Reality show Called “Brawl it Out” Lets You Settle Disagreements By Boxing (Video)

Now a days I sometimes catch myself getting agitated with the fact that there’s a court TV show on every channel. When I was growing up it was simply “Peoples Court.”
Well a new reality show has been spawned that will allow people to settle difference the old fashion way but a little more safer.
Per Off The Bench, a show called “Brawl It Out,” will allow contestants or participants to get in the ring and box to settle whatever disagreement they might have.
The premise of the show deals with two people with a significant issue between them and puts them in the ring to settle whatever issue they have where the winner gets some sort of prize. The winner of the match is determined by three celebrity judges who include heavyweight boxer Shannon Briggs and rapper Jim Jones (BALLLINNNN!).
What kind of disagreements will they allow you to settle?

George Foreman vs. Larry Holmes in 1999: Fantasy -and almost reality- fight

George Foreman and Larry Holmes both signed a contract to finally meet in the ring of the Houston Astrodome, slated for January 1999. Big George ultimately bailed when the promoters failed to pony up enough cash to make Foreman's $10 million purse. The two aged greats went home with the non-refundable deposits, and the idea of a Foreman vs. Holmes clash was never revived. But what if it was? What if the money had been paid, or some other financier stepped into the promotion -- and the fight went ahead for sometime in early 1999.
Backdrop
George Foreman began his historic comeback in March 1987, which culminated with his knockout of Michael Moorer in November 1994 and capture of the WBA-IBF titles. Foreman fought four more times after beating Moorer, against three fringe contenders (Axel Schultz, Lou Savarese, Shannon Briggs) and one journeyman (Crawford Grimsley). His last fight saw him lose a Majority Decision to Briggs.
The second comeback of Larry Holmes came afte...

Fighting again a victory for Jacobs

As you step through the red side door at Starrett City Boxing Club, the smell hits you like a glove full of plaster. The odor of sweat, blood and hot air fill the cavernous, cement-walled room, located underneath a parking garage at a housing complex in Brooklyn.

The folks who call this facility home will tell you that's the scent of hard work, and as you look at some of the fighters this place has produced, many of them world champs, you can't help but think that maybe they're onto something.

The list of boxers who got their start at Starrett City is long and accomplished: Mean Joe Green, Monte Barrett, Shannon Briggs, Travis Simms, Luis Collazo, Curtis Stevens, Sadam Ali, Will Rosinsky, Dimitry Salita, Jaidon Codrington -- all products of Jimmy O'Pharrow's gym.

So is Danny Jacobs, better known here as The Golden Child.

Jacobs grew up in Brownsville, the neighborhood that bred former world champs Mike Tyson and Riddick Bowe, and started working with trainer Victor Roundtree at Starret

5 best heavyweights of the 1990s

Top 5 Heavyweight Boxers from the 1990s
The more time that passes, the more that boxing in the 1990s looks good. It gets a bad rap following one of the greatest decades, as the 80’s was a golden era for the sport. But the 90’s were better in certain areas--particularly in the heavyweight division. In the 80’s it was all about Holmes and Tyson for the most part. While it’s good for the sport to have a long-reigning supreme commander at the top, the 90’s had more parody, with the throne being contested by a group of big-name fighters who made for many memorable fights.

In 1990, he became World Heavyweight Champion, a position he still held until late-1999. After winning the belt against Buster Douglas, he beat two still-dangerous ex-champs in George Foreman and Larry Holmes. He lost the belt to Riddick Bowe in 1992 in his first career loss, but regained it the next year in an inspirational decision win.

Liakhovich to Wach: Ready for the toughest fight of your career?

Liakhovich Challenges Wach, Looking for September Fight Date
Former world champion Sergei "The White Wolf" Liakhovich (25-5, 16 KOs) has challenged undefeated Polish heavyweight contender Mariusz Wach (27-0, 15 KOs).
Wach's promoter, Mariusz Kolodziej (Global Boxing), recently announced that Michael Grant wouldn't be fighting Wach as previously planned, and they are searching for an opponent to fight in September. Liakhovich feels that he is a perfect gatekeeper for Wach, who is rated No. 4 by the World Boxing Council (WBC), to test himself against.

"I took a few months off from boxing and now I'm ready to comeback fresh," Liakhovich explained. "In my last fight (March 24 loss to Bryant Jennings), I made a critical mistake underestimating my opponent. What drives me in this sport is a real challenge. It gives me that fire that all fighters need; the feeling of danger that pushes a fighter to do better. I admit...

Sergei Liakhovich vs. Bryant Jennings preview & prediction

The undercard of the Zab Judah vs. Vernon Paris fight, scheduled for March 24 in Brooklyn, might prove more interesting than the main event, as heavyweights Sergei Liakhovich and Bryant Jennings duke it out. Whereas the main event is seen as something of a tune-up and comeback platform for Judah (who is coming back for the umpteenth time), the outcome of a clash between Liakhovich and Jennings is far from clear, and both big men have a lot riding on the outcome.
This fight has a tinge of fate surrounding it, since it almost happened back in January. Liakhovich was scheduled to fight Philly slickster Eddie Chambers, but the fast man broke his ribs in sparring and had to pull out. Jennings eagerly stepped in as a late sub, but ultimately everyone concerned decided he was too inexperienced. Instead of Liakhovich, Jennings fought fellow prospect Maurice Byram, and scored a convincing win over him. Now it seems that Jennings isn't viewed as so much of a novice anymore, ...

Liakhovich: My experience will be too much for Jennings

At 35 years of age, former WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich, 25-4, 16 KOs, has been around the boxing block a few times. However, the mileage he has logged in the ring figures to be his biggest advantage in his next fight. Liakhovich will take on the younger and perhaps hungrier Bryant Jennings, 27, in a 10-round heavyweight contest on the latest edition of the nationally televised "Fight Night" boxing series on the NBC Sports Network, March 24th from Brooklyn, NY. The broadcast begins at 10PM ET.
"The biggest problem for him will be my experience," said Liakhovich.

And that experience is formidable. He had an all-star amateur career with a 145-15 record and numerous titles, trophies and medals to his credit. As a professional, Sergei has met top heavies like Lamon Brewster, Shannon Briggs, Nikolay Valuev, Dominick Guinn and Maurice Harris.
Boxing’s Heavyweight Division Recycling the Same Old Losers

Wladimir Klitschko can only deal with the opponents that are placed in front of him in the ring. But those who are earning shots at the WBO, IBO, IBF, and WBA Super Heavyweight Champion surely have to be questioned. Klitschko knocked out his latest challenger, Jean-Marc Mormeck of France, in Munich Germany on March 3 in what is a candidate for one of the worst fights of all time. Sadly, a crowd of 50,000 in the stadium had to witness the fourth-round knockout. The 39-year-old Mormeck, who entered the ring with a decent record of 36-4 with 22 KOs, is nothing more than a blown-up former cruiserweight champion who had no idea how to handle the 6-foot-6 giant Ukrainian in front of him. He didn’t come to fight that’s for sure and if he came to just survive a 12-round beating he failed miserably. It was so bad you could count the number of punches the Frenchman landed on the champion on one hand and still have two fingers left over. What Mormeck did do a good job of though, was conning the boxing public out of it

Nevermind that his assault on David Haye at the post-fight press conference for Saturday's Klitschko vs. Chisora bout and his treatment of the Klitschko brothers were classless and ill-advised (by attacking Haye, Chisora played directly into Haye's self-promoting hands). Del Boy already has a criminal record for assault. People in the know already thought of Chisora as a thug; smacking Vitali, spitting at Wladimir, and the fracas at the press conference only enlightened the masses.

That background only makes the results of Klitschko vs. Chisora more surprising. I've been around boxing gyms for decades now, and if there is two things that investment has taught me, it is that boxing is a sport that makes its initiates pay for indiscipline and thug-life ...

Eddie Chambers vs. Sergei Liakhovich Preview & Prediction

Can “Fast” Eddie Chambers box circles around former WBO heavyweight champ Sergei Liakhovich in front of his hometown crowd?
On January 21, 2012, the Asylum Arena in Philadelphia, PA will be the site of the first segment of NBC Sports Network Fight Night which will feature a ten round heavyweight bout between “Fast” Eddie Chambers and former WBO heavyweight champion Sergei Liakhovich in the main event.
This fight features “Fast” Eddie, who uses his elusive boxing skills to jab and counterpunch his way to most of his victories, while the other guy, Sergei “White Wolf” Liakhovich, is a straight-forward boxer puncher who likes to give as good as he takes. However, after an extended break from the sport and a loss in his return, some feel that Liakhovich’s all-action boxing style has left him past his best.
Both of these fighters definitely need a win in this fight to stay relevant near the top of the division, so will elusiveness or aggressiveness win the day on January 21, 2012?
