NFL Rumors: FirstEnergy Stadium potentially receiving $200 million in upgrades

FirstEnergy Stadium could be receiving a bit of a face lift in the coming months.
We hear Banner and the bigwigs are canvassing the stadium, talking $200 million-plus in upgrades.
— Steve Doerschuk (@sdoerschukREP) June 18, 2013

Per Steve Doerschuk of the Canton Repository, the place once expected to house Bon Jovi for an evening could be looking at upgrades north of $200 million. On the cover, this dollar amount could potentially include the addition of a retractable roof to the current structure, but the cost and likelihood of such an addition has been debated since Haslam purchased the team last October. Prior to Haslam’s acquisition, the Browns front office had asked the city of Cleveland to provide $5.8 million for repairs to areas that had reportedly sustained damage due to use coupled with abrasive lake-front weather.
Following Haslam’s acquisition, the Browns hired Alec Scheiner, a former Dallas Cowboys executive who was credited with much of the planning, financing, and im...

I am continually pushing the boundaries of topics with him and lo and behold he ended up pushing the boundaries for me by giving me an assignment for our next podcast. He has vowed to get Cleveland talking about Trailer Park Boys. So check it out before I talk to him next time.
Also be sure to check out his article on Browns lineman Joe DeLamelleure and his walk for charity.

Last week we saw the reason PRISM was created (Brandon) and the reason the Lulu App was created (Brian), but we didn't see Dez fall in love.

That's what we're here for people. To watch our heroine meet her hero.

No, the producers have stacked the deck with jokers that aren't hanging around the mansion for the 'right reasons'.

But this week, with the help of Mr. Chris Harrison, it's time to suss out the top 10. If you're with rose in tow after tonight, ****? **** is getting real.

And without a clear favorite (sorry Brooks, an IV, breathing tube and smelling salts for a broken finger brings you back to the pack), it's anyone's heart to lose.

	Let's date...

7:01 - The Bachelors are headed to New Jersey. Odds on special guest appearances: Springsteen (1500 to 1), Chris Christie (100 to 1), Bon Jovi (5 to 1), Steve Schirripa (1 to 100 - serving pizza on the boardwalk)

Bon Jovi and the Cleveland Browns Seriously Anger Fans

Cleveland Browns fans were excited to Fan Fest this year; not because the team is expected to actually be competitive for once. No, the excitement really had nothing at all to do with football or the Browns. It was for the Fan Kickoff Concert featuring legendary rock band Bon Jovi.

Go ahead. Squeal like a little school girl now. If I lived in Cleveland I know I would have.

Yes, I used the past tense on purpose. Why? Because after getting fans hopes up and excited for an awesome show the team has now announced that Bon Jovi has cancelled.

qnibert00/Flickr

The Browns referred fans to the band for a reason, but the band did not offer one up. It just stated that the show had been cancelled.

As you could expect, this angered fans and not just a little bit. Many just wanted an explanation; others just voiced their displeasure in a nice way. Others--others were a little expressive with their anger:

"Jon I hope you read this!!! Next time you come on the Radio, BAM, change the channel! Yo

Cleveland Browns Cancel Kickoff Concert Starring Bon Jovi

The Cleveland Browns have cancelled a concert at their stadium by rockers Bon Jovi.
The show had been scheduled for July 14 at FirstEnergy Stadium. The NFL team did not provide any reason Monday for the concert, which was to kick off the Browns' 2013 season, being scrapped.
The Browns said ticket holders should return to their original point of purchase for refunds.
The event was to include a performance by local performers Michael Stanley and the Resonators and a pep rally for fans at the 70,000-seat stadium. Source: Sporting News

Cleveland Twitterverse comes up with the #BonJoviReplacement

When the going gets tough, the Cleveland Twitterverse helps the Browns replace Bon Jovi to help kick off the 2013 NFL season. Will the concert be cancelled for good? Will an alternate act be brought in to help sell it? Don’t say that we aren’t doing our part to help. Oh and it’s probably not possible, but if I had to choose a band that I’d go see and could fill up a stadium, I would pick the Foo Fighters.

Cleveland Browns’ Bon Jovi concert canceled per report

The Bon Jovi concert scheduled to kick off the Browns’ season at FirstEnergy Stadium has been canceled, per Cleveland’s NewsNet5.

The event, billed as a “major announcement” complete with exorbitant fan fare from the team less than one month ago, was also to include a “Fan Fest,” performance by Cleveland native Michael Stanley and the Resonators and a Browns pep rally, all leading up to the Bon Jovi show. Tickets for the show went on sale Monday, June 3 at 10 a.m.
Citing multiple sources, there has not been a reason given for the cancellation, but the team—which is, naturally, not commenting at this time—is anticipated to send out a press release on the matter on Monday.

Photos: Jon Bon Jovi Supporting Notre Dame With Fighting Irish Logo On His Guitar

Most parents who are proud of their child’s collegiate choice buy a bumper sticker for their car to show their newfound loyalty. Jon Bon Jovi got one for his guitar instead. Bon Jovi was spotted last night with a Notre Dame Fighting Irish logo on his six-string during a concert in Manchester. Why?
The frontman’s son, Jesse Bongiovi, is reportedly walking onto the football team this season as a true freshman.
Here are a few shots from the concert – you can see the decal on the lower left portion of his guitar.

Bon Jovi to headline “Fan Kickoff” concert at FirstEnergy Stadium

The Cleveland Browns are reportedly set to announce plans for a “Fans Kickoff Concert” at FirstEnergy Stadium on July 14. The headlining act: Bon Jovi.
Though having been snubbed on nomination bids to enter the neighboring Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and Company will help jump-start what could potentially be an annual event under the ownership of Jimmy Haslam III. Haslam has long placed added emphasis on FirstEnergy Stadium being used for events in addition to the ten football games (eight regular season, two preseason) that are played within its confines each year (FirstEnergy Stadium is set to play host to the US Men’s National Team and Belgium later this week.).
Select Browns players will reportedly be on hand to help make the ”Kickoff” announcement along with CEO Joe Banner, President Alec Scheiner and local singer/songwriter/radio host Michael Stanley. Cleveland Scene reports that Stanley may in fact be the opening act for Bon Jovi.

Jon Bon Jovi's Son Ready to Give Opponents Some Bad Medicine at Notre Dame

This is crazy. How many walk on players make it into the circle of 'news' on the World Wide Web? We are talking about a player that has a slim chance of even making the squad let alone actually getting on the field. There are not that many Rudy-esque type stories out there and there are thousands and thousands of current and former college football players.

Then again, when your Dad is legendary rocker Jon Bon Jovi I suppose anything you do ca be considered 'news' worthy!

“I came up here when I was in eighth grade and I just fell in love with the place,” Jesse Bongiovi said. “The culture here, the people here, the opportunities here, they’re unreal. They’re second to none. Given the opportunity to walk on to the team and become a part of this family was an easy decision for me.”
As a former crash test dummy--I mean scout team member--myself I appreciate the desire to keep playing even if it is all on the practice field so best of luck to you Jesse.

Jesse Bongiovi, the son of rock star Jon Bon Jovi, is planning to walk on to Notre Dame’s football team, Irish Sports Daily reports. Bongiovi is a senior at Poly Prep Country Day in Brooklyn where he has played football and lacrosse. His father, a New Jersey native and singer of hit songs like “Blaze of Glory”, has been a fan of the Irish and was close with former Notre Dame football coach Charlie Weis. He remained a fan of the football team even after Weis was fired.
