Turnbow-ing out of Milwaukee?

Could Derrick Turnbow be on his way out of Milwaukee? According to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, it could be happening soon. The paper speculates that the Brewers are considering all options, which could include a demotion to the minor leagues or an outright release.

Bush vs. Parra: Why the Brewers messed up

Like most Brewers fans, I was stunned Sunday afternoon. First I have to sit at Miller Park and watch our offense not do much of anything and lose a tough game in 10 innings. Then, as my buddies and I were driving home, I heard Breaking News. The Brewers were optioning Dave Bush to Nashville. No, not sending Manny Parra to Triple A or cutting ties with Derrick Turnbow, but sending a quality arm to the Minors. I know many fans are fine with this move as many have given up on Bush's ability as a starter. I, however, think this is a grave mistake by management.

Prince Fielder slaughters baby cow; proceeds to hit two home runs

Okay, I kid because I care. Prince Fielder harmed no livestock on Wednesday evening but he did have his first multi-homer game of the season to give the Brewers a 5-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. Both homers were two-run shots. The first came in the bottom of the first to help get the Brewers out to a 3-0 lead over Cole Hamels. The second came in the bottom of the eighth again off of Hamels which put the Brewers up for good at 5-4.

Series Recap: Brewers at Cardinals

Usually when I do the series recaps I like to break it up into the good, bad, ugly and then give a summary. I'm not going to do that for this series. Even Prince Fielder's first home run of the season isn't enough to mask all the garbage I had to watch the last three days.

The Brewers were riding high coming into the series with the Cards. They had taken two of three in New York and made Johan Santana and Oliver Perez look ordinary. Yet somehow the Crew manages to make Braden Looper, Adam Wainwright and Kyle Lohse look like Cy Young. Meanwhile, Carlos Villanueva and Manny Parra looked like Minor leaguers even though they each had a golden opportunity to cement their spot in the starting rotation.

Get Your Gagne Insurance

We're only into the second week of the season, but fantasy owners who drafted Eric Gagne are starting to worry that their investment is in jeapordy. So what do you to when you want to protect your investment? You buy insurance. In this case, the insurance policy goes by two names - David Riske and Derrick Turnbow, two former closers who are currently pitching in setup roles for the Brewers, but are also waiting in the wings if Gagne reverts to the player who got rocked in almost every outing with Boston last season. He has already blown two saves so far this season, so the grumblings about him heading toward another implosion are not unwarranted. There have been reports from Milwaukee that the velocity on his fastball has been hovering in the high eighties. That is in stark contrast to the player who was once a dominant closer for the Dodgers and humming fastballs by hitters at close to 100 mph. Here is the 2008 statistical look at all three pitchers:

Brooms useless for the Brewers in Chicago

The Brewers were unable to complete a three game sweep of the Cubs on Thursday when they took their first loss of the season, 6-3.

Dave Bush (0-1) was unable to throw the third straight quality start for Brewers' hurlers. Bush gave up six runs and six hits in only 5 1/3 innings. He walked a career high five batters which led to his demise. The bullpen continued to impress as Seth McClung and Derrick Turnbow held the Cubs scoreless for 2 2/3 innings.

Rotation and Pen preview, Hopefully Gange is as good as his pitching than on his french

Hey everyone sorry I didn't do this in the morning I was too busy and i just got done recovering from the greatness of the Gagne's conference in which was awesome so now to the rotation and the bullpen. First let's start with the rotation.
1. Ben " Fragile Tiger" Sheets, Sheets when he was healthy he did awesome with a 12-5 record and a pretty good 3.52 ERA
2. Dave " The Pittsburgh K King" Bush, even though he's an average starter i guess that average is good enough to make the spot of the # 2 starter and you get the glory of me having your jersey!
3. Claudio " The Dominican Bandit" Vargas. The guy who i think should go ahead of Bush but my Bush senses are saying make Bush # 2 and Vargas #3. Another player who had a good win loss record, but had a sub par ERA and a pretty normal to bad WHIP.
4 Yovani " The Great Mexican Amigo" Gallardo. Gallardo who did fantastic in the few starts he had last year after coming out of the Minors with a 9-5 record and a 3.67 record.
5. Jeff " Supalicious'' Suppan. Jeff after coming off a great 06' postseason with the Cards came to the Brewers expecting what he did in 06 but we were wrong!!!
Even though Jeff had a 12-12 record with a 4.62 ERA but he's still a good #5 starter.
You know what there are too many players in this bullpen so it's almost impossible to break all of the players down so here are the top 5 that will make a huge difference.
5.Matty Wise. The one player that probably have been forgotten in all this signings. Matt who is a very good 7th inning pitcher hopefully will hold a spot on the team and make a big impact on the team.
4. David " Risky Business" Riske. Man i love the way this guy played for the Royals. But now he's with the Crew it's a shame that he has to be in the 7th spot if not the setup but now that we got Gagne it looks as if that spot will be on Turnblow's shoulders.
3. Seth McClung. Yes I said it not Torres and not Mora but little known McClung. So you think I'm crazy but his last 10 games he allowed 2 ER's and 5 hits in the 8.2 Innings he pitched.
2 Derrick Turnblow. You can't have a Crew bullpen list without this guy. I really don't like this guy, he blew too many games and he allowed too many players on base but of course they take his 05' season and still think it was for real and not a fluke. Brewers what are you thinking, get rid of this bum
1. Eric "The only French Canadian Closer" Gagne. Remember he's Cy Young style years in L.A well I might be a little crazy but I think he can return to that level and get at least 40 saves. Even though I think that they over payed a bit for him he'll try to return to the style that Fransisco had last year before he started to blow a bunch of games around September.
Guys there you go my pitching part of my 3 part preview. I'll have my next post by tomorrow night.

Gagne going to the Brewers let's just hope he doesn't get injured in April

Hey everyone, it looks like we're about to get another reliever but this time he's actualy really good. Despite the fact that Melvin is willing to spend 10 mill to get Gagne,he says that he's not gonna but him as closer and is just adding him for more depth. In a interview with ESPN tonight at the Marquette/Wisconsin in which the Eagles won 81-76 Melvin said this "He's got a history of closing, and he's a guy that can help our bullpen on the back end," So if we're gonna get him in which it looks like we will then we'll have a solid bullpen with Riske in 7th,Turnbow in 8th, and Gagne in the 9th.
So if he doesn't get injured and does a solid 40 saves in which he can that means we have a great chance of making the playoffs.
