Seven Round Texans Mock Draft 2.0

Finally, the draft is upon us in a matter of hours. We have looked at tons of mock drafts, some changing all the time while some stay around the same picks in regards to team’s draft needs. In my second mock, I plan to look at the draft from a worst case scenario prospective. No draft ever goes exactly how you expect it to so I plan to do this mock based on who may or may not be available on the board. Keep in mind that these picks are based on current draft position, no trading up or back involved. With that said, here is my second mock draft.

Round 1
PICK NO. 57
Justin Hunter, Tennessee
JUSTIN HUNTER / 6’4 / 196
WIDE RECEIVER / TENNESSEE

With all of the receivers worthy of a first round grade gone and Keenan Allen’s knee issue, the Texans choose to go with a bit of a wild card in Justin Hunter.
Full 7 Round 2013 NFL Mock Draft FINAL

Happy NFL mock draft day!
This 2013 NFL mock draft is a reader submission from an author who wishes to remain anonymous. This is not my 2013 NFL mock draft, but this is a very comprehensive NFL mock draft as it covers all seven rounds. As always we encourage debate, and reader comments are very much welcome. Especially if you have a NFL mock draft of your own and would like to compare it up against this NFL mock draft.
Like I say on my own, detailed first round NFL mock draft. You’re free to say “this sucks because x, y, z,” but if your comment is simply “this sucks.”
Then I have to say “hey, thanks for coming!”
And check out our NFL mock draft of all 7 rounds for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Houston Texans: Which Draft Path Should They Choose?

The idea of the NFL draft is to help the weaker teams by allowing them the earlier selections in the draft with the thinking being that they will obtain the better players so as to "even the playing field". This draft class is a little different from the norm in that it is more of a deep class rather than a top heavy class. This situation is beneficial for the Texans as they are drafting at the latter end of each round, starting at 27 in the first round, 25th in the second and so on. So the teams drafting earlier may not have the advantage usually associated with having first shot at the better players. In addition to the Texans regular draft choices they have been awarded Compensatory picks for players lost or gained in Free Agency and they receive these picks on the basis of a convoluted formula promulgated by the NFL and only known to the NFL, but Mario Williams did produce the 3rd round Compensatory pick with the Texans also being awarded a 6th, but prognosticators had ...

Since my Packers Mock Draft a little while back, I’ve received request for a Bears mock draft as well. So here goes nothing. But I do have one disclaimer. I am not familiar with the long term work of PHIL EMERY, so this one is purely on me with no inside information to draw from. And at the request of more than a few folks whose favorite division is the NFC North, here’s the whole division for you.
(As with my previous PACKERS MOCK the number in parenthesis after the Pick name and vitals is where I currently have the player ranked on my Regardless of Position Prospect list.)

Round 1, Pick 20 ALEC OGLETREE/LB/GEORGIA/6’3/242(22)
The LB position is the biggest rebuild unit on this team now that VFA has been used to finally upgrade the OL. If EMERY can get past the off-field issues OGLETREE could be an instant starter for them, on the outside in my opinion. He’s an excellent athlete and his ex-S skills can be put to best use outside rather than in the M...

Tampa Bay Buccaneers draft picks: 7 round mock

This is a reader submission from an author who wishes to remain anonymous? Who will the Tampa Bay Buccaneers draft this April? Depends on what happens during the NFL free agency period. The creator of this mock likes to add: “I’d like to see them sign Ed Reed being that the Ravens will probably be forced to let him go because of (paying Joe) Flacco. Not only can he still play but he’d be able to help (Mark) Barron at safety a lot more then (Ronde) Barber. Ed Reed probably has another 3 years left in him at least.

BUCS MOCK DRAFT:
1st round: JOHNTHAN BANKS (Mississippi St.)
(Bucs need a shutdown CB.)
2nd round: PHILLIP THOMAS (Fresno St.)
3rd round: ZAC DYSERT (Miami Ohio)
(Freeman needs competition. This is where Pittsburgh found Roethlisberger.)
4th round: BRANDON WILLIAMS (Missouri Southern)
(Had 68 tackles 16.5 TFL 8.5 sacks 5 FF & 1 safety.)
4th round: ROBERT ALFORD (Southeastern Louisiana)
(An underrated shutdown CB. Had 39 tackles 5 TFL 4 INTs & 12 PBU.)
5th round: QU...

This Date in Pirates History: September 14

Today is a popular day in team history for lefty relievers, three of them were born on this date, including one that pitched for the last team in franchise history to have a winning season and another that pitched for the 1960 Pirates team that won the World Series. We also have a player who took part in the first game in franchise history. In his Jolly Roger Rewind, John Fredland takes a look at a high-scoring game from the 1982 season.
Jerry Don Gleaton (1957) Lefty reliever for the 1992 Pirates. He was a first round draft pick in 1979 by the Rangers that went right to the majors for one game, before making his minor league debut. Despite that quick debut, Gleaton didn’t spend a full season in the majors until 1990 with the Tigers. That season he posted a 2.94 ERA in 57 relief appearances. Prior to that, he had appeared in majors during parts of nine seasons, compiling a 10-18 4.72 record in 180 games. His numbers slipped in 1991, down to a 4.06 ERA and he was let go after the season. Pittsburgh signed hi
