tony Sylvester, James Thompson, Kazuyuki Fujita, Todd Duffee. He even made light of Reem's unimpressive win over a top guys like Werdum, and a Brock Lesnar who had just came of what ended up essentially being MMA career ending diverticulitis surgery. Alistair Overeem's 12-fight unbeaten streak since 2007 had the potential to become one of the greatest runs of all-time if he could've beaten Bigfoot and followed by capturing the UFC Heavyweight title. After what we saw last night though, it appears that maybe Reem is nothing but a can crusher with incredible kickboxing chops. A man that beyond 5 minutes is really a threat to no one but himself.

Glorified Violence: Bigfoot Sleeps Overeem

Well, in case you missed it, Alistair Overeem got a little full of himself Saturday night, and wound up on the business end of a whirlwind TKO. Reem controlled the action for the first two rounds, but Silva went Hulk Smash seconds into the third, landing rights, lefts, a high kick, more rights, maybe another left....ah hell, just see for yourself.

It was a surprising TKO that shocked the MMA World and sent Twitter into an uproar of disbelief and hysteria. Oh the humanity.

UFC 156 Results: 'Bigfoot' Silva crumbles Alistair Overeem with a vicious assault

The Reem is back ladies and gentleman. This fight is brought to you by corn nuts. Not to be confused with horse meat.

Round 1:
Reem is just waiting for his opening early. Lands a left on the body of Foot and the two clinch. Seperate, Reem lands one shot again and they do some cage work. Overeem lands some knees to the chest and leg of Foot. Foot paws at the midsection of Reem. Foot goes for the take down and Reem quickly reverses planting Foot against the cage. More knees from Reem and little punches from Bigfoot. Reem backs off. Reem showing total disregard for his opponents stand up game. Hands are down. Almost Anderson Silvaesque. Huge leg kick but Foot answers. Very slow pace so far. Reem with more knees to the chest of the giant against the cage. The round ends and it'...

UFC on FX: Browne vs Bigfoot Fighter Salaries

It was a big night for the man they call Bigfoot. Antonio Silva earned his first UFC victory, and walked away with the biggest paycheck at UFC on FX: Browne vs Bigfoot.

Before we go any further, we should note that the Minnesota Athletic Commission doesn't officially release fighter pay info, so none of the following salary data for the event is official. However, you can get a fairly accurate picture of a fighter's pay based on official purse info released from past fights. So, based on that info, here is the estimated pay breakdown for the fighters that traded blows at the event (but please remember - this is only an estimate, not official info, especially for any fighters that made their UFC debuts at the event).

UFC 146 Results: Velasquez bloods Bigfoot en route to a dominating TKO finish

It started with a quick takedown after a poor kick attempt from Silva, followed by one short elbow to the bridge of Bigfoot's nose. What followed was a relentless striking attack from the former UFC Champion Cain Velasquez all over the blooded face of Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva. Referee Josh Rosenthal made sure to have the doctor check Silva's cut due to the blood pouring into his eyeballs. The fight continued and so did the dominance of Velasquez - his performance tonight separates him from the rest of the division, putting him right back in line for a title shot against the winner of Dos Santos vs. Mir.

Final Result: Cain Velasquez (10-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) defeats Antonio Silva (16-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) via TKO (strikes) (Round 1, 3:36)

Antonio ‘Bigfoot’ Silva: Alistair Overeem Was Why I Left Blackzilians

Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva (Pictured) has no interest in fraternizing with the enemy, that’s why the former Strikeforce star decided to leave the Blackzilians after fellow heavyweight Alistair Overeem joined the squad in February.
“I always take care of my camp and make sure I’m surrounded with the right people,” Silva stated during Tuesday’s UFC 146 press conference. “I was training at the Blackzilians, and I think it’s inevitable, Alistair Overeem and I are on a collision course and there is a possibility of us fighting one another one day.
“So when I heard he was going there, I decided to take my camp elsewhere.”
The Brazilian subsequently decided to take his talents back to America Top Team, the famed academy that polished Silva’s skills throughout much of his career. “Bigfoot’s” return to familiar turf comes at a critical stage in his career, as the 32-year-old is set to make his big league debut when he meets Roy Nelson at UFC 146.
His Octagon arrival has been a long time com
