Ricky Hatton Vs. Vyacheslav Senchenko Preview And Prediction: Wealthier, But Healthier And Wiser?

From a pure boxing standpoint, the comeback of Ricky Hatton Saturday on Showtime after suffering a series of brutal knockouts is probably ill-advised.
Freddie Roach: Senchenko’s jab will be the difference against Malignaggi

Five-time Trainer of the Year Freddie Roach predicts the jab of World Boxing Association Welterweight Champion Vyacheslav Senchenko will be the difference in his April 29 world title defense against challenger Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi, airing live on pay per viewfrom Donboss Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine. Undefeated Senchenko (32-0, 21 KOs), rated No. 5 in the world by The Ring Magazine, has been training at Roach's famed Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California.
The 2000 Ukraine Olympian captured the WBA title in 2009, winning a 12-round decision from previously undefeated Yuriy Nuzhnenko, and Vyacheslav has successfully defended his world title belt three times: Motoki Sasaki (DEC12), Charlie Jose Navarro (DEC12) and more recently Marco Antonio Avendano (TKO6) last August in his last fight.
"Senchenko is a very, very good boxer with good technique," Roach recently said from the Wild Card Gym.
"He has good height and a good punch. He had a gre...

Senchenko: Malignaggi is nothing special; he should think about retiring after fighting me

World Boxing Association ("WBA") Welterweight Champion Vyacheslav Senchenko plans to make a major statement in his April 29 world title defense, live on pay per viewfrom Donboss Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine, against former International Boxing Federation ("IBF") junior welterweight titlist Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi.
"I want to give American fight fans what they like by being aggressive and attacking Malignaggi," Senchenko said from the Wild Card Gym. "They won't be disappointed by my style. I hope that, after this fight, American television people will see my boxing skills and offer me big fights.

"I want to showcase my talents in America, which is known as one of the best places in the world to box. Not boxing there would be a disappointment.
Malignaggi: I’ll beat Senchenko in Ukraine, then defend my title in Brooklyn

Former International Boxing Federation ("IBF") Light Welterweight Champion Paulie "Magic Man" Malignaggi will soon embark on his Ukrainian mission, as he challenges undefeated World Boxing Association ("WBA") World Welterweight Champion Vyacheslav Senchenko, live on pay per view April 29 from Donboss Arena in Donetsk, Ukraine.
"I look forward to becoming the WBA World Welterweight Champion," Malignaggi commented. "I'm not worried about fighting over there because the WBA and Golden Boy Promotions have appeased any fears I may have had at first. Golden Boy takes good care of its fighters, so I took the fight."

Malignaggi (30-4, 6 KOs) captured the IBF junior welterweight title in 2007, scoring a 12-round decision over defending champ Lovemore N'dou, successfully defending that belt twice versus Herman Ngoudjo (DEC12) and N'dou (DEC12) in a rematch before relinquishing the title in order to...

Malignaggi gets shot at Senchenko

Thirty-one-year-old former junior welterweight titlist Paulie Malignaggi (30-4, 6 KOs), who signed with Golden Boy Promotions at the end of 2010, is reaping the benefits of being well-connected with a WBA-mandated title shot against welterweight titlist Vyacheslav Senchenko (32-0, 21 KOs).

Malignaggi, who has only fought two fights at the welterweight limit against unranked journeymen (Jose Miguel Cotto and Orlando Lora), has somehow found himself in the WBA's No. 2 slot and will be getting his world title opportunity no later than 90 days after the organization's Jan. 26 deadline for purse bids.

Senchenko, 34, has made three successful defenses of his title against marginal opposition since taking the belt from Yuriy Nuzhnenko in April 2009.

Of the two fighters, the Brooklyn native Malignaggi has the deeper resume, despite a tepid 3-2 mark in world title fights and one-sided recent beatings at the hands of Amir Khan and Ricky Hatton. The biggest career mark on the ledger of the Ukraine's Sench
