Mayer just dropped a new single this week entitled “Paper Doll”, which some people are speculating is about his short-lived romance with Taylor Swift. Swift included a not-so-flattering song about Mayer on her Speak Now album entitled “Dear John“, and Mayer’s latest single could possibly be a response to that. Lyrics to paper doll include “You’re like 22 girls in one, and none of them know what they’re running from. Was it just too far to fall, for a little paper doll?” Swift’s current smash hit single is 22. Erasing my whole “pop-punk” phase (Taking Back Sunday would probably be the only thing on my list), this assignment was pretty easy. His debut album Channel Orange was one of the best of the year. One of the standouts on the album was the ten minute masterpiece “Pyramids.” The first part of the song has a “EDM” feel to it and that seamlessly transitions to the John Mayer assisted conclusion. It might just be Spin.com) is out with my favorite list of the year. The editors have matched up 40 NBA players with their pop music alter-egos. Among the selections-Carmelo Anthony as John Mayer, because both are capable of working well with others (Melo with Jeremy Lin, Mayer with Frank Ocean) but are better on their own. They also have tattoos and date actresses. It’s not the most obvious connection, but I’ll take it. This will be the second year that Coldplay and Jay-Z have celebrated the New Year together, celebrating back in 2010 in Las Vegas. Jay-Z brought out Kanye West, Beyonce and John Mayer, and with no guest appearances guaranteed this year, you will definitely see some super stars at this show. Coldplay is playing three shows in the U.S. to finish off 2012. December 29th at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT, December 30th and the New Years Eve bash with Jay-Z on the 31st, at Barclays Center.  Mohegan Sun tickets will go on sale on Friday, November 16th, 10 a.m. EST.
