Michael Irvin wasn't the best football player in the room. He wasn't even the best at his position. But he absolutely stole the show when it came to making people laugh. Recently Yardbarker teamed up with Ronnie Lott and All Stars Helping Kids to throw a Hall of Fame fantasy football draft party. In addition to Irvin and Lott, the event played host to an additional dozen or so past or current stars, including Jerry Rice, Marcus Allen, Warren Moon, Tim Brown, Charles Haley, Brent Jones, Ted Hendricks and Tom Rathman, a former 49ers star who currently coaches Raiders RB Darren McFadden. Hey Yardbarkers, Want to spend a night with 49ers Cheerleaders and NFL Hall of Famers? Join Ronnie Lott and All Stars Helping Kids as they host the All Stars Fantasy Football Draft Party at Bimbo's 365 Club in San Francisco this Friday, July 18. The event begins at 6:30 and all proceeds will benefit All Stars Helping Kids. Several NFL Legends including Marcus Allen, Warren Moon, Michael Irvin, Charles Haley, Tim Brown and Ted Hendricks will be there along with current NFL players Nnamdi Asomugha, Darren McFadden and Thomas Williams among others. The 49ers Gold Rush Cheerleaders will be there to perform throughout the draft. The participating teams are each assigned an NFL legend to serve as team captain and lend their expert advice during the draft. The winning team will receive a trip for four to the 2009 Pro Football Hall of Fame festivities and a $20,000 donation to the charity of their choice. The event is open to the public. Coming to California

Been a couple weeks since I blogged sorry for the delay. We wrap up our workouts this week and then head to California for the Rookie Symposium Sunday. All the coaches are gone so right now we're just lifting. We'll get a small break before training camp starts in late July. I do miss California and I'm looking forward to spending a few weeks at home. I'm also planning to attend a fantasy football event Ronnie Lott is hosting in San Francisco July 18. It's a charity event and they will have a bunch of legends there. Any time you can get in the same room with Ronnie and Marcus Allen and Joe Montana and Michael Irvin and Tim Brown and guys like that you're in a good spot. I'm excited about it. Bob Sanders. Mario Williams. Jim Brown. Warren Moon. Tim Brown. Some guy who used to play for the Patriots and who supposedly was awesome but I'm too young to have ever heard of him (John Hannah). We shot some footage at their pre-game party outside the stadium in Glendale. The video is short, mostly because we were distracted by the food, beer, celebrities, and girls wearing football jerseys. Tim Brown, still on top of his game

I learned two things from our interview with Tim Brown at the Bud Bowl Watering Hole Super Bowl Party. First, the former All-Pro WR doesn't mind when you accidentally introduce him as "Hall of Famer Tim Brown" despite the fact that he won't actually earn this honor for a few more years. I wasn't expecting him to correct us, but it was enjoyable to see him smile and just roll with it. Secondly, I was surprised to hear how candid and forthright he was. He doesn't exactly toe the company line when talking about his beloved Raiders...or does he? Maybe inferring that Oakland lacks discipline is exactly what Al Davis wants the world to think.
