Place your bets T…
Check out Tiger Woods’ girlfriend Lindsey Vonn and Tiger at Tiger’s Poker Night presented by the World Poker Tour benefiting The Tiger Woods Foundation. This was an exclusive, 50-person, $10,000 buy-in poker tournament that took place at Moorea Beach Club Beachside Casino at the Mandalay Bay — Tiger was the first to bust out and he lost to an amateur Melinda Fey. He had a big hand .. Jack high flush but Melinda rivered a boat (meaning last card dealt gave her better hand) Also at Tiger’s table was poker star Phil Ivey who’s known in the poker world for his own greatness as the Tiger Woods of poker. An amateur player, Scott Dillon, won the tournament. World Poker Tour filmed the event which will air later this year during its ‘WPT Foundation On Tour’ Charitable segment in an episode of World Poker Tour Season XI on Fox Sports Net.
Phil Ivey Is In A Dispute With A British Casino Over A Cheating Allegation That Resulted In $12 Million In Winnings

.ytn1{position:absolute;clip:rect(456px,auto,auto,445px);}SMALL payday loans VERY CHEAP
(Source) - What’s the best way to win a game of chance? Turn it into a game of certainty.
That, a British casino is charging, is exactly what world-renowned poker player Phil Ivey did in winning £7.6 million — about $11.9 million — in one spectacular run of punto banco, a baccarat game. Crockfords is charging that Ivey observed tiny flaws in the game’s cards, and used that knowledge to give the house a severe thrashing. As a result, the casino is refusing to pay, and Ivey has filed suit to receive his withheld winnings.
Basically speaking, the idea in punto banco is for the player to draw two or three cards with a sum total closer to nine than the dealer. At the game last August played at Crockfords’ casino in Mayfair, London, Ivey and an unidentified woman were playing alone against the dealer, in full view of 10 casino cameras. Ivey started his betting at £50,000 (about $77,000) per hand, and ...

Phil Ivey Won $12 Million Playing Punto Banco And The Casino Refused To Pay Up

World-renowned poker star Phil Ivey spent a few nights at the Mayfair casino Crockfords in London last October, and normally that wouldn’t be news, because he’s a pro poker player and all, but the 37-year old caused quite the buzz when he won about $12 million playing the baccarat game Punto Banco. Now, I don’t understand any card games that aren’t called war or assh*le, so forgive me if I gloss over the rules to this specific game* and get right to the bangers and mash – the casino bosses refused to pay out because they accused Ivey of cheating. Naturally, he’s suing them.So how on Earth do you cheat at a game that involves nothing but pure luck? Easy. You use the exclusive, illegal knowledge that the decks of cards had been improperly cut and you examine each card’s back from a distance to determine the card’s value and wager accordingly. I know, right? How the hell haven’t we all been doing this for years? The casino group said in the court papers that Ivey’s claim is “based upon ...

Report: Ivey denied $11M casino payout

Accomplished gambler and noted professional poker player Phil Ivey was denied a payout of £7.8 million by a London casino last year, and the Daily Mail says that is because he is suspected of exploiting a card manufacturer’s error to read the back of the cards. As we shared with you last year, Ivey won £7.8 million playing a game called Punto Blanco at Crockfords, an upscale, private casino in London. Though he initially lost around $800,000 at the game, Ivey and a female companion went on a hot streak over the rest of his first night and the next two nights. Ivey requested that the casino deposit the money into his bank account. They initially agreed to the payout, but they changed their mind after learning that Ivey’s partner had her membership revoked from another casino. They only returned his $1.6 million bankroll. Investigators were flown in to speak with the casino’s employees and review surveillance tapes. Now the Daily Mail is explaining what the casino believes was going...

SSR Preseason Poll

The season is set to kick off in a couple weeks and with that means the return of our poll here at TSHQ, the Superior System Ranking. Tacky you say? Well of course it is. That’s what happens when you think up a name five minutes before you started the poll a couple years ago. Nonetheless it gets the point across. We’re extremists in this poll. There’s a hell of a lot of disagreements over the course of the season but we vow to be ahead of the curve more times than not. For every one-two teams we’re off on, we’ll be ahead of the nation on three-four. This may be the most criticized blogger poll I’ve seen. Nobody likes us. Nobody agrees with us. So when we’re right it’s more satisfying and when we’re wrong you bash us endlessly. This is K.M’s first word on the polls this year. Whereas I did my full personal top 25 earlier this offseason which can be seen HERE with links to the other two parts of the poll. Due to that, my reasoning for teams won’t be as lengthy as K.M but over the course of

Esfandiari wins $18M WSOP event

Antonio Esfandiari prevailed in a daylong battle against Sam Trickett at the final table and claimed poker's richest prize of $18,346,673 on Tuesday night at The Big One for One Drop.

The $1 million buy-in tournament was the first-of-its-kind World Series of Poker event.

On the 85th and final hand, Esfandiari held on to win with three fives he acquired before the turn and overcame Trickett's flush draw.

Trickett, who had gone all in, nor Esfandiari were able to improve their hands during the turn and the river. Esfandiari finished with 143,975,000 chips.

"It's unbelievable," Esfandiari said. "It's euphoric. I'm so happy right now, and I don't even think it has set in."

Esfandiari and Trickett were the high stack twosome after Day 2 and remained ahead of their six opponents during the early stages of this three-day event at the Rio All Suite Hotel & Casino.

Esfandiari, of Las Vegas, also won a diamond and platinum champion bracelet. Trickett, of Britain, got $10,113,001. Eight players at the final table returned for the final day to split up more than $41,557,339.

Third-place finisher David Einhorn, a hedge fund manager from Rye, N.Y., said he plans to donate his entire prize of $4,352,000 to City Year, an education-focused nonprofit organization.

"It was fun," Einhorn said. "I mean you've got a poker tournament you put together with 48 terrific players. Most of them have lots and lots of experience, and then they invited a few guys like me in and said 'let's have a poker party.' "

Phil Hellmuth, who owns a record 12 WSOP champion bracelets, was eliminated in fourth place with a $2,645,333 prize. Trickett had an ace-high flush draw on hand No. 69 that put him in a position to win over Hellmuth.

Trickett earned his fourth career seven-figure tournament score. The only other players with four or more seven-figure scores are Michael Mizrachi, Phil Ivey and Gus Hansen.

Esfandiari, who was scheduled to be an analyst for ESPN for the three-day event, was the chip leader at the final table on the final day, with 39,925,000 (about 28 percent of the chips).

Trickett was closest to Esfandiari with 37,000,000 chips.

The event, which started with 48 players, will donate more than $5.3 million to international water advocacy charity One Drop.

The high-roller championship is the 55th of 61 events in the 43rd annual World Series of Poker, which started May 28 in Las Vegas.

More than 7,000 players are expected for the $10,000 buy-in no-limit Texas Hold 'em main event beginning July 7. It ends when the final table is reached July 16 and resumes with finals play on Oct. 28.

Unbearably Bad Poker

So I've been watching a little bit of ESPN's WSOP Main Event coverage from time to time this year, moreso here as we wind down towards the November Nine, and I find myself struck by frankly the same thought that I've had in each and every one of the WSOP Main Events I have ever watched over the past decade or so:These people absolutely suck **** at poker.Yeah that's right, I said it. It's true. These people play like absolute ********. And that, I think, is being kind.I mean, this is the biggest tournament of their lives by definition. Each and every one of these guys, once we're down to the final 27 players or so, is for sure playing poker for the most money they have ever played in their lives. There is not just the immediate cash payouts on the line, but the sponsorship opportunities involved with making it to the November Nine final table and with potentially winning the tournament. There is a literal lifetime of playing poker and never having to have a r...

Adventures in Online Poker

Like many of you, I became interest in playing poker by watching the pros like Phil Ivey, Howard Lederer, and Daniel Negreanu during the the explosion of the professional poker and the World Series of Poker on ESPN a few years ago. My friends and I would get together on Friday nights and play for a few hours and a couple bucks, which was always pretty fun for us. A few days ago, I began looking at poker sites on the Internet to continue playing for fun and to improve my poker playing skills. In my search for a free online casino, I stumbled across the Online Casino Spotlight, a gem of a site complete with informative online casino reviews. Online Casino Spotlight ranks Internet casino sites based on factors such as welcome bonuses and payout percentages. I really like that they feature in-depth reviews of each site in their rankings, detailing important features and other details like common languages and cashier options, which is even more important than pure rankings. These are all key factors in my decisio
