Carl Froch will knockout Mikkel Kessler in roughly nine days

IBF super middleweight titlist “The Cobra” Carl Froch is set to again battle WBA regular super middleweight champion “The Viking Warrior” Mikkel Kessler on May 25 at the O2 Arena in North Greenwich, London. The 34-year-old Kessler (46-2, 35 KOs) managed to trump the 35-year-old Froch (30-2, 22 KO) by a unanimous decision in their initial April 2010 bout during the Super Six World Boxing Classic. A Nottingham native who is also a former two-time WBC super-middleweight king, Froch most recently fought in the autumn when he knocked American Yusaf Mack onto Queer Street in the third round. Comparatively, Kessler, … Continue reading →

Carl Froch: Luke Campbell has the ingredients of a superstar

The Cobra says Olympic star will be a huge success in the pro ranks
Carl Froch has backed new stable mate Luke Campbell MBE to go onto win major honors in the professional ranks.
Campbell announced that he was turning pro with Matchroom Sport and Eddie Hearn in a huge July show in his hometown of Hull, joining the current World champions Froch and Ricky Burns as well as World title contenders George Groves, Darren Barker, Kell Brook and Tony Bellew in Britain’s best boxing stable.
The 25 year old will be ringside when The Cobra clashes with Mikkel Kessler in their blockbuster rematch at the O2 Arena in London on May 25 live on Sky Sports Box Office in ‘Warriors’ Call’ in association with Betfair, and Froch believes that Campbell, who he saw at close quarters at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield in the build-up to the Olympics, will one day hold a World title himself.

Carl Froch workout photos & quotes, Kessler fight just 1 month away

Carl Froch believes he is in the shape of his life as the countdown to his blockbuster rematch with Mikkel Kessler at the O2 in London live on Sky Sports Box Office on May 25 in ‘Warriors’ Call’ in association with Betfair draws ever closer. There’s less than five weeks until Froch gets the chance to exact revenge on the Dane and tucked behind closed doors in Nottingham, Froch was in a bullish mood following a gruelling 15 round training session with trainer Robert McCracken MBE.

“I am exactly where I want to be with May 25 beginning to come into view,” said Froch. “I am getting that tingle in my hands and down my spine now, I know that feeling well and it means that I’m ready to fight.
“It is such a huge occasion for me but it’s nights like this where I thrive and stand up to be counted. I feel like everything is clicking in training and sparring has been fantastic, I couldn’t ask to be in a better place than I am right now.”

Mikkel Kessler vs. Carl Froch II preview & prediction

Fight Pick & Preview - Kessler vs. Froch Rematch:
It's arguably the biggest fight of the year, and certainly the most eagerly awaited Super Middleweight fight in recent memory: the rematch between Carl "The Cobra Froch" and Mikkel "The Viking Warrior" Kessler. The first installment, as part of the Super Six Tournament, was a close fight that provided plenty of action, and there is no reason to expect the return bout to be any different.
This time the battle will take place in London's O2 Arena, before a strongly pro-Froch crowd on May 25th. Will it be repeat or revenge?
Carl Froch (30-2, 22 KOs)

Kessler, Froch will meet again for title

Mikkel Kessler will fight Carl Froch in a super-middleweight rematch in Britain in a title bout.

No date or venue has been confirmed for a rematch of the 2010 fight that Kessler won on a unanimous points decision in his native Denmark.

The 33-year-old Kessler is the WBA champion and has won 46 of his 48 fights - 35 by knockout. Froch (30-2, 22 KO) holds the IBF belt, which the British fighter took off Lucien Bute in May 2011.

Froch says ''this is the fight that I want more than anything in the world.''

Kessler says Tuesday, ''I don't care where we fight - I said anytime, anywhere.''

Froch retains super middleweight title

Britain's Carl Froch stopped American Yusaf Mack in the third round Saturday night to retain the IBF super middleweight title.

Mack keeled over after being struck with a right-left combination into his ribs from Froch, with the one-sided fight ending with 28 seconds left in the round.

Froch, fighting in his hometown of Nottingham, sent his opponent to the canvas in the first round, too, after connecting with a left hook and then a straight right, leaving Mack breathing heavily in his corner.

''When I am in there on fire like I was tonight, I think I am unbeatable, I really do,'' the 35-year-old Froch said. ''I was a bit cautious early on but then I found my range.''

It was Froch's 30th win in 32 fights and he is set for a rematch next with Canada's Lucien Bute. Froch beat Bute in May to claim the title for the third time. Mack has lost five times in 38 fights.

''I think I am a level above Mack,'' Froch said, ''but anyone can give you a f

Mack strips naked to make weight

Yusaf Mack stripped naked to make weight for his super-middleweight title fight against Carl Froch. Now, the heavy American underdog is planning to strip the champion of his belt.

After coming in just over the limit, Mack removed his underpants to make the 168-pound mark with only a towel held by his trainer shielding the challenger at Friday's weigh-in.

Mack moved down from light-heavyweight to fight Froch, who is a big favorite after beating previously undefeated Lucian Bute in five rounds to become world champion for the third time.

However, Mack says ''I am ready to rumble. I've been the underdog all my life ... He says he is fit, but I am fitter and stronger.''

Fight fans in the English Midlands can delight in cheering on their hero on November 17, as Carl Froch comes home to take on Yusaf Mack. Although some are deriding this as an "easy" fight, if anyone deserves a break from duking it out with top-tier boxers, that man is certainly Carl Froch. The match up might not pack world class drama, but it has some modest potential to go off-script, and should provide Froch's English fans with plenty to go home happy about.Yusaf Mack (31-4-2, 17 KOs)6'1" tall, 75" reach, 32 years oldAmericanFormer US and North American light heavyweight champion A veteran fighter from the Philadelphia school, Mack has good speed, good countering skills, good power, and plenty of determination.
Froch beats Bute for IBF title

Carl Froch stopped Lucian Bute in the fifth round in his hometown on Saturday to claim the IBF super-middleweight title.

The popular Nottingham resident, a two-time former WBC champion, was regarded as the underdog heading into the contest against the unbeaten Bute, who was making his 10th title defense.

The 34-year-old Froch (29-2, 20 KOs), who lost his WBC title to Andre Ward at the Super Six World Boxing Classic in December, admitted before Saturday's contest that he had much to prove after his last defeat.

He was the aggressor early on in his first home bout in three years, striking first in the opening round and finishing the second emphatically with a right-hand, left-hook combination.

Bute, who was born in Romania but became a Canadian citizen in March, landed two counter lefts in the third round but looked wobbly as Froch continued his unrelenting attack.

Both fighters traded jabs in the fourth round before Froch delivered a powerful right and followed with a flurry of punches.

Froch's greatness going unnoticed

Saturday night, Carl Froch (28-2, 20 KO) takes to the ring as possibly the most undervalued and underappreciated fighter in boxing.

He no longer is underrated, as he is widely considered the third-best super middleweight in the world behind his opponent Saturday, Lucian Bute, and top dog Andre Ward, who defeated Froch in the Super Six final.

Yet Froch still does not seem to get full credit for his abilities in the ring and the incredible level of competition he has faced over the last three years.

A simple look at Froch's opposition, results and level of entertainment in his last seven fights demonstrates what "The Cobra" brings each time he steps in the ring. He has faced possibly the toughest level of competition in the sport in the last three-plus years of any active fighter. He is 5-2 over that stretch.

The level of opposition speaks for itself. Jean Pascal is a young, strong, heavy-handed fighter. Jermain Taylor may have been past his best when he met Froch but still was a very gifted b

The super middleweight division continues to deliver the best quality fights in boxing on May 26 when undefeated IBF champion Lucian Bute takes on two-time champion and veteran warrior Carl Froch in the Briton's backyard of Nottingham. These two fighters are ranked by Proboxing-fans.com at #2 and #4 respectively, and if Bute wins he can expect to become the logical challenger to top dog Andre Ward. A win by Froch not only puts the IBF belt around his waist, but sets the stage for lucrative rematches with either Mikkel Kessler or Andre Dirrell.

The Cobra is the division's ironman, the guy who has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is willing to fight anyone who will get in the ring with him. The man's last seven fights read like a Who's Who of the 168-pound and 175-pound weight classes, and in six of those...

Bute vs. Froch Tickets now on sale
Carl Froch is delighted to be back fighting in Nottingham – and believes his IBF World super middleweight title challenge with Lucian Bute on May 26 at the Capital FM Arena Nottingham – with tickets on sale now.
Froch returns to the venue of his last UK fight, which was his Super Six opener against Andre Dirrell in November 2009. The Cobra left Nottingham to travel the globe tackling the cream of the super middleweight crop en route to his Super Six final with Andre Ward in Atlantic City in December.
“It’s great to be back in Nottingham – it’s been too long,” said Froch. “I am so pumped up for the fight and I’ve got to give Lucian Bute credit. I’ve given him stick in the past for not fighting the top opposition, he didn’t enter the Super Six but he beat who was put in front of him.
“He’s not often fought out of his hometown so to put his title on the line in my backyard he’s either very confident or very stupid – I think he’s ver

Froch can salvage British pride vs. Ward

Should Carl Froch fail to emerge from his Super Six showdown with Andre Ward this weekend with his WBC super middleweight title intact, he'll cap a dismal year for British boxing in which a number of our world champions have relinquished their belts.

We started the year with Amir Khan, David Haye, Ricky Burns and Froch himself as legitimate title-holders, but are left only with young Nathan Cleverly, who took the WBO light heavyweight strap in May, and the irrepressible Froch.

Froch, of course, is seen by most to be up against it in Atlantic City. The unbeaten Ward is a prodigious foe, and a comparison of the two fighters' respective performances against common opponent Mikkel Kessler suggests that Froch might be in a bit of trouble. Ward handled the Great Dane easily, opening several cuts around Kessler's eyes en route to an 11th-round technical decision, whereas the Englishman dropped a contentious verdict to Kessler in Denmark. Ward, too, has the amateur pedigree -- an Olympic gold -- while F
