2009 Draftee Report Card, Part Three: Outfielders and Catchers

The Diamondbacks entered the 2009 draft with 4 extra draft picks in the first round and the 1/2 sandwich round, and came out of the draft with 37 out of 55 picks signed. Kieth Law ranked the D-backs as having the best draft in 2009, and other reviews of the Diamondbacks' draft have been positive as well. With so many quality players signed, this draft certainly has the potential to be best draft the Diamondbacks have had in their short history, and the team had a nice balanc...

Eric Byrnes has meeting on future with D-backs

Eric Byrnes has meeting on future with D-backs
"D-backs general manager Josh Byrnes and manager A.J. Hinch had breakfast with Eric Byrnes on Wednesday. On the menu was the outfielder's future in Arizona. "We just wanted to sit down and lay out what's in front of him," Josh Byrnes said, preferring to keep the specifics of the conversation private. Eric Byrnes did not immediately return phone messages left by MLB.com."

Here's a round-up of interviews from the past couple of days. We start off Josh Byrnes and Derrick Hall on KTAR - seems that Byrnes predicted to Wolf before the season began, that we could have an outfield of Oeltjen, Romero and Parra later in the season. He discusses the outfield situation and also whether or not Webb should have had the surgery earlier, the question of exercising the option, and DL-ing Schoeneweis. Hall has some interesting things to say on the future of Eric Byrnes...

Eric Byrnes spoke for the the first time since his surgery, which inserted a metal-plate and eight screws in the hand hit by a pitch on June 25th.
Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder/pop-up artist Eric Byrnes is going to be out 1-2 months after breaking his hand last night after getting hit in his last at-bat before being taken out of the game against the Texas Rangers, a game the Dbacks eventually lost 9-8 in 12 innings.

Eric Byrnes: Drug Testing Is Beneficial To MLB, Sexually Awkward

Eric Byrnes has the right idea about the MLB's drug testing policy. Really, the tests aren't a big deal for players who are willing to comply with the steroid policy — as Byrnes said, "It's a great thing. They can test me every day, I could care less."

However, while steroid testing is currently helping to clean up baseball's image, there are downsides to the policy. Byrnes isn't wild about the fact that the testing procedure requires him to urinate into a cup while a testing official observes.

Arizona Sports Fans Just Don't Get It

I was going to let this one go, but after seeing the editorials in the Arizona Republic this morning, I just couldn't let it slide. Arizona sports fans simply don't have a clue. No passion, no loyalty and no understanding. What they do have is a million excuses and a never ending case of crying the blues.

I am Eric Byrnes. Are you?

Well?maybe, not so much me, but this guy Eric O'brien from Tucson, AZ is Eric Byrnes. He also got to meet him and appeared on The Eric Byrnes Show. I blogged about this a few weeks ago, when EB was having his look-a-like contest. I have to admit though, this guy is spot on. He is Eric Byrne's look-a-like.

Yes. Eric Byrnes Likes the Warriors

Ah there is a certain quality about Eric Byrnes that just makes you like the guy. It's probably his hang-lose attitude off the field, and his 100% intensity on the field. Either way, is there anyone out there who can say they don't like EB? I doubt it. This, just makes me like him more. Rock on EB!
