A Look Back at Coach Frank Thomas

On Jan. 10, 1925, the University of Chattanooga (which later became UT Chattanooga) announced the hire of a new head coach, a relatively obscure Georgia assistant named Frank Thomas - a man who would later go on to become a legend of Alabama football.

Remember when they handed out awards for the 1994 season?

It's one of those strange facts I always seem to forget, then act amazed by when reminded of it again. Back in Oct. 1994, the BBWAA handed out its annual awards as usual — no matter if ballparks had been empty for over two months, the World Series had been canceled or the league's players were striking and alienating fans across the country.Frank Thomas(notes) and Jeff Bagwell(notes) took home MVP honors. Bob Hamelin and Raul Mondesi, both future Hall of Famers, were named the ...

My 90s What If Nightmare Involving Brian Austin Green and Frank Thomas

On a day when there are plenty of relevant, important sports stories to discuss, JRod ignores them all to discuss his two most frightening What If scenarios of the 1990s: Brian Austin Green having the lead role in Saved By The Bell and the White Sox passing on Frank Thomas in the 1989 draft.

Numbers On Steroids: Frank Thomas

Numbers on Steroids is a look at baseball players during the 90s to see if anything screams out at you. Mr. Frank Thomas is up next, all 6 foot 87 inches and 2068 pounds of him. Averages Say: Why the extra plateu in his mid 30s? At Bats Per Home Run Says: Lowest at Bats Per Home Runs at 37? Hmm.... Explaining It Away The man is about 8 men put into one. He's god damn huge. Additionally as an old man he's become much more of a straight power player than an all around hitting beast. I...

After reading Callum's Jose Lima articles and checking out Stephanie McGwire (Mark McGwire's wife) over at Baseball Central, I began to start thinking about how lucky baseball players are that they can slay any woman they want and how I am cold and lonely with my only friends being Jack Daniel and Captain Morgan. Without further adieu, my list of Baseball's hottest wives.

Questionable Move by Big Hurt

Frank Thomas had few takers this past offseason but Oakland was one of them. They threw him in their lineup, kept him happy, and he had a great year. He hit 39 homers and drove in 114, followed by a couple homers in the ALDS upset over Minnesota. And now, he's gone. Thanks for nothing Oakland. Or should I say Fremont?
