Genius move by the promoters to lock in Nirvana before their album dropped. Too bad Hollywood didn’t have that foresight about Battleship because it never would have been made. Needless to say, Nirvana guaranteed the success of the festival and it has since expanded to a five city event with hundreds of thousands of attendees each year. In the festival’s eighth year a little band called Blink-182 took their talents to the main stage at the height of Enema of the State fever.  Tom DeLong (25 years-old at the time) and Mark Hoppus (28) spend about 1/3 of the time going back and forth with comical banter and 2/3 of the time whipping the crowd into a frenzy, while Travis Barker spends 110% of the time kicking serious ass on the drums.
