The Colts have signed former Arizona Cardinals cornerback Greg Toler. Toler was one of the most underrated cornerbacks out there. He struggled with injuries in his time with Arizona, but proved to have a lot of talent when he was on the field. A sound tackler who was just as great against the run as the pass, he would've been exactly what the Patriots needed. He was #5 on my best free-agent cornerbacks list. This is a great signing for the Colts who will have a formidable Toler-Vontae Davis combo in the secondary. Luckily, for the Patriots there are plenty of quality corners available. The Colts have also signed Patriots free agent lineman Donald Thomas. Thomas was a backup in New England but filled in admirably when players like Logan Mankins or Dan Connolly went down. Thomas was the Jets’ first-round pick in the 2002 NFL draft and has been with the team since, playing in 146 regular-season games and 11 playoff games, the second-most postseason appearances for anyone in Jets franchise history. But the Jets apparently decided they needed depth at cornerback more than they needed another veteran linebacker, because they cut Thomas to open up a roster spot for CB Donnie Fletcher, who was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster. Thomas was injured during the preseason, where he torn his ACL. Thomas spent all of last year rehabbing his torn ACL and he seemed really egger and excited to get back out on the field. It’s now safe to say that Thomas return is going to have to wait. He reinjured the same knee that made him miss the Giants memorable Super Bowl last season. Thomas re-injured his knee on Sunday when he was covering Giants wide out Domenik Hixon.
