Brewers walk-off on a beautiful Saturday night

Dave Bush pitched his second consecutive gem at Miller Park on Saturday night in a 2-1 Brewers win. Bush went eight innings giving up only one run on four hits while striking out seven. He took a no-decision but he has now made back-to-back starts at Miller Park going eight innings and giving up only a single run.

Dave Bush flashes back to old form, Brewers lose

Monday night in Phoenix, Dave Bush reverted back to his early season form and struggled on the mound. Bush gave up five runs on nine hits in only five innings of work in a 6-3 Brewers loss to the Diamondbacks. Bush fell to 4-8 on the season.

Dave Bush pitches another gem; Brewers continue to roll

Dave Bush continued one of the best in-season turnarounds in recent Brewers' history. After being sent down to Nashville earlier in the season, Bush has now pitched two great games in a row. Bush shut down the Braves offense allowing only one run and four hits over seven innings Tuesday night. He walked just one and struck out five to pick up his fourth win of the season.

Nothing goes right for the Brewers

I waited to talk about yesterday's game because I was hoping the sickening feeling I had watching it would have gone away by now, but time has still not healed that wound. I shouldn't have been surprised because it seems like the Twins always spank the Brewers when they come to Miller Park and Friday night's 10-2 loss to the Twins was no different.

No offense+ Bad starting pitching= Another Brewers' loss

It was another rough night for Brewers' pitcher Dave Bush. After back-to-back great performances, Bush was due for a lousy outing and that's exactly what he had Saturday night against the Rockies. Bush lasted only four innings while giving up five runs and two homers. All of the damage against Bush came in the first inning. After getting the first two outs with relative ease, Bush allowed a double by Ryan Spilborghs and then walked Todd Helton and Garrett Atkins to load the bases. Brad Hawpe immediately cleared the bases with his second career grand slam. Chris Iannetta promptly followed that up with a home run and the Brewers were in a 5-0 hole after only one inning.

Brewers take game, series from Astros

For years the Houston Astros were famous for their Killer B's of Bagwell, Biggio and Berkman. On Sunday afternoon, the Brewers found their own B's to pull out another victory: Bush, Braun and the bench.

Dave Bush went seven innings for the second time this season and he did it in consecutive starts. Early on it looked like it could be a typical Dave Bush start. He gave up a home run in the first inning to former Brewers player, Mark Loretta. Bush stayed composed and got through the first without any further damage. In fact, Bush only gave up four hits and that lone run in his seven innings. He struck out five and most importantly walked no one.

Bush shines, Brewers walk-off in style

Dave Bush had his best outing of the season last night against the Atlanta Braves. Unfortunately, the bats didn't wake up until after he had left the game, so Bush got a no decision.

Bush pitched seven innnings while only giving up two solo home runs. The first came in the first inning by Kelly Johnson and the second came the following inning by Gregor Blanco. After that, Bush was lights out. He gave up only six hits and walked a lone batter in pitching his longest outing of the season.

Brewers bats, not Dave Bush, cost team the victory

People are going to look at the box score and see that Dave Bush took the loss on Thursday night and immediately put the blame on him. While he did only pitch five innings and gave up nine hits and six runs, Bush showed positive signs by not walking anybody. After giving up a two-run home run to Jason Bay in the fourth, Bush appeared visibly shaken and was never able to recover.

Brewers drop game, series to Dodgers

For the first six innings yesterday Ben Sheets pitched lights-out and it appeared that if the offense could just tally a single run, they would take the game and series. That thought went up in flames in the top of the seventh. Sheets gave up six hits and six runs while only recording one out in the inning. The Brewers trailed 6-0 and Sheets was out of the game.

The offense went back into their season-long funk and could only muster two runs which included the tenth home run of the season by Ryan Braun.

Sheets is Sheets and Gagne is well…not the Gagne of old

The Brewers lost to the Cardinals on Saturday, 5-3. Although Eric Gagne didn't blow another save, he did take the loss, his second of the season, after allowing the Cardinals to load the bases and score two in the top of the ninth. Gagne walked one and gave up three hits in his only inning of work.

Ben Sheets did what he does; he pitched seven innings and only gave up three runs, keeping the Brewers in the game. Sheets struck out six batters to become the Brewers all-time leader in strikeouts. He left the game trailing 3-0, but the Brewers rallied to ensure a no decision.

Series Recap: Phillies at Brewers

A quick two games series saw Philadelphia arrive in Milwaukee sometime early Wednesday morning and head out of town before dinner on Thursday. That short time saw the return of a Brewers' great and the return of our current superstar.

So the Brewers won one and lost one. Jeff Suppan deserved a better fate on Thursday than to have David Riske blow it for him. Dave Bush pitched well enough to keep the Brewers in the game so Prince Fielder could play the role of hero.

WTF Chuck?!

What the f@#k Chuck?! The curse of the dumbass finally broke through this season as Charles Fuqua Manuel notched his first loss of the season. Overall, I was pleased with Manuel's managing through April. He had done some questionable things prior to last night's mess, but every manager is going to make a few bad decision over the course of a 162 game season. However, last night he was downright retarded; leaving a gassed Cole Hamels in to begin the 8th inning after he had already thrown 110+ pitches was stoo-pid! Vegetarian Prince Fielder took Hamel's meatball deep into the night for his second homerun of the game, leaving the Phils with a 1 run deficit. Good job Charlie, way to use your brain on that one.

Rest of the game- Chase Utley and Pat Burrell went bar hopping against the Brew Crew, giving them 18 combined homeruns. Greg Dobbs also nailed a 2-run blast, but once again the Phils could only score on longballs, guess they're not any good at "small ball". Jayson Werth was worthless in the 9th inning stranding So Taguchi at 3rd with only one out. Werth also may have cost the Phils another run when he was caught stealing at 3rd base after a leadoff double. Ryan Howard continue his torrid pace to being a complete waste going 0-4. Cole Hamels committed an error, that's 742 errors on the season for the Phightins now. That error and Fielder's 1st inning homer put the Phils in an early hole, but rumor has it Cole went back into the clubhouse for a readjustment from his chiropractor. All in all, it was a game the Phils should have won easily, but instead they screwed up and fell back to .500. Chance at redemption this afternoon with a 1:05 matinee pinning Grand Pappy Moyer against equally crafty right-hander Jeff Suppan. Go Phils!

Series Recap: Brewers at Reds

After looking like a Triple A team against the Cardinals, the Brewers headed to Cincinnati to face a team that dominated them only a week earlier. The Brewers had the top of their rotation going into the series which at least gave them a fighting chance.

The Good

The top three pitchers for the rotation were simply great this weekend. Ben Sheets, Jeff Suppan and Yovani Gallardo pitched a total of 18 2/3 innings while only giving up three runs to the Reds. The stats would have been even better had it not been for Ben Sheets leaving after five innings Friday night. He once again had dominant command on all his pitches and was almost untouchable. Gallardo looked great on Sunday and will prove to be extremely important should Ben Sheets miss extended time.
