An Homage to Jeff Brantley…’The Cowboy’

Whoever decided to add Jeff Brantley to the Reds broadcast team is a genius. The former Red hurler has been one of the best additions to the organization in recent history. Not only is he knowledgeable about pitching, but he is unbelievably entertaining and really lets his Reds passion shine through his bright personality. He’s also a breath of fresh air from the oft-pessimistic Brennaman combination, and from Chris Welsh using the term ‘butcher boy’ at least twice a game. If you haven’t noticed, he is quite unique with his deep southern accent and choice of words. By now, I’m sure you’ve heard all the “Brantley-isms.” But I would like to share my favorites, all of which combine to make him top notch.

- It was only a matter of time before Brantley became a spokesperson for UDF. The guy is obsessed with their ice cream, and was practically a human ad every radio/tv broadcast. He loves their ‘soft-serve’ (and incorporates this term into his baseball terminology as a soft, looping, liner) ic
