The Luis Ayala experiment is totally over

Meant to mention this earlier but, oh well, the news is the same. Luis Ayala decided he could do better on his own.

On Saturday, Ayala was outrighted and he opted for free agency.

Ayala appeared in 10 games for the Marlins, and he threw 7 2/3 innings. He struggled, posting an 0-3 record with an 11.74 ERA. He opened the season with the Twins, appearing in 28 games while tossing 32 1/3 innings. With Minnesota, he was 1-2 with a 4.18 ERA.

For whatever reason...

Marlins expand the roster

As you all know by now the Marlins made some moves yesterday and will make the others today.

After the game, the Marlins announced several moves. They've recalled outfielder Cameron Maybin and designated reliever Luis Ayala for assignment. Tuesday, they will recall Rick VandenHurk, who will start Wednesday, and catcher Brett Hayes, and activate Burke Badenhop from the disabled list.

Luis Ayala is far from happy about getting kicked off the 40-man roster.

So JCR is reporting that the Fish have agreed to terms with Luis Ayala, which makes sense since they've been linked to him for quite some time. As we all know, the Marlins have had a plethora of bullpen problems this season, ranging from overuse to misuse to general sucktitude. So is this the move that finally puts things in order? Perhaps the better question is whether it puts anything in order...

The fact that Ayala has been a much discussed name when it co...

The Star-Tribune is reporting that the Pirates are interested in trading for Twins RHP Luis Ayala, who was designated for assignment this week. Ayala, 31, joined Minnesota on a 1-year, $1.3 million deal in the offseason, with the intention of being the eighth-inning setup guy for closer Joe Nathan. In 32.3 innings this year, he had a 4.18 ERA, 1.42 WHIP, 21 K and 8 BB, but complained about being used as a middle reliever and reportedly requested a trade.
