NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Driver Scott Heckert Partners Up With Project Lifesaver International to Drive for Awareness

Scott Heckert developed a deep passion at the young age of 8-years-old when he began racing go-karts at the Norwalk Karting Association where he secured many wins and two championships. This was just the beginning of great things to come for Heckert.
"After continued success I took my talents to full size cars and participated in several Skip Barber National races. In only 4 races I earned 3 top 5 finishes in the national level of competition. Late 2010 marked a change in the course of my racing career as I attended Finish Line Racing School and signed with BJ McLeod Motorsports. Since then I have competed in the top ranks of southern asphalt late model racing. In 2012 I was named Bright House Challenge Rookie of the Year as well as finishing 5th in the points, to add to that I finished 4th and 3rd in my only 2 starts in the CRA Super Series," said Heckert.
After much success at the ripe age of 19-years-old, Heckert, a sophomore at Miami University where he is studying ...

Conor Daly to drive at Indy 500

There will be another American, an Indiana native no less, in this year's Indianapolis 500.

A.J. Foyt Racing announced Tuesday it had hired Conor Daly to drive the No. 41 ABC Supply Honda in the May race as a teammate to Takuma Sato. It will be the IndyCar debut for the 21-year-old, who grew up watching the Indy 500 from the grandstands.

''I almost can't describe what it means to have the opportunity to race in the Indianapolis 500,'' Daly said. ''I have been to the 500 every year of my existence except for last year when I raced in Monaco. It is truly my home race since I was born and raised in the Indianapolis area. I am so thankful that A.J. and Larry (Foyt) have given me my first shot at the greatest race in the world. I know this will sound cheesy, but I've never been happier in my life - this race means so much to me.''

IndyCar: Conor Daly gets test with A.J. Foyt Enterprises

Former IndyCar and Formula One driver Derek Daly’s son Conor will test drive an A.J. Foyt Enterprises Honda at Sebring International Raceway on December 13th.
The 20-year old is coming off of a good season over in Europe in the GP3 series where he won and ran up front in nearly every race. He was on the ladder system to be the next American in Formula One, but doesn’t have a deal for next season yet.
He’s hinted that he would like to run in the IZOD IndyCar Series and would love to race in the Indianapolis 500. He’s no stranger to racing in America either as he’s worked his way up the ladder from Skip Barber to Star Mazda to the Firestone Indy Lights Series, and then to GP3. He has the distinction of winning in every series he’s ever raced in and would be a development driver for someone to grab in the IndyCar circuit.
The test will be the first sign of whether he can get a full-time ride. I’m hearing this is just a test and nothing more.
The team has said they’re getting close to s...

IndyCar's Newgarden showing promise, maturity

(Eds: With AP Photos.) By JOHN ZENOR AP Sports Writer Rookie Josef Newgarden bumped Justin Wilson during his IndyCar debut, then made a point to apologize afterward and assure the veteran he wasn't going to make a habit of driving that way.

The gesture was no rookie move.

''That's reassuring to me that, OK, he made a mistake and understands he made a mistake,'' Wilson said. ''If you're learning like that, he's going to be a race-winning contender. He's learning fast.

''He's definitely got what it takes to win races in this. I don't think it'll be too long before we see him do that.''

Newgarden apparently has the talent to go with those good manners. The 21-year-old Tennessean who dominated Firestone Indy Lights in his lone season has navigated the first two races of his IndyCar career without major incidents and with solid 11th- and 15th-place finishes.

The start has been far from problem-free - Newgarden had to deal with damaged fro

AJ Allmendinger and Walldinger Racing create karting scholarship

As the child of two parents who went to work every day (and sometimes nights, as mom is a nurse...) AJ Allmendinger didn’t come from the kind of background that provided him an unlimited budget to go racing. Fortunately, significant parental sacrifices, Allmendinger’s natural talent and desire, and some well-timed help from racing scholarships helped him race his way to the pinnacle of the sport.

Allmendinger is set to make his debut for Penske Racing this Saturday in the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Dodge in the non-points Budweiser Shootout at the Daytona International Speedway.

Having seen first hand the impact that some outside help can have on a racer’s career, Allmendinger is very pleased to announce a new program that will see a deserving young karter receive a scholarship to race in the 2012 World Karting Association championship starting March 23-25 at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, South Carolina. The scholarship winner will also be set to compete in the Rotax G...
