Cool Movie Villains

In cinema, we usually celebrate when the hero triumphs and shacks with the girl. Sometimes, however, movies are made by the vile bad guys who are the antagonists. Below is a list of some awesome villains who make us realize that “evil will always conquer because good is dumb (Spaceballs, 1987).”
Curly Bill Brocius and Ike Clanton, Tombstone
From the opening scene of the movie, Curly Bill, Ike, and the rest of the Cowboys gang are raising hell throughout the southwest. Although Kurt Russell and his baby blues eventually clean out the crew, you have to appreciate the whiskey drunk outlaws picking fights with whoever wants a piece. In perhaps the greatest supporting actor role of all-time, Val Kilmer plays the TB-infested, liquor chugging Doc Holliday, who doesn’t let something as pesky as a bender get in the way of killing bad guys.
The Joker, The Dark Knight
Heath Ledger helped us forgive him for his role in ‘Brokeback Mountain’ when he absolutely killed it as a deranged Joker against Christian Bale

Gators' Joker Phillips has unique recruiting approach

College football coaches know where the recruits are these days on social media.
The NCAA doesnt allow a coach to mention a recruit by name, it hasnt prevented head coaches and assistants from being creative on Twitter. Often, they will tweet out an area code or county that they are visiting. Or a few words of inspiration.
New University of Florida wide receivers coachrecruiting coordinator Joker Phillips has taken the creativity to a new level, and hes amassed more than 30,000 Twitter followers, @JokerPhillips.
His tweet from Monday morning shows an astronaut on the moon next to a Gator flag as spaceships of other SEC schools fly around in the distance. Gators are leaders, not followers comeplaywrforthejokerGators are leaders, not followers. comeplaywrforthejoker twitter.comjokerphillips Joker Phillips (@jokerphillips) May 6, 2013And his March 27 Tweet, was a classic: ITS TIME TO COME PLAY WR FOR THE JOKER! and included a Photoshop of Heath Ledger as the joker from The Dark Knight in a Gator blue suit.IT&#3

Okay, what is Joker Phillips doing now?

The Florida Gators football coaches have been taking an odd approach to using Twitter as an avenue to recruit high school talent to their program. Wide receiver coach Joker Phillips got us started awhile back by busting out a photoshopped picture of the late Heath Ledger’s Joker from ‘the Dark Knight.’ He later did something similar with Jack Nicholson’s version from Tim Burton’s ‘Batman.’ We also saw coach Brent Pease use Harry Potter, which seemed a bit more odd of a choice. But it is just getting downright crazy at this point with Joker’s latest tweet and the Kentucky Derby: I am at a loss of words? Are they recruiting horses? Is Will Muschamp going to make an appearance at the Kentucky Derby t his weekend? I JUST DON’T GET IT! STOP WITH THESE!!!

Brent Pease joins Florida's Instagram fun

(Photo Courtesy: Brent Pease's Instagram Account) So last week, Crystal Ball Run shared an interesting story, about the always interesting Joker Phillips and his liberal use of the photo editing and enhancing service Instagram. In it, we described how the ex-Kentucky head man turned Florida wide receivers coach has a growing reputation as the most creative, and times, weirdest college football coach on the entire service. In particular, Phillips seems to have a sick fetish for playing up his “Joker” moniker, by editing a number of pictures to somehow feature Heath Ledger from “The Dark Knight Rises” (playing the Joker, of course) making weird recruiting pitches on behalf of the University of Florida. Only in the SEC, huh? Well, not to be outdone, apparently Florida offensive coordinator Brent Pease is having some Insta-fun as well, and using his own movie monikers to drive up interest in playing for his offense at Florida. Above is a picture that Pease posted on hi...

A Tradition Unlike Any Other

A real man would have a hard-on.

We're not going to waste too much time talking about a golf event where a career loser who looks like Heath Ledger if he forgot to kill himself defeated a guy that owns a burro and doesn't speak a lick of English. I'm not even going to get into the controversy surrounding Tiger this weekend. Haters think he should have been kicked out. Fan boys think he was screwed. I just summed it up perfectly. I do want to discuss the aftermath of the tournament and, well, let's just get to the action after the cameras stopped rolling...

Jim Nantz: Hello friends, we have finished whatever it is that we do inside Butler Cabin and are back on the 18th green ready to present the green jacket to our Masters Champion. What a tournament! Without further ado, your 2013 champion--

The NFC (L)East has been weighed, measured, and found wanting line help on both sides of the ball.In random other news, I will always remember the late Heath Ledger more for A Knight's Tale than for The Dark Knight. It might have something to do with the fact that he doesn't look like himself in The Dark Knight. So now that we have judged the judge, two defenseless GMs, and one non-entity, it's time to judge a complete division, one that drafted five players by way of Harvin trade.A quick reminder of the rules of the joust and/or criminal activity:Every knight represents a team that has a first round pick, and selects as if they were the GM for that particular team.No trades or social experiments- while crazy is good, there is such a thing as TOO crazy, and we want our draft at least close to accurate. Trades introduce variables we can't accurately project.Every knight created a pre-draft strategy article so the fans can get a sense of why they picked the way they di...

Joker Phillips’ creepy tweet made creepier by Heath Ledger/Joker photoshop (pic)

Joker Phillips, who was fired by the Kentucky Wildcats on Nov. 4 but caught on as the wide receivers coach for the Florida Gators, sent out a tweet on Wednesday that is about as odd a thing that one likely will ever see tweeted by a football coach. Phillips, making the connection that he shares a nickname with the most heinous and mischievous of all Batman villains, made a creepy tweet that read in part that “IT’S TIME TO COME PLAY WR FOR THE JOKER!” just that much creepier by attaching a disturbing image from the late Heath Ledger’s haunting and distrubing tour-de-force performance as the Joker in “Dark Knight” that has been photoshopped to include Florida’s colors and logo. Creepy, indeed.
The Batman Chronicles is a fan-made web series being developed by a group of Dark Knight fanatics. Sounds cool, right?
But how is the project going to be different than all the other Caped Crusader fan films out there?
Well, These guys know what they’re doing, but they’ll need your help. The group has put together an Indie GoGo page to help fund the project.
I sat down with writer Mike Lupia a few weeks ago to discuss the Batman Chronicles and the inspiration behind it.
(Note: Both Mike and I go to Boston University College of Communication, but we had never met prior to this interview.)
N: Tell me some more about the project.
M: The team behind it is me, my friend Dan Petruccio, who is also starring in it as Batman, and Joe Petruccio, his brother who is directing it. He majored in Film at the School of Visual Arts.
Over the summer, they decided they were going to go ahead and make a fan film. Dan is young, in his early twenties, so we knew we couldn’t do an older Bruce Wayne. I...

Monday Medicine: Alabama Crimson Tide

We should probably just give the entire SEC a dose of Monday Medicine since it's going to take a miracle for their BCS Championship streak to continue, but we'll burn that bridge after Kansas State, Oregon and Notre Dame all finish the season. For now here's a Heath Ledger sized prescription for Alabama fans who just saw their chances for a second straight national title go up in smoke, in Tuscaloosa, to a team playing its first SEC season behind a freshman QB. If you felt a weird rumble Saturday afternoon it might've just been Goliath falling...but it might've been the SEC West balance of power shifting toward College Station, TX for the next three seasons. Stay tuned.

Heath Ledger’s Joker and the 4 Other Most Memorable Parts of The Dark Knight

The midnight premiere of The Dark Rises is tonight, which means Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy comes to an end.
He has changed the way superhero movies are presented, and this will continue next year when Man of Steel (Superman) premieres.
In honor of the premiere I have decided to make a list of the five most memorable aspects from the second film in Nolan’s trilogy, The Dark Knight.

It was one of the top films of 2008 and will always be remembered as one Heath Ledger’s last and best performances.
The film was filled with complex characters and themes, which makes it much more than an average superhero movie.
5. Character Development of Harvey Dent
Aaron Eckhart had the task of portraying a classic character from the Batman universe and did it to perfection.
Harvey Dent, later “Two-Face,” starts out as a man who is trying to rid Gotham City of crime and corruption essentially on his own. As DA, he attempts to arrest the majority of the mobsters in Gotham while putting his lif...

The Dark Knight – Ten Minutes of Just The Joker

The best part of The Dark Knight was definitely the Joker, and as an homage to Heath, The Cussing Channel threw together a wonderful piece of just the Joker.
Our tribute to one of our favorite movies, and one of the best performances ever put to film: Heath Ledger as The Joker in The Dark Knight. Ledger is already the best thing about the movie, so we stripped away everything else to give you just the Joker’s lines for more than 10 straight minutes. (4:37 might be in the running for the best part of this supercut, but there are many great sequences).
Rules: Just The Joker, just the on-camera dialogue.
