Ravens' Suggs has Achilles surgery

Baltimore Ravens outside linebacker Terrell Suggs had successful surgery on Tuesday to repair his torn Achilles tendon. "Terrell [Suggs] had a successful surgical procedure done on his Achilles tendon this afternoon by Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, [N.C.]," Ravens general manager Oxzzie Newsome said in a statement. "After some recovery time, 'Sizzle' will begin the process of rehabbing the area. We know he will work hard to get back on the field with his teammates as soon as the doctors and trainers allow. We're confident that he can make a full recovery." It is anticipated that it will take Suggs 4-6 months to recover, and it was speculated that he would miss the entire 2012 season. However, Suggs has said he wants to try to return by mid-season. Suggs started 16 games last season and had 14 sacks.

Terrell Suggs underwent successful surgery on his Achilles

According to Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome, linebacker Terrell Suggs underwent successful surgery on his Achilles tendon on Tuesday.
“Terrell [Suggs] had a successful surgical procedure done on his Achilles tendon this afternoon by Dr. Bob Anderson in Charlotte, [N.C.],” Newsome said. “After some recovery time, ‘Sizzle’ will begin the process of rehabbing the area. We know he will work hard to get back on the field with his teammates as soon as the doctors and trainers allow. We’re confident that he can make a full recovery.”
There wasn’t any indication on whether or not Suggs fully or partially tore his Achilles. If it’s partially torn he has a shot at playing this coming season. But at the end of the day, we don’t have any idea when he’ll be back on the field.

D.J. Augustin expected to miss 4 games

The Bobcats have announced that point guard D.J. Augustin is expected to miss the next four games with a right toe injury.

Augustin saw Charlotte orthopedist Dr. Bob Anderson on Tuesday, and the diagnosis confirmed an inflammatory condition of the sesmoid bones that lie in the flexor tendons on Augustin's right big toe. The injury's been bothering Augustin for months, but he re-aggravated it during Sunday's game at New Jersey.

With Augustin out of the lineup, rookie Kemba Walker will start at point guard and Gerald Henderson will move back to the shooting guard spot. Derrick Brown will get the start at small forward.

Augustin is averaging 13.6 points and 6.6 assists per game for the Bobcats this season.

The Bobcats host the New York Knicks on Tuesday.
