Auburn 74, South Carolina 71

Frankie Sullivan scored 17 points and Rob Chubb added 16 points and 10 rebounds as Auburn beat South Carolina 74-71 on Saturday.

The Tigers (8-7, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) survived 27 lead changes to win their second SEC game of the season. Auburn had started 0-2 in the SEC the past five years.

Auburn took the lead for good after Sullivan's two free throws with 2:41 to go to put the Tigers up 73-71. Chubb missed one of two free throws with 35.2 seconds left, giving South Carolina (10-5, 0-2) one last chance.

Brian Richardson missed a fairly open 3-pointer with 10 seconds left and Bruce Ellington forced up another 3-pointer that didn't have a chance against a double team as the Gamecocks started SEC play 0-2 for a second year in a row.

It was the second straight game in which Ellington couldn't get off a good shot on South Carolina's final possession. He led the Gamecocks with 18 points. Damien Leonard added 17 points and nine rebounds.

The Tigers shot 58.5 percent (24 of 41) but turned

Frankie Sullivan scored 24 points and Allen Payne added 17 as Auburn defeated Florida State 78-72 in the Tigers' nonconference finale Wednesday night.

Auburn (6-7) trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half before outscoring the Seminoles (8-5) 21-10 down the back end of the first half to cut the Florida State lead to 36-35 by halftime.

Sullivan scored 18 of his 24 points in the first half, keeping the Tigers alive as they battled back from the early deficit. Payne scored nine points in the second half for Auburn as the Tigers overtook the lead.

Florida State's Michael Snaer recorded a double-double in the losing effort, scoring 18 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Terry Whisnant added another 16 points for the Seminoles.

Sullivan leads Auburn to 55-51 win over Charleston

Frankie Sullivan scored 20 of his 24 points in the second half to lead Auburn to a 55-51 victory over College of Charleston at the Charleston Classic on Friday night.

Sullivan had to leave Thursday night's loss to Murray State and get stitches after opening a cut on his right arm when he crashed into the scorer's table. He was back and on target for the Tigers (2-1), although sporting a black wrap over the affected area. Sullivan scored Auburn's first 14 points of the second half as the Tigers built an 40-32 lead and held on.

Auburn will face Dayton for fifth place on Sunday while College of Charleston (2-1) will try and avoid losing three straight on its home floor when it takes on Boston College for seventh in the eight-team tournament.

Anthony Stitt had 11 points to lead the Cougars.

The Tigers (14-12, 4-8 Southeastern Conference) snapped a three-game losing streak. The Bulldogs (19-8, 6-6) have lost three in a row, including a pair of two-point overtime losses, and cut an 11-point halftime deficit down to three before getting turned back by Auburn.

Frankie Sullivan scored 22 points and Auburn had a big run out of halftime to run away with a 63-52 win over South Carolina on Saturday, keeping the Gamecocks the only winless team in Southeastern Conference play.

Kenny Gabriel added 16 points - 12 coming after halftime - and seven rebounds for Auburn (12-7, 2-3).

Gabriel scored the first six points of the second half, ending the spree with a dunk in transition that gave Auburn a 32-30 lead with 15:43 to go.

Anthony Gill and Bruce Ellington each had nine points and Damontre Harris blocked a career-high six shots to go along with six points for the Gamecocks (8-10, 0-4), who turned the ball over 23 times in the game.

That kicked off a 29-8 Tigers run over the next 13:57, ending on a Sullivan putback to extend their advantage to 55-38 with 4:33 to play.

Auburn's run blew open a game that had been close for the first half.

Inside the Boxscore: FSU 85, Auburn 56

1. Junior Frankie Sullivan had a game he'd like to forget, against a team he'd like to forget. For the night Sullivan shot 3-16, including 2-9 on 2s (22%) and 1-7 on 3s (14%). This is the fourth game in a row that Auburn's 2nd leading scorer has failed to reach double digits. Since scoring a season high 22 against Long Beach State two days before Christmas, Sullivan has averaged 6.8 a game and has only converted 5-18 (27.8%) 2s and 3-13 (23.1%) 3s.
In last year's FSU game Sullivan only scored 6 points on 2-7 shooting, and then missed the rest of the season following knee surgery.
2. In the first half Auburn made 5-33 shots (15.2%). This allowed FSU to take a 50-16 lead into the break. That's the fewest points Auburn has scored in a half all season, and the fewest since their memorable tilt with LSU last season when they opened the game with a a six-point half. No team has scored 50 in the first half against Auburn in over two years. This game caused their def...
