Rich Franklin vs Matt Hamill Set for UFC 88

MMA Rated first reported and more recently confirmed that Rich "Ace" Franklin will move up in weight to the 205lb light heavyweight division to face three-time NCAA Division III national wrestling champ and "The Ultimate Fighter 3" standout Matt Hamill.

Franklin makes the move after middleweight champ Anderson Silva, whom he was beaten badly by twice, made the same decision to move up to the light heavyweight division just a week or so ago. UFC 88: "Breakthrough" will take place at the Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA with a main event featuring Chuck Liddell vs Rashad Evans.

The 205lb. division, which was already stacked now has what many consider to be the best pound for pound fighter in the world in Silva and Franklin who many consider the best middleweight around besides Silva.

When Dana White and the UFC created The Ultimate Fighter reality television series, they could only dream that one of the fighters that won the show would one day being a World Champion for the organization. Matt Serra fought on the show, won it and eventually won a title, but Forrest Griffin became the first true competitor from the show to achieve World Champion status.

UFC 88 is set to take place in Atlanta, Georgia, on September 6th. and so far it's shaping up to be a great night of fights. There are several big names on the card and the show will have a main event of Chuck Liddell taking on Rashad Evans. There is one fight that isn't on the card but should be. Dan Henderson and Rich Franklin are both on the card but should be squaring off against each other.

Chuck Liddell vs. Rashad Evans is back on again

Chuck Liddell and Rashad Evans will face each other at UFC 88 in Atlanta, Georgia, in September. The two were originally scheduled to fight this past weekend in London, but injuries to both fighters caused the cancellation of the fight. Liddell, the former light-heavyweight champion will take on Evans, the winner of season two of The Ultimate Fighter.

I did not agree with McCarthy labeling of Bisping, but it did get me thinking about who I think the most overrated fighter in the world is. I kept coming back to one man, Tito Ortiz.

UFC President Dana White needs to swallow his pride

First, Shogun Rua had to pull out of his fight with Chuck Liddell with an injury. Dana White was able to get Rashad Evans to fill in for Rua. Now, Liddell has been forced to withdraw due to an injury as well. White got James Irvin to fill in for Liddell. Talk about going from the penthouse to the outhouse. White went from having one of the most anticipated fights in UFC history to a fight that even hardcore fans don't care much about. Even the rumored addition of Chris Leben versus Michael Bisping won't be able to salvage a mediocre pay-per-view.

After getting the chance of a lifetime to face Chuck Liddell at UFC 85, Rashad Evans is now left without an opponent after Liddell withdrew from the event due to a torn right hamstring sustained in his training last week. Evans stepped up to face Liddell after Liddell's original opponent, Mauricio Rua, had to pull out due to an ACL injury. Evans must now play the waiting game.
