Singletary backs Raye's playcalling

Let's hit some of the key points from the couple hours I spent in 49ersland today:

--First, an observation from yesterday's game. Alex Smith was very successful in the two-minute drill at the end of the first half. He completed 5 of 6 passes for 49 and a touchdown while in the shotgun formation and a three-receiver set. (The first play of the drive, a 27-yard pass to Michael Crabtree, came with him under center.)

But in the second half, the 49ers used the shotgun formati...

Line takes hit with Pashos going on IR

The 49ers will sign tackle Chris Patrick off the Chiefs practice squad, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com. Patrick is primarily a right tackle who can play left tackle. The 49ers have not announced that move.

Adam Snyder will likely move back to right tackle, where he started the first five games of the season before moving to right guard, where he split time Sunday with Chilo Rachal.

Pashos started his first game of the season on Sunday but he was injured after the 49ers' ...

Golden Nuggets: Ready for football... any football

That's right, today all I can think about is football. I've woken up, once again, expecting the 49ers to have a game but of course, we don't. Still, it is Sunday and I want to watch a game. Fortunately there's some really good action today. Surprisingly, I wont be watching the Seahawks play the Cardinals, it is of course, an important game to be sure, but I'm going to be focusing on the Saints playing the Giants, which to me is going to be a great game. But what of the...

Singletary talks O-line, Sheets, Rossum

* * *

Among the issues Singletary addressed in the 3-minute, 15-second segment . . .

--Singletary said he is still looking at making changes on the offensive line. He said there's a "good chance" they'll make changes, but no decision has been made, yet. The team is not satisfied with the play of right guard Chilo Rachal. When asked if Tony Wragge was the candidate to replace Rachal in the starting lineup, Singletary said there are a "couple combinations,&quo...

The San Francisco 49ers LOLffensive LOLine: Lamentations and solutions

I mentioned last week that we'd hold off quarterly reviews until this week since the team has a bye and it's close enough to the quarter point. Things changed rather dramatically with the on-field product, and even for those who view it as just one game, it's still a very tough pill to swallow. Nonetheless we will power through with a first quarter review of the 2009 San Francisco 49ers.
I think it's safe to say the biggest issue at this point for the team is ...

Gooood morning folks, James here with your Nuggets for the day.
Guarded optimism for 49ers' offense

The team had something very close to a complete-team effort in yesterday's 35-0 victory over the Rams. But the offensive line did not perform up to expectations. Coach Mike Singletary said he plans to sit down with offensive line coach Chris Foerster to kick around some ideas for kicking that unit into gear.

It's pretty clear where the problems originated on Sunday in the 49ers' 35-0 victory over the Rams. Singletary said left tackle Joe Staley is continuing to mature. ...
