LucidSportsFan’s Awesome Old Song of the Week

In 1994 the German pop band Real McCoy released an album called Another Night. It’s first single had the same title, and was the song that made them huge in the U.S. But their follow up hit “Run Away” was just as big, and way cooler in my book.
I never really paid too much attention to the lyrics, but I do remember the “big brother is watching you” line. As it turns out, the whole song in based on George Orwell’s 1984. ”Run Away” peaked at #3 on the Billboard Top 40 in 1995; oddly enough so did Janet Jackson’s “Runaway.”

WATCH: Super Bowl halftime controversy again? Beyonce has nipple slip

Jason Whitney Beyonce lit up the halftime show, but appeared to have a nipple poke out during her performance
After Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson’s infamous wardrobe malfunction, the last thing CBS wanted to have was another “nipple” controversy. Well this may not be a controversy, but the nipple slippage did rear its ugly head once again. This appears to be purely incidental as Beyonce is known to have some herky jerky dance moves.
CBS at this point is probably expecting a call from the FCC regarding yet another case of a naked areola being on display in front of millions of viewers. CBS was fined $550,000 from the “wardrobe malfunction” in 2004 but that was looked at as being scripted between Timberlake and Jackson. MTV since has been banned from ever doing a NFL halftime show again.
Beyonce looked stunning during the halftime performance and I’m sure she won’t get any complaints from the males who watched her light up the stage. However, the fact that we’re living in a litigiou

Super Bowls ads selling for more than $4 million

Super Bowl ads have sold for more than $4 million for some 30-second spots for this year's game.

All the commercials for the NFL championship Feb. 3 in New Orleans are sold out, CBS Corp. CEO Leslie Moonves said Tuesday.

Companies paid an average of $3.5 million for a 30-second spot last year. TV's biggest event averaged more than 111 million viewers in 2012.

For CBS, the entire company is taking part in promoting the Super Bowl. The network's telecasts will be headquartered in New Orleans' Jackson Square. The sets will be used by 15 different shows from nine CBS divisions, from the main network to cable channels to online to radio.

''We've never done anything like this before,'' CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said.

That list includes the daytime show ''The Talk,'' which will broadcast from the city the week leading up to the game to try to take advantage of the Super Bowl's large female viewership.

The Jackson Square shoots will give CBS plenty

Beyoncé is your Super Bowl XLVII halftime show entertainment

Not since the halcyon days of Justin Timberlake ripping off Janet Jackson’s clothes during the Super Bowl XXXVIII has a big name performer been this youthful.	Beyoncé will headline the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show on February 3 in New Orleans, according to B’s website on Tuesday.	The 31-year-old crooner/dancer/actress will perform at the Superdome, making her one of the youngest Super Bowl halftime headliners in years.	I have two minor requests:	1. It’s pretty obvious that Hova will make a cameo appearance. If so, B, ‘Ye and Jay need to do a collaboration on this: I know.	Goodell will never go for this song for obvious reasons….but too bad.	ROGER, YOU OWE US!!! YOU OWE NEW ORLEANS!!!!!!	Fine. Be like that, Rog. I’ll take this instead. 2. If Ali Larter and B could re-enact all of their scenes from Obsessed, that would be fantastic. In a potential sign of things to come, Beyoncé’s middle name is Giselle.	Ok, it is not spelled like that Gisele, but you get the point. Be sure t

Court won't hear FCC appeal vs. CBS

The Supreme Court decided Friday not to consider reinstating the government's $550,000 fine on CBS for Janet Jackson's infamous breast-bearing ''wardrobe malfunction'' at the 2004 Super Bowl.

The high court refused to hear an appeal from the Federal Communications Commission over the penalty.

The 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals twice had thrown out the fine. The second time came after the Supreme Court upheld the FCC's policy threatening fines against even one-time uses of curse words on live television.

The appeals court said FCC's policy of excusing fleeting instances of indecent words and images appeared to change without notice in March 2004, a month after Jackson's halftime act. The judges said that made the agency's action against CBS ''arbitrary and capricious.''

But now, the FCC clearly has abandoned its exception for fleeting expletives, Chief Justice John Roberts said.

''It is now clear that the brevity of an indecent broadcast -

M.I.A. flips bird at Super Bowl halftime

For all the pomp and excess of Madonna's Super Bowl halftime extravaganza a single extended middle finger by guest singer M.I.A. is likely to be the most remembered piece of the show.

The gesture, accompanied by a barely disguised expletive, came during a performance of Madonna's new single, ''Give Me All Your Luvin.''' At the end of her lines, M.I.A. appeared to sing ''I don't give a (expletive),'' although it was hard to hear clearly.

The incident was reminiscent of Janet Jackson's infamous ''wardrobe malfunction'' eight years ago -- a surprise risque moment in front of tens of millions of unsuspecting viewers. The brief exposure of Jackson's nipple during the 2004 halftime show raised a storm of controversy and put CBS in hot water with the Federal Communications Commission.

The Super Bowl, shown on NBC this year, is routinely viewed by more than 100 million people, the biggest TV event of the year.

M.I.A.’s Middle Finger Super Bowl Halftime Show

Eat your tit out Janet Jackson. If you were worried that the elderly Madonna was going to do something risque, you can relax, but that doesn’t mean that young whippersnapper M.I.A. wouldn’t do something outlandish during the Super Bowl halftime show. During Madonna’s performance of “Give Me All Your Luvin,’” her Sri Lankan singer M.I.A. flipped the bird which was caught by NBC cameras. We’re inching closer to a prerecorded performance because of the oversensitive, PC media.

MIA flips the bird during halftime show of Super Bowl (Picture)

We already saw a massive fine and change to all broadcasting after Janet Jackson’s “wardrobe malfunction” during the Super Bowl. I wonder what the FCC is going to do about MIA flipping the bird to the world during the halftime show of Super Bowl XLVI? No doubt this has been planned by MIA for a long time. You don’t just say “I don’t give a s***” and flip everyone the middle finger without knowing that you’re going to get a huge reaction. That’s exactly what she was looking for — plenty of publicity. She’ll get it, but she’ll also be known as the person who flipped the bird during the Super Bowl halftime show from now on.
Here is a video of the incident:

Based on a few tweets, it seems like a few NBC affiliates were able to dump the incident, but plenty of people still saw it.

Court affirms "wardrobe malfunction"

Janet Jacksons nipple just cant seem to stay out of court.

A federal appeals court on Wednesday again threw out a 550,000 fine against CBS by the Federal Communications Commission for Janet Jacksons famed wardrobe malfunction during the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show.

The United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit in Philadelphia had issued a similar ruling in July 2008. But that decision was sent back to the appeals court in May 2009 by the Supreme Court after it ruled in a separate case that the F.C.C. had the right to hold broadcasters accountable even for unscripted and isolated foul language.

The appeals court heard a second round of arguments in the Janet Jackson case in February 2010. On Wednesday, it ruled that while the F.C.C. had the ability to police fleeting images the nipple-baring episode was onscreen for nine-sixteenths of one second the commission acted arbitrarily because it failed to announce that it had changed its policy until after it decided to punish CBS.
