Manny Pacquiao – Was smart matchmaking the reason for his success?

Until his KO loss to Juan Manuel Marquez, and to a lesser extent, the controversial loss to Timothy Bradley, Manny Pacquiao had been seen as an unstoppable force during his reign through the weight classes. Everybody who has ever seen Pacquiao fight knows that he is an all-time great fighter and accomplished amazing things throughout his career. That being said, in the aftermath of his knockout loss, it's worth wondering... was Manny Pacquiao that good and did he really improve that much as his career, or was matchmaking a big reason for his success?

Let’s begin at the moment when Pacquiao absolutely destroyed Marco Antonio Barrera. This is when Pacquiao really became known to the fans. He showed his signature speed, power, and relentless style which was too much for Barrera.
Then came Marquez, who would become Pacquiao’s worst nightmare. After getting knocked down 3 times in the first round, Marquez came back and out-boxed Pacquiao for most of the figh...

Danny Garcia Looking For Repeat Victory Versus Erik Morales

Danny Garcia will be putting his WBA and WBC Junior Welterweight titles on the line against former four-time world champion Erik Morales on Oct. 20 at Brooklyn, New York’s brand new Barclay’s Center. This is a rematch of their March 24 bout which Garcia won by a unanimous decision.
Garcia of Philadelphia won the WBC crown that night after the Mexican Morales was stripped of it before the bout for coming in over the weight limit of 140 lbs. Garcia punctuated the victory by decking Morales during the 11th round and won by scores of 117-110, 116-112, and 118-109. Just four months later, Garcia was back in the ring against WBA champion Amir Khan of England, and he took his belt with a fourth-round KO.
Morales stated that he was overweight and slow in the first fight against Garcia since he had surgery on his gall bladder a few weeks before they met and he wasn’t fully recovered from it. However, he better be in tip top shape for the rematch or the result will be the same or even worse for him. The 36-year-o

Manny Pacquiao’s 5 most exciting fights

Fast, aggressive and powerful, Manny Pacquiao is arguably boxing's most exciting fighter. While Floyd Mayweather stands as his main rival, Pretty Boy's slick, defensive style wins converts mostly because it has resulted in an unbroken succession of victories. By contrast, a Pacquiao fight is short on action only when the opponent refuses to fight back. Win or lose, Pacman always tries to deliver excitement to fight fans, and that is the quality that puts butts in the seats around the world. While his resume is stuffed with barnburners, historic moments and hard-punching spectacles, a handful of Pacquiao's fights stand out as the most exciting of his career.
Top 5 Most Exciting Fights of Manny Pacquiao
1. Manny Pacquiao vs. Oscar de la Hoya: Hindsight is always 20-20, so it is not clear why Pacquiao was able to make the Golden Boy quit on his stool. Oscar's interest in boxing had been on the wane for years, and beating the smaller Pacquiao was supposed to be his big...

JANUARY PREDICTIONS

No need for part one and part two for this month. Generally an ease-into it month (the birth month of yours truly and many boxing legends), it is typically slower. It’s not always the case, as Shane Mosley upset Antonio Margarito, as well as the Bell-Mormeck 1 war, that took place in January in recent years. This month, there is not much doing for the first couple of weeks, except for the fun return of ESPN2’s Friday Night Fights series, but towards the end, things really start to pick up.

Paul Williams vs. Nobuhiro Ishida – No easy fights for these guys. Ishida is coming off his shock upset victory over James Kirkland, while Paul Williams is coming off his gift decision over Erislandy Lara. The winner is going to hear dollar signs after this, believe me. They will still be considered vulnerable, but a name scalp for any of the protected starts at 154 and 160. They may even get Sergio Martinez. Ishida who really hasn’t really shown us anything has made a drastic explosion in talent. He simply

Floyd Mayweather Jr interview: Talks Pacquiao, Bob Arum and more!

The world keeps waiting for the final verdict regarding the mega fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. There is enough finger pointing to go around and a combination of egos and agendas have made this fight almost impossible to make. There are of course always two sides to every story, but recently Kevin Davis interviewed Floyd Mayweather Jr. regarding Manny Pacquiao, Bob Arum, his caeer, the boxing media and more.
The five division world champion and current WBC Welterweight Champion opened him about Bob Arum. Bob Arum, president of Top Rank, was Floyd Mayweather's promoter for years before the pound-for-pound king moved on promoting him self with his team of trusted advisers.
"It’s like this, when I started my career with Bob Arum, I was one of the best fighters, he ever seen.",
Floyd said and continued, "Then when I become my own boss, then I become the scum of the earth to Arum, but that's how he feels, everyone is entitled to their own opinion"Speaking of peo
