Our Top 10 Favorite Songs of All-Time, Pt. IV

Every day since we decided to post our top 10 favorite songs of ALL TIME, I have kept a piece of paper with me and throughout the day I would write down a song that came to mind. Erasing my whole “pop-punk” phase (Taking Back Sunday would probably be the only thing on my list), this assignment was pretty easy. Yes, you are probably amazed that my list isn’t a combination of Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and a dash of Beyonce, but honestly those artists would have their own top 10 lists. I absolutely hate the question of “What is your favorite song?” That is impossible to answer, so…no rankings. Here you go!
The Beatles – “If I fell”

Growing up with my uncles old videos of the Beatles performing on TV shows and tours, this is my ultimate love song as a child. Lennon and McCartney’s harmonies are beautiful and the lyrics are so simple. No matter who covers this song, I always find myself going back to the original. Yes, picking only one Beatles’ song was a challenge, but this on...

Our Top 10 Favorite Songs Of All-Time, Pt. I

Last week, we were lounging around like the cool guys that we are and we came to discussing our favorite songs of all-time. Our personal favorites, not the same generic Top 10 lists you see in every music magazine ever. We decided to turn it into a series of posts this week in which each music contributor to the site has a day to highlight their favorite tracks of all time. I’m up first, let’s do this.
10. “Mr. Jones” – Counting Crows
Growing up as a ’90s baby, this song was a huge hit during my childhood. I still get pretty pumped anytime I hear it.

9. “Free Fallin’” – Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
Just an all-time classic, arguably some of the most recognizable chords in all of music. I’m a pretty big fan of the John Mayer version as well.

8. “Let Her Cry” – Hootie & The Blowfish
Hootie was one of my favorite bands growing up as a kid, and this is far and away them at their best.

7. “Born In The USA” – Bruce Springsteen
‘Murica.

6. “Eminence Front” – The

No word on why John Mayer was dressed as Willy Wonka, however.

Favorite Songs 2012 Pt. III

Here is the third installment of our favorite songs from 2012. If you haven’t done so already, check out the first and second posts.

Tyler:

Frank Ocean – “Pyramids”
It was a big year for Frank Ocean. His debut album Channel Orange was one of the best of the year. One of the standouts on the album was the ten minute masterpiece “Pyramids.” The first part of the song has a “EDM” feel to it and that seamlessly transitions to the John Mayer assisted conclusion. Frank Ocean truly has change the landscape of R&B music.

Jim:

Japandroids – “The House That Heaven Built”
More often than not I look for songs that will last the test of time. Many of those songs have rallying cries or tap into an emotion to achieve that timeless feel. Japandroids do a great job of that here, playing straight forward ‘go to hell if you aren’t with us’ rock.

Melo’s Body Is A Wonderland and Other Observations

Spin Magazine (Actually, I’m not even sure if it’s an actual magazine anymore. It might just be Spin.com) is out with my favorite list of the year. The editors have matched up 40 NBA players with their pop music alter-egos.
Among the selections-Carmelo Anthony as John Mayer, because both are capable of working well with others (Melo with Jeremy Lin, Mayer with Frank Ocean) but are better on their own. They also have tattoos and date actresses. It’s not the most obvious connection, but I’ll take it. I also like Tim Duncan as Wilco because, while they’re both still really good, they obviously peaked in 2002.

John Mayer's Journey on "Queen of California"

John Mayer just released the music video for Queen of California, a standout track from his latest release, "Born and Raised." Though Mayer usually keeps you on your toes with his sometimes off-putting comments, he was equally intriguing in this video as the camera follows him as he wanders through different settings from his city apartment to the studio. Rather than sticking himself front and center gazing at the camera, Mayer relies on his music and creative focus to take viewers along on the journey he has been on. Snow falling in the woods turns to rose pedals dropping in a bedroom which renew into confetti blanketing a city street. As he walks through the parade of life, Mayer shows that even through changing circumstances, he can look around and embrace the moment in whatever way it's presented to him. Check out Queen of California below:

Frank Ocean releases new song, information about upcoming album

Yesterday on his Tumblr, Odd Future’s Frank Ocean released information about his first studio album, Channel Orange, as well as a new song, “Pyramids.” It’s nine minutes long, features a guitar solo from John Mayer, has“The Simpsons”-inspired artwork, and can be heard above. It’s pretty damn good.
As for Channel Orange, the album is due to be released on July 17th – the same week as the “Breaking Bad” season 5 premiere and The Dark Knight Rises. Talk about an entertainment trifecta.

Lost Media's Acoustic Sunrise playlist is up for your enjoyment

Continuing our effort to bring you guys the best music from every genre we're adding in some great acoustic performances in our Acoustic Sunrise playlist. In this playlist you'll hear music from Jason Mraz, John Mayer, Dave Matthews and others all acoustically. To be honest it's the only way to listen to music on a Saturday or Sunday morning. The only better way to wake up is with a beautiful blonde playing the flute while cooking you breakfast, but that only happens in cartoons.Posted by Atkins under Music

John Mayer & His Douchey Palestinian Scarf At Coed Media Group Christmas Party

Thanks to all 2-3 of you guys who wondered what the hell happened to us over the last 36 hours. Just happened that we were in NYC for the Coed Media Group (BC parent company) Christmas party in the West Village. There’s Mrs. Busted & John Mayer over her shoulder at Empellon. Of course the CMG ladies weren’t digging Mayer’s caveman appearance and his man-whoring ways. As for the Mrs., she made it known that a loser home-bound blogger still impresses the **** out of her.
