ACTA Sports has begun taking orders for The Bill James Handbook 2010, which customarily will include James' projections for every major league player. (Full disclosure: ACTA occasionally sends me a review copy of one of their books, and I am totally in the bag for them.)

Indians Notes: Nakamura, Sizemore, Acta

A few Cleveland Indians-related links to sort through this morning. Let's take a look....
The Indians will sign Japanese right-hander Takafumi Nakamura to a minor-league deal, according to Patrick Newman at NPB Tracker. Newman suggests that the Chuo University pitcher isn't one of the more "high-profile" draft prospects, but that he has shown he can strike out college hitters. An official contract should come sometime soon.

Grady Sizemore having way more fun than postseason players

Yeah these pictures might be old but they're certainly appropriate given it's the post season right now. Which kind of begs the question: What would you rather be doing right now? Playing baseball in cold weather having to try and hit freezing fastballs or warming up to a cozy Brittany Binger?

Surgery for Sizemore? Dots say yes

Without actually saying it... Anthony Castrovince is saying that we may finally get our wish with Grady Sizemore being shut down for the rest of the season so he can undergo the surgery that he needs to fix his elbow.

@castrovince: Sizemore not in lineup, Brantley leading off and head trainer Lonnie Soloff meeting w/media @ 4:30. This can only mean we're trading Peralta.
Wow so much Peralta malice lately, I don't know what's gotten into me.

Anyway...

Today's lineup...

CF Brantley
LF Carroll
SS Cabrera
3B Peralta
DH Hafner
RF LaPorta
2B Valbuena
1B Marte
C Shoppach

Next Year's Lineup..

LF Brantley
SS Cabrera
CF Sizemore
RF Choo
3b Peralta
DH Hafner
1B LaPorta
2B Valbuena
C Marson

Maybe?

My god what is going on here!?

Man and this sucks because I just finished this article an hour before the news came out.

Interesting developments.... Indeed

Soloff will deliver the news, or some sort of news, at 4:30ish.. Okay.. Brantley will lead off at 7:05.. Or probably ten or twenty minutes after that since the Indians don't bat first.

Carl Pavano returns tonight!
