Bode Miller's snowboarding brother dies

Snowboarder Chelone Miller, the younger brother of Olympic gold medalist Bode Miller, died Sunday in the area of Mammoth Lakes, Calif. He was 29.

The Mono County Sheriff's Office confirmed his death Monday in a statement. The cause of death is being investigated, but authorities say foul play is not suspected.

Chelone Miller, of Easton, N.H., was hoping to make the U.S. squad in snowboardcross for the 2014 Sochi Games. Nicknamed Chilly, Miller recently finished fourth at the 2013 U.S. Snowboarding Grand Prix in Canyons, Utah.

In addition to competing, Miller also did some filming with Warren Miller and other production companies.

"Chelone Miller was an aspiring elite athlete who had made great progress as a snowboardcross rider this past season. We are all deeply saddened at the news of his death and extend our condolences to the entire Miller family," U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association President Bill Marolt said in a statement on the team's website.

Bode Miller reportedly files two paternity suits; his wife and another girl are both currently pregnant

Nobody can ever accuse Bode Miller of lacking fertility.
According to a report from TMZ, the Olympic skier and gold medal winner has filed two paternity suits to establish custody with two separate women.
One of the suits involves a woman named Sara McKenna, who is currently pregnant and due in February. Miller is seeking joint legal and physical custody of the soon-to-be-born boy.
The other suit involves a woman named Chanel Johnson, who has a 4-year-old daughter. Miller claims to be the father and is hoping to establish joint and physical custody, as well as child support payments.
But here’s the big thing: Miller married his wife (pictured), volleyball player Morgan Beck (now Miller), in October, and she is currently pregnant and due in August. Yeah, there’s a lot going on here.
Apparently Miller was trying to distance himself from McKenna while he was with Morgan.
On her Twitter account, McKenna, who bills herself as a firefighter, ex-Marine, and model, claims that Miller wo...

Bode Miller to skip rest of season

Bode Miller is known for his aggressive nature on the slopes, a hold-nothing-back approach that's led to plenty of success and spills.

When it comes to his surgically repaired left knee, Miller will hold back and take a much more cautious route, especially with the 2014 Sochi Olympics just around the corner.

Miller has elected to skip the remaining portion of the World Cup season, along with world championships, to give the knee more time to heal. The two-time overall champion had microfracture surgery nearly a year ago and doesn't want any sort of setback with the Olympics -- his last one, he said -- so close. Because another injury would probably end his career.

Still, it's a little strange without Miller heading to the starting gate. He's missed a few races in his career, but he hasn't sat out a full season since his debut in 1997.

"It was tough for me to miss a season of ski racing, but this decision was easy for me when I look at my opportunity next year," the 35-year-ol

Bode Miller’s Wife Morgan Beck Recovering Nicely From Golf Injury

A little over three weeks ago, we showed you some horrific photos of beach volleyball player Morgan Beck. Beck, the wife of renowned skier Bode Miller, took an errant golf ball right to the eye, leaving the beautiful volleyball player with an insane eye injury. The kicker: the golf ball came off of Bode’s club.

Ouch.
Thankfully, we can report that Beck’s eye is healing nicely.
The above photos show just how far Beck has come since the December 12 incident. She posted the following update on Instagram:
Two and a half week eye update! Incredible cosmetic healing but terrible vision and a GIANT pupil. Makes me want to be a vampire most of the time, but overall…I’m a happy camper…..with crooked eyebrows now.
She wasn’t kidding about the GIANT pupil. Take a look at that beast.

In all seriousness we’re happy to hear that Morgan is recovering well and it was good to see that she was able to have a little bit of fun throughout the ordeal. Also, give this girl some props for getting back o...

Morgan Miller’s Eye Injury Could Impact Her Professional Volleyball Career (Photos)

Bode Miller has his work cut out for him apologizing to his wife after hitting her in the eye with a golf ball and sending her to the hospital for 50-plus stitches. What might cost him even more time in the doghouse is that Morgan Beck –a.k.a. Mrs. Miller — needs her eyesight for her job as a professional volleyball player.
Eyesight is obviously important to everyone, but it is even more of a big deal for professional athletes. While the 25-year-old Beck does do some modeling work in addition to playing volleyball, she does rely on her eyes to some extent to make a living.
Here’s hoping for a full recovery for Mrs. Miller, because it’s always unfortunate when an injury could possibly cut a career short.

Sunglass company claims shades saved Bode Miller's wife's eye

A sunglasses company is claiming that pro volleyball player Morgan Miller — the wife of Olympic skier Bode Miller — would be missing one of her eyes if not for the special sunglasses she was wearing when her husband teed off a golf ball into her face, reports TMZ.

Morgan tweeted about her husband's wayward shot after it happened on Wednesday. She also posted a grisly-looking photo with a short explanation — claiming she and Bode were out on the links (somewhere) and he whacked her with the 160 mph golf shot. Warning: The photo is graphic.

While recovering in the hospital, the bloodied Morgan thanked the sunglasses manufacturer — a firm called Kaenon — for making the sturdy shades which saved her eyeball.

A rep for the Kaenon said the SR-91 polarized lenses Morgan was wearing are the reason the company created the special "impact resistant" sports performance sunglasses — the only ones on the market.

Morgan is now a fan of the shades and said, thanks to them, she "only

Morgan Miller’s grotesque eye a monument to Bode Miller’s terrible golf skills

Olympic skier Bode Miller and professional volleyball player Morgan Miller can legitimately be called a truly gorgeous married couple as the pair are both rather attractive athletes. Morgan, however, is a little less lovely after taking a golf ball in the eye from her darling husband during a recent golf outing.

You would assume that a well struck golf ball would do a sh*t load of damage to a person’s eye, and you know what, you’d be 100% correct in that assumption…

That is just brutal. But get this, even though she ended up with 50+ stitches, it could have been a lot worse had Morgan not been wearing her Kaenon sunglasses…

Bode Miller had “just another one of those days” on the golf course.
No, he didn’t miss a handful of birdie putts or lose a few balls in the woods — he crushed a ball at his wife’s face. Or, what he calls, his “first major golf catastrophe.”
His wife, Morgan Miller, tweeted on Wednesday night that the former skiing champ hit her above the eye with a “160 mph line drive.” Luckily, she was wearing sunglasses and only needed 50-plus stitches instead of a glass eye.

If Bode Miller’s wife chose to never play golf again in her life, no one would blame her. Morgan Miller, a professional volleyball player who was formerly known as Morgan Beck, decided to play a little golf on Wednesday with her Olympic gold medalist husband. Things did not go as planned.
According to Morgan’s Twitter account, Bode accidentally drilled her with what she described as a “160 mph line drive” to the left eye. Fortunately she was wearing sunglasses, which absorbed some of the blow and left her with 50+ stitches and a temporary loss of vision rather than blindness in her left eye and possibly worse. For those of you who have strong stomachs, the uncensored version of the photo you see above is after the jump.

Morgan is lucky to be alive. She said she is recovering well and getting the feeling back in her face, although the vision in her left eye has yet to come back. Where was she standing on the course that resulted in a golf ball to the head? Either Bode is a horrible...

Bode Miller teams up with Baffert

Olympic and world champion skier Bode Miller has gotten into horse racing with part ownership in his first horse.

Miller plans to be at Santa Anita to watch Carving run Saturday in the $250,000 FrontRunner Stakes. The 2-year-old is trained by Hall of Famer Bob Baffert and owned by his wife, Jill. The couple are friends with Miller and named their 7-year-old son, Bode, after him.

Carving is undefeated in his first two career starts. He will be ridden Saturday by Martin Garcia.

Baffert said Miller initially told him he was interested in buying a horse for $50,000 to $60,000. The trainer said he looked but couldn't find anything at that price range and kept searching. Eventually, he found Carving, and they bought him for $55,000.

''He's not a big horse, and when we got him at Del Mar, Bode said, `Boy, he's not very big,' and I said, `Well, what do you expect for $55,000?' '' Baffert said, adding that Miller got excited after the horse won its first two races.

The 34-year-old New Hampshire native is known for a go-for-broke style on the slopes that has resulted in 33 World Cup wins, two overall World Cup titles and five Olympic medals, including a gold medal at the 2010 Vancouver Games.

Injury ends season for US skier Miller

Five-time Olympic ski medalist Bode Miller will undergo surgery on his left knee and miss the remainder of the World Cup season.

Miller had a minor arthroscopic procedure performed on the knee earlier this month with the hope of quickly returning to the circuit. But when he arrived back in Europe, Miller experienced more discomfort.

The United States ski team didn't release a date for Miller's next surgery.

Miller, 34, says he will return to training, "as soon as possible. I'm still having fun and as long as skiing is enjoyable, I'm going to continue to do it."

Miller had four podium finishes this season, including a win on the challenging Birds of Prey downhill course at Beaver Creek in December. He was 10th in the overall standings.
