Scheduled Haye vs. Charr undercard fights still on for June 29, now at Bolton Arena

Eddie Hearn has moved the David Haye v Manuel Charr undercard to Bolton after the Hayemaker withdraw from his proposed bout due to a hand injury, with the show now taking place at Bolton Arena on June 29, live on Sky Sports, sponsored by Betfair.
Gavin Rees will return to action after his brave World title challenge against Adrien Broner in Atlantic City in February and he takes on former British champion Anthony Crolla in a crucial clash for both of their careers after ‘Million Dollar’ Crolla’s rematch with Derry Mathews in Liverpool in March ended in a draw with the Commonwealth title on the line.
Lee Selby will also fight on the bill, with Hearn promising a big step up for the British and Commonwealth featherweight champion.
Rocky Fielding will defend his English title against Leicester’s Martin Concepcion and Brian Rose will box for the first time since beating Joachim Alcine for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental light middleweight title in April.

David Haye injured, fight with Manuel Charr postponed

Well, that didn't last long. David Haye's upcoming fight against Manuel Charr has been postponed, due to an injury suffered by Haye in training camp. Apparently Haye injured his left hand during a session on Sunday night, and after reviewing their options, he and his team felt there was no other choice besides postponing the fight, and the event.

Credit: The Sun

Haye was planning to use the Charr fight as a springboard to a title shot at Vitali Klitschko. Klitschko, of course, fought and defeated Charr in his last fight.
The fight was also part of a plan for Haye to return to a higher activity level, fighting at least twice per year. For now, both of these goals are on the backburner. And while Haye was nothing but apologetic and seemingly forthright in his discussions on the fight postponement, one wonders where his true motivations lie, and whether or not he was ever planning to go through with the fight, or hoping something else came along in its place.

David Haye vs. Manuel Charr preview & prediction

The biggest mouth in boxing since the days of the Louisville Lip, David Haye, returns to the ring and formally begins his campaign for another world title when he meets Manuel Charr on June 29th in Manchester. It isn't the world title fight that Haye promised, or even a fight that might move Haye closer to that fight, but one thing is certain: unless he's against a Klitschko, Haye isn't a boring guy to watch.
Manuel Charr (23-1, 13 KOs)
6'3 1/2" tall; approx. 240 lbs; 28 years old
Lebanese-German
Born in Beirut and growing up in Germany, Manuel Charr came over to boxing from martial arts and Muay-Thai, under the tutelage of Ulli Wegner. His main claim to fame is getting stopped in four last year by Vitali Klitschko, and the only name win on his resume is beating up a badly faded Danny Williams. The Diamond Boy showed up in the wake of Haye vs. Chisora to call out the Hayemaker, which possibly explains what he is doing fighting him now.

Gavin Rees vs. Anthony Crolla set for Haye-Charr June 29 card

Gavin Rees will face Anthony Crolla as the chief support on the undercard of David Haye’s clash with Manuel Charr at the Manchester Arena on June 29, live on Sky Sports.
The Welshman returns to action after his brave World title challenge against Adrien Broner in Atlantic City in February and he takes on former British champion Crolla in a crucial clash for both their careers after ‘Million Dollar’ Crolla’s rematch with Derry Mathews in Liverpool in March ended in a draw with the Commonwealth title on the line.
“I cannot wait to get back into action,” said Rees. “I am itching to get another World title shot after fighting Broner. He is a megastar and will go on to do massive things in the game, but I feel that I can win another World title and this is a massive fight to prove I still have ambitions at that level.
“Anthony is a very good fighter and he put up a great performance in his rematch with Derry Mathews, and I think that the draw was the fair result. All-British clashes are ...

David Haye confirms Manuel Charr as opponent, signs with Matchroom long-term

David Haye has signed a long term promotional association with Matchroom Sport, which begins when he faces Manuel Charr at the MEN Arena in Manchester on June 29, live on Sky Sports. This ends a rather long period of speculation on who David Haye's next opponent would be, and it also provides even further insight into his immediate plans for the future.
Matchroom Sport and Hayemaker Promotions will co-promote the shows headlined by the former World Heavyweight champion, beginning with the clash with the 28 year old World title challenger Charr in Manchester.
“I’m delighted to have agreed a four-fight promotional deal with David Haye and Hayemaker,” said Eddie Hearn. “In my opinion David is the most exciting heavyweight on the planet and I'm over the moon to help bring his comeback fight against Charr to Sky Sports on June 29.”

British heavies: David Haye confirms June 29th fight, David Price to get Thompson rematch

The British heavyweights are in the news right now... especially the ones named "David." First, we learned that Mr. David Haye is indeed returning to the ring this June 29, although his expected announcement of an opponent fell flat, as he didn't have one to announce. Second, we learned that Mr. David Price will be fighting shortly thereafter, on July 6, and he'll be heading straight for a rematch against Tony Thompson.
David Haye's return

Haye is getting back into the ring and his plan is one we've heard before: get Vitali Klitschko into the ring. Haye hasn't fought since defeating Dereck Chisora, and is opting to try to stay busy, getting himself into mandatory position for a title shot if necessary. Haye's fight will be held in Manchester.
In this case, it seems that "busy" means fighting about once per year. But I guess it's better than nothing -- as long as the opponent is a worthwhile one. Personally, I'd li...

David Haye to return to ring for June bout

Former WBA champion David Haye is returning to the boxing ring as he plots a route to another world title fight.

The 32-year-old British heavyweight will fight an as-yet-undetermined opponent on June 29 in Manchester, with another bout scheduled before the end of the year.

Haye was last in the ring in July when he beat British rival Dereck Chisora, with his belief at the time that the success would lead to a fight with Vitali Klitschko for the WBC belt.

That did not transpire but Haye is ready to go in search of the mandatory challenger tag by beating an opponent in June.

Haye's trainer, Adam Booth, says talks are ongoing for the June bout with five fighters. The Klitschko brothers, Vitali and Wladimir, are not among the five.

Former WBA heavyweight titlist David “The Hayemaker” Haye is holding a press conference Thursday to announce he will battle an opponent to be determined on June 28 in London, England. The 32-year-old Haye (26-2, 24 KOs), an arrogant and unhinged degenerate who was reinstated to scrap by the WBC in August, should soon be granted his boxing license. A ******* Englishman, Haye returned from “retirement” last July and earned an exciting fifth round TKO triumph over Dereck “Del Boy” Chisora. Prior to battling Chisora (15-4, 9 KOs), Haye hadn’t fought since a pathetically pink showing against Wladimir Klitschko in July … Continue reading →

Haye, Chisora agree that KO loser to help charity

David Haye and Dereck Chisora each promised that the knockout loser of their non-world title fight on Saturday will donate 20,000 pounds ($31,000) to charity.

At a joint news conference on Wednesday, where the bitter British rivals were separated by a metal fence, one of the only two things they agreed on was helping out charities if one or the other is knocked out at Upton Park.

Chisora picked a children's hospital, and Haye chose a bone marrow charity for minorities.

The only other point they found common ground on was being prepared to be blood tested for doping, if asked.

Otherwise, the hype flowed freely between the boxers, who have attracted 29,000 spectators for a fight which has yet to sell out.

Haye puts bottle attack in app game

Boxer David Haye is glorifying his infamous bare-fist punch-up with fellow British heavyweight Dereck Chisora by coming out with an iPhone game in which he attacks his rival with a bottle.

Haye is still wanted by German police for questioning after he lunged at Chisora with a bottle hidden in his glove at a news conference following Chisora's defeat to Vitali Klitschko in February.

His iPhone game, David Haye's Knockout, shows him peeling off a glove to reveal a bottle, which he uses to decapitate his opponent.

The app will intensify the controversy around the former world heavyweight champ's fight with Chisora on July 14 at London's Upton Park, which has been condemned by the World Boxing Council.

"So much fuss was made about the bottle in my hand in Munich that I decided to have some fun with it," Haye said. "People will moan about it, but I have a simple message -- keep your money in your pocket and don't buy it."

WBC aims to scrap Haye-Chisora fight

The World Boxing Council threatened Friday to expel "any person or institution" that is involved in staging the controversial fight between British heavyweights David Haye and Dereck Chisora.

The July 14 fight in London, which was licensed by the Luxembourg Boxing Federation, was scheduled after the pair's infamous brawl at the news conference that followed Chisora's loss to Vitali Klitschko in Germany in February.

Chisora, who also slapped the Ukrainian heavyweight prior to a heroic defeat in the WBC title fight, was stripped of his British license following the controversies. He appealed the decision and will have his case heard in July.

Haye surrendered his British license when he announced his retirement last October in the wake of a humbling defeat to Vladimir Klitschko.

But the fighters' moves to face off in the ring led to wide criticism of both men, along with fury at the Luxembourg federation for sanctioning the bout in the absence of British authorization.

Chisora tweet about Haye cause for concern?

British heavyweight Dereck Chisora tweeted, "On my way to Las Vegas" Saturday, sparking speculation he was trying to track down his countryman David Haye in the aftermath of their ugly brawl in Munich a week earlier.

The brawl came in the news conference following Chisora's loss to WBC world champion Vitali Klitschko, and left him facing a lifetime ban from the sport.

Chisora threatened to "shoot [Haye] in the street" immediately after the brawl and was later arrested and released by German police without charge.

He is scheduled to appear before the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBC) for a hearing on March 14.

Haye fled the fight venue for London, claiming he feared for his life, before boarding a plane last week that was apparently headed for Vegas, The Guardian reported.

"On my way to the airport. Guess where?" Chisora tweeted Saturday afternoon, before adding about an hour later, "On my way to Las Vegas... "

Haye blames Chisora for starting post-fight brawl

David Haye has blamed Dereck Chisora for instigating their brawl at the news conference following Chisora's loss to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko.

Haye says Chisora ''caused a serious disturbance to occur, something which threatened to damage the reputation of the sport we both love.'' Haye adds that he is ''bitterly disappointed'' over his part in the brawl but did not apologize.

Haye is wanted for questioning by German police over the mayhem, but confirmed he left the country Sunday morning.

British boxing's governing body has opened an investigation into Chisora's conduct in connection to Saturday's title bout in Munich. But it cannot take action against Haye because the Londoner retired last year after a defeat to Kiltchko's younger brother, Wladimir.
