Bryant Jennings: When I beat Fedosov, I’m onto bigger & better things

Heavyweight contender Bryant Jennings, who boxed five times in 2012, makes his first start of 2013 when he takes on hard-hitting Andrey Fedosov in the scheduled 10-round main event on Friday evening, June 14, at the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.
Jennings, 28, of Philadelphia, PA, broke into the world ratings last year by beating solid fighters and staying busy. He began 2012 as a six-round preliminary fighter and finished ranked No. 3 in the world by the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
His 2012 victims included previously unbeaten lefty Maurice Byarm, of Washington, DC; ex-WBO heavyweight champion Siarhei Liakhovich, of Vitebsk, Belarus; iron-chinned Steve Collins, of Houston, TX; journeyman Chris Koval, of Youngstown, OH; hard-hitting Bowie Tupou, of Tonga. All but the Koval fight were televised over the NBC Sports Network Fight Night series.
A pro since 2009, Jennings is 16-0, 8 K0s, and always is included in any discussion concerning the best young American heavyweights a...

Bryant Jennings, 16-0, 7 KOs, retained his USBA heavyweight championship with a sudden 5th round TKO of Bowie Tupou at 1:37 of round five. Jennings won the fight before his hometown, North Philadelphia crowd.
Tupou landed some heavy blows of his own but fell victim to a vicious right uppercut delivered by Jennings. Tupou crashed to the canvas but managed to climb to his feet. However referee Blair Talmadge stopped the contest as Tupou, 22-3, 16 KOs, got up.

The fight was the nationally televised main event of NBC Sports Network's Fight Night boxing series. The entire broadcast will be replayed on Wednesday, December 12 from 7 pm - 9pm ET.
"He was strong," Jennings said of his opponent. "But when I landed that punch, I really felt like I had him. I thought he might not get up."
In the 10-round semi-final bout, Philadelphia's Eric Hunter, 17-2, 9 KOs, dished Jerry Belmontes, of Corpus Christi, TX, his first professional defeat, with a unanimous points ver...

Bryant Jennings Knocks Out Bowie Tupou On NBC Sports

With his USBA heavyweight title on the line and his grandmother seated ringside, Bryant Jennings said “By-By” to Bowie Tupou with a right uppercut in the 5th round.

Outweighed by more than 25 pounds, the 28-year-old Jennings used his speed advantage and footwork to stop Tupou at 1:37 of the 5th in his first title defense. It was also the fifth fight of the year for Jennings, who moves to 16-0 with 8 knockouts.

In the 3rd round, Tupou (22-3, 16 KO) landed an overhand right that seemed to floor Jennings, but it wasn’t ruled a knockdown. After the bout, Jennings told NBC Sports’ Chris Mannix that he thought it was just the opposite.

“I think he hit the crap out of me,” Jennings said.

The Philadelphia fighter’s win sent the Temple University crowd into frenzy. Of the knockout, Jennings said that’s what he practiced for. Mannix asked him where he would compare himself in the ranks of American heavyweights.

Bryant Jennings to meet Bowie Tupou on Dec 8th NBC Sports Fight Night

Philadelphia's Bryant "By By" Jennings (15-0, 7 KO's) will defend his USBA heavyweight title on NBC Sports Network's Fight Night broadcast, when he meets Bowie Tupou of Nukualofa, Tonga (22-2, 16 KO's) on December 8. The 12 round fight will take place at Temple University McGonigle Hall in Philadelphia. The NBCSN broadcast will begin at 9PM ET.
Kathy Duva, Main Events CEO said, "This is a great stylistic match up. Tupou is a big puncher who prefers to brawl. Jennings is a boxer but loves to mix it up. It's the kind of fight that will likely end up in a slugging match where the best chin wins."
Jennings, currently ranked #5 by the IBF, is coming off a stunning KO 35 seconds into the first round of his fight against Chris Koval on September 8th's Adamek - Walker undercard at Pru Center in Newark, NJ. Jennings previously pounded iron-chinned Steve Collins, of Houston, TX, for 10 rounds to win the vacant USBA heavyweight title on June 16 at ...

Malik Scott vs. Bowie Tupou heavyweight rumble added to Ward-Dawson undercard

Two of the top up-and-coming American-based heavyweights - both from the Goossen Tutor stable - will appear in a non-televised undercard bout of the Andre Ward vs. Chad Dawson fight on Saturday, September 8, at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, Calif. Thirty-one year-old Philadelphian Malik Scott (34-0, 11 KOs) will put his undefeated record on the line against once-beaten Bowie Tupou (26-1, 16 KOs), 30, of Los Angeles, in a bout where the winner stands to move up in the world heavyweight rankings.
"It's very unusual to match fighters, especially heavyweights, with a combined 60 victories and only one loss against one another when it's not for the world championship or televised on a major network," offered Dan Goossen, promoter of both fighters. "Our goal was simple though, have compelling bouts underneath more compelling bouts."
After posting 32 straight wins to start his pro career, Scott sustained a biceps injury. The arduous recovery - alo...
